• If you made a game engine

My engine would be all about lighting and particle effects.
If I made a game engine, I'd have it dynamically allow me to modify the map in real-time.
An engine that could handle a legit Star Wars experience. I'm talking, flying directly from space to the planets surface and having battles with thousands of people. Well, would apply to any large scale game.
You mean, what they originally did with Battlefront III before it was cut. :(
Have fun telling people why when they try to move they jump.
platformers do not use the same movement style as FPS games durr
platformers do not use the same movement style as FPS games durr
yo controls can be remapped ok
Lateral Engine. Eurphoria. First Person and Third person capabilities (like Fallout 3) FBX Model Support, Soft Volume smoke effects and what not, SSAO, Cinematic Depth of field, A tool similar to unreal engines Matinee (love that tool) And Crysis like AI's... Naw I'm kidding those things are fucking shit. Oh and ray traced shadows for High end DX11 Cards. [editline]07:27PM[/editline] Oh and a dynamically rendered sky instead of skyboxes or skydomes. [editline]07:28PM[/editline] Oh and a dynamic gravity control, as in different area's can have different gravities, so not just for 1 whole map. So you have can have a space station, when you exit via airlock the gravity will fade and you hit 0 grav. [editline]07:30PM[/editline] And would run off of Open GL for support for Mac too, but for multiplayer the master servers would be different. Cant mix macfags with PC elitists.
The text engine -- It prints text of the developers choosing to a console window. Then it crashes.
A physics sandbox :3:
I would have one with brilliant AI and physics
Engine with DMM, Euphoria and all other cool middleware. Then release a free sdk for indies to play with.
Chaos Engine: One that would simulate realistic environments, or completely alien, seemingly unrealistic environments (yet they'd still be technically possible). DMM, brilliant physics, realistic weather systems that are almost completely dynamic. As the name implies tiny changes in the initial parametres of the system would result in wildly different outcomes, as per chaos theory. You could make it so that every time you start a new game the parametres are, to our knowledge, identical, but in reality there's TINY differences. This'd result in wildly different weather patterns, or terrains being generated, etc. Weather patterns would obviously result in a dynamic skybox. Clouds would move, you'd see storms approaching, etc. Dynamic liquid would be amazing. Water would flow over cliff faces as a realistic waterfall... or... liquid ammonia fall if you wanted to set your game on some alien world. Lighting would have to be absolutely stunning, and it'd have proper, well done dynamic sound, too. As I've already said, physics would be amazing. Trees and grass (or similar analogues) would need to react realistically to wind and stuff, as well as breaking apart realistically due to DMM. The ultimate engine for a sci-fi epic, essentially. Every moment in gameplay would be as amazing as a well done cutscene. Edit: Environments would have to be ABSURDLY huge. Like... you could get an ENTIRE CITY... a gigantic, alien city with kilometre tall buildings on a planet and have literally dozens upon dozens of square kilometres of interesting terrain around it to explore. There'd also be off world stuff, too. Space travel, detailed space environments (stars would appear to be realistic and such), all of that stuff. Again: an engine for a true sci-fi epic.
This engine: http://www.outerra.com/
Sci-Fi Flight-Sims would jizztastic on that engine.
Sci-Fi Flight-Sims would jizztastic on that engine.
I was thinking more sci-fi combat with hundreds of AI, with land and air.
Mine would be like Tresspasser with the hand and physics, the game kinda sucked tho. But if the remake it it would be awesome
Bodyengine- Makes your body and the world completely realistic. Your boobs bounce realistically(yes you can stare at them in first person) if you are a woman or a fat man, you can masturbate, get awkward boners, have sex with prostitutes, if you look at the sun you become blind, you can get on the internet, and much much more.
This is kind of not exactly what the thread is about, but anyways: A freeroam zombie survival game in a gigantic city: 1 - Real-time building generation. 2 - Modified version of Digital Molecular Matter. (For use on cars/other bendable objects) 3 - Volumetric lighting. 4 - Euphoria. 5 - Modified version of Geo-Mod 2. (For use on buildings) 6 - Optional PhysX acceleration. 7 - Dynamic zombies, able to quickly find their ways through buildings. 8 - Volumetric smoke. 9 - SSAO. 10 - Real-time Global Illumination. 11 - Lots of drivable cars. 12 - Many weapons. 13 - Each round, your objective is to get from one point in the city to another. Find your own way. [editline]05:36PM[/editline]
if you look at the sun you become blind
Who would stare at the sun for 10 minutes anyway? :v:

Euphoria would be good to make "dead" zombies rise up when you think they are dead.
an engine that simulates real physics, real graphics and real emotions and intelligence
:woop:
I would make an engine that uses subatomic particles as the primary unit. It would calculate the subatomic calculations. These subatomic particles will form atoms and atoms together to form molecules. The molecules form together and make stuff. Its all calculated in real time.
Its all about water physics [editline]05:46PM[/editline]
I would make an engine that uses subatomic particles as the primary unit. I would just use the easisest language possible, so that anybody can adapt the engine, and help improve the engine.
I would make an MMOFPSRPG engine with the basic code of the source engine. You get all your physics, incredible face and finger posing, and even DOF and other wacky effects on an FPS with a map the size of a f*ing country. Bad thing: You'd need an Intel Roadrunner to play the game... "Team Fortress 2: Land Explorer" You're a TF2 character and find and craft and make hats and hunt antlions and stuff. I'd make a 2D and 3D Real-Time RPG Engine with some Physics, but mostly heavy on Post Processing and a highly advanced Particle Editor.
dynamic engine realworld AI "for putting in portal chambers" and all that other stuff
A lot of those thing would be quite unneccessary in a zombie game. And not everything is necessary, but it's still fun. [editline]09:45PM[/editline]
I would make an engine that uses subatomic particles as the primary unit. when i get older, im sure that technology will advance alot. i would make an engine that would have euphoria (or morphene), destructible environment to that as of red faction guerrilla. dynamic lighting and fluid physics. almost all objects can be used for different situations. advanced body deformation, easy to use SDK and an unlimted ammount of space for mapping ( cities, countries, PLANETS!) thats all i have on my mind right now
-Designed for First Person -Euphoria -Full-body Awareness -High degree of interactivity: most objects can be picked up/pushed, you can combine things to make makeshift weapons, etc. -Extensive mod support.
Do this and i will marry you.
So real that you cannot tell whether or not the game is real or not.
