It finally installed about an hour ago, I then spent 30 minutes try to get the refresh rate right, luckily there was a small guide on how to blindly set it to 60. So that's all good. Played it for the next half hour, looks pretty good, even on some of the lower settings (my GPU spiked at 94 Celsius on object dynamic lighting and high settings). I got killed about 3 time by a guy with a shotgun on the first mission, I seriously need to adjust to the way aiming works on this, it's a little different to other games. Also found some anomalies that blew shit up. Was pretty cool.

You also need to learn that STALKER is not run and gun, and doing so will get you NOWHERE until you have a decent bulletsponge armour. And even then I urge you don't do it.

Yeah, I tried sneaking around them after my second death (first death I didn't even scout out the area, second death one of them ran around the corner and boomstick'd me and one of Wolfs guys). They saw me, but didn't come near me, then decided they'd send all their guys with pistols out after me. Sprinting did not help. I need to learn to stealth :v:

Bear in mind stealth is near enough crippled in vanilla, and every other mod that's not LURK. When I say don't run and gun, I meant take it slowly, but not necessarily stealthily.

Ahh, I was wondering why LURK boasted about it's stealth. Dammit. oh well, I think I'll try and be more careful where I step in future.

Also, grab every medkit and bandage in sight if you're playing anything that [I]isn't[/I] LURK. When/if you do play LURK, forget this habit and limit yourself to like, 10 medkits and 20 bandages or something.

What changes are in LURK?

Stealth, graphics, new guns with weird balancing.

Any way to get the graphics of one mod with the gameplay of another? I don't like the idea of stealthy gameplay, in fact I quite want to simplify STALKER's fighting. It's a bit too rough for me right now. I want to be able to take it a bit easier. Are there any mods with easier albeit more frequent combat? I'm not one for realistic combat. Oh, and I don't like the fact that LURK took out the red sky effect in blowouts :(

well in my vanilla, I couold walk behind the army, bandito's and the Military with them not spoting me. That is until I decde to walk upright, or knife one in the back. But thats only at night. And I ran past a Military blockadewith out them spoting me. So I think it's fair to say, Vanilla has an alright stealth system. (I was like 100(?)m away from the blockade at night.)

I loved Rugrats, I died inside when they made that horrible modern version, and the one with Dill. Ugh. I also liked Pokemon though, before they screwed it up.
