If it is your first play through of SoC, get the mod "Stalker Complete 2009". All it does is overhaul the graphics to a degree that's better then most games today. After that, you could try L.u.r.k.

DUTY will, I think Freedom is neutral with Bandits.

I wish someone would merge Arsenal RC1 with ZRP and Stalker Complete. SC Has ZRP but Arsenal Mod breaks that shit, which is a shame because as far as I can tell, Arsenal has the best weapon Models, Skins and Sounds of any other mod I've found

Friendlies don't mean shit. they're green dots on your map. they won't give you ammo, health packs, nothing.

I dunno what your playing, I get discounts on weapons and such. Also different mechanics an upgrade certain things for example the Bandit mechanic I believe is the only one able to fully upgrade SEVA. Your right on the friendlies but having those green dots makes me so much more secure :kiddo:

I'm having troubles running SoC, whenever I start it, my monitor blackens and says "Out of range, dunnokhz/dunnokhz". I've tried changing the launch options on Steam to this: -refresh 60 -w 1280 -h 1024
which is what my monitor can handle but I'm still getting the same problem.

Does anybody know any solution? :frown:

I guess you can try going to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\STALKER-SHOC and opening the User.ltx file scrolling to the bottom and setting vid_mode to your liking.

Theres a console command, something like vid_force_60hz, if you can't see the screen like I had, you'll have to do it blindly, just wait for the menu music, press ` and enter the command. You may have to Google the command as I don't think I have it quite right.

Okay, I have tried it but I can't seem to open the console or something, I press what is ` for my keyboard, º, and I type "rs_refresh_60hz on" but nothing happens :frown: I even tried changing the keybind for the console, was kGRAVE or something like that and changed it to kº but still nothing.

Are the game options stored somewhere? Somebody could set their refresh rate to 60 and upload the file or something so I could use it.

Or if I'm doing something wrong :confused: .

This guy basically sums up the "What mod should I get?" question. But there's tons of great mods out there. SMP for example, it's not my cup of tea, but lots of people like it, and that Lost Alpha mod that occasionally gets brought up sounds like fun as well.

If you decide on OL, look up some good sidemods, they really improve the mod.

So there I was (Isn't that how all hero stories start out?) Walking past a house (The one you save the wounded guy in from those dog things) and a Firefight broke out before getting there between some Loners and bandits. Well after all was said and done, Me and a couple loners were left with dead bandits and one wounded bandit.... The wounded bandit I was going to execute, like I love to do, but before I pulled the trigger, one of the Loners had his pistol drawn and was walking up to him, so I holstered mine saying 'No Way, he isn't going to...'

So he raised his pistol to shoot, said something in Russian, probably Ezekiel 25:17, and POP. Killed him, I took a screenshot of him walking away from the body

I laughed maniacally at it, I don't know why, but it was hilarious to see, I believe that's the bullethole that went through him in that small bloodsplatter as well

Did the tunnel zap you? If so, do not try going through there unless you can time it perfectly. Walk to the right of the entrance, you'll see some military goons. Keep walking a bit, go up the hill to your left and you can just happily walk past the train track fencing. Then sprint, they might chase you.
