Is it possible for a multiplayer server to use a seed when making a map, or is it just a singleplayer thing?

[QUOTE=krail9;28266568]I thought this looked pretty cool

Nice.
Wouldn't monsters spawn in there, though? Looks dark. I'm not sure what light level they spawn at, though.

This "shelter" seems to not let monsters spawn while you're sleeping. (presumably because there's no room for them to stand on the platform)
It's safer than my castle I spent hours building :frown:
Shit, apparently MrMessiahs modpack isn't updated yet.

I think light smoothing makes everything way too dark.
Installing Java on my laptop that is now running Ubuntu (which is VERY AWESOME.) is a real bitch. I've been trying to get it to work for quite a while now, guess I'll keep trudging on if it means a more capable server.
edit: at this point im considering just using OpenJDK.
Diamonds found so far: 4
Time ingame: Less than an hour
I am awesome

used !@!$$$**%$$$$$ or something similar as seed
BTW, Wizardry is a very good seed. Has a big cave system right near the general spawning area
$ as seed spawns you in a lava pit most of the time.

I'm on peaceful just playing around with architecture styles (red nation anyone?), but yeah I'm sure it would have to be brighter for real playing.
I never got the interest in BetterGrass. The green on the side looks weird to me.
This should reverse the flow of the water when I change the input, shouldn't it?

I'm fucking picky about the way my minecraft looks, and having all grass blocks look exactly the same no matter the circumstances annoys the shit out of me.
I've been thinking about the sort of "over-arching-plot", that they're going to add.
A story suggestion I have is an "age" like circle.
Each age would be different than the last, with different dangers, perhaps different things to help you as well, like ingredients from a new monster or new plants. As the ages go on, items from the last age can't be made anymore and can only be recovered.

I got used to it after a little while.
Now that betterlight is included in Minecraft I probably won't get it again though.

The Vignette around the edges of your vision when it's dark is also removed on Fast graphics.

Can you explain what a "Vignette" is?

annoying black gradient around the edge of the screen that makes spelunking scary as fuck

See how the screen gets darker around the edges of the player's vision? That's a vignette. It gets bigger and darker as you go further away from light sources. It sort of simulates what real eyes do when they focus on things and some games include them for immersion. Why Minecraft does it, I dunno.
For comparison, here's the same thing on Fast graphics:

It seems a bit lighter. It isn't really that noticeable. :\
