S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series Megathread: Invincibility Fridge Edition

Clear Sky is extremely fun.
X-Ray in it's current state can not sync AI with it's netcode, and as such, co-op (in a mod) is basically impossible. We can get the SP maps working, but there'd be no AI, limited physics..It'd be pretty pointless.
-snip-
Well, when S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 comes out, they won't be using SHoC's version of X-Ray.

But we could have super awesome coop where you go to the bloodsucker village and see its empty, when your coops buddy does the same thing and you see him screaming and running around in circles as you shoot at his bleeding body.

If they even use X-Ray..
I'd like to see an X-Ray 2.0, but for some reason..I get the feeling it won't happen. :(
I'd like to see an X-RAY 2.0 Engine. X-RAY sets itself apart from other engines with it's real to life feel.

Agreed.
I think the lighting system is excellent, better than things like CryEngine in several areas. In my opinion, anyway.
I'd best be in it.
Only problem is you have a moving avatar. How the fuck is he supposed to draw that.
The only gripe I have with the engine is the shadows right now. The shadows look awesome within 30 meters of you, and then anything farther looks like a blurred mess. That is fine and all, there is just no transition. It's just sharp > blurry. I know there is a cvar to fix it to some extent but then the shadows closer to you get blurry, which you can once again fix with the -smap command, but then the performance drops a fair amount. I really love how all of the lights are dynamic though, that's great. Clear Sky's engine is much better looking than SoC's though. I think they added bloom and specular maps, but I don't know what else.

by drawing Vladimir Makarov
I haven't heard anything about the supposed stalker 2 but I have a feeling it's going to be completely different than the current three.
Probably for a very different audience as well.
But that's just my insight.
What are good mods for vanilla stalker?
Just picked up SoC off STEAM last night, had it a while back but lost the damn disk. I was running away from like 5 soldiers and ended up running into a pack of fucking dogs. I spent like 5 minutes running back and forth trying to decide who to fight, ended up hiding beind a tree and taking them all on.

If he even chooses to do one this year.
Hey guys, Since Clear Sky is on steam for only 5 bucks i thought i would buy it. But being a smart buyer, i checked out systemrequiremnetslab to see if i could actually play it.
Now i came back with only between minimum and recommenced, It says i would have at least a CPU of "Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 / AMD 64 X2 4200 +" but i only have an "Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU P8700 @ 2.53GHz." Do you think i could still play it? or would it actually be worthless to do so, and also everything else that i have is up to par.
my avatar isn't personify-able :(
I could dig up my old citizen with a c17 scanner for a head avatar.
besides, it seems like crisis is dead.

what are your full specs?
I honestly don't see why they can't just make the ALife be sent to those connected to the host, from the host, and that's that
Bought both SoC and CS before on steam as they were so fucking cheap, along with wh40k DOW II. I'll play SoC first tomorrow when it'll be downloaded, any tips for a newbie? :v:

He can use this:

if he drew me i'd be the duty egg-head SEVA dude
with duty patches
ALL OVER
Hope I get drawn into it as well, The cool looking guy with the M4 + Acog... and probably some sort of creature latched onto a part of my body... Yeah that sounds like me in Stalker
well if it were to represent how I act in stalker I'd be crouching or sitting holding a dragunov svd. it's actually what I do. if I spot an enemy I just crtl+shift and snipe him.
the call of pripyat benchmark doesn't work for me :(
same with me, it just causes my computer to freeze for 10 min and close itself.
Call of Pripyat benchmark rapes my computer and I have:
i7 920 @ 3.8 gh/z
Two GTX 260's Core 216 Superclocked in SLI
6GB DDR3 Ram
And everything to go along with it.
So if I have a hard time running it, good luck to you chaps'.
I mean it runs well until you have the fancy lighting... but it's hard to go without the fancy lighting because it sets the atmosphere better.
what settings did you use?

This guy must have Windows Vista with those specs.
