How do they currently prevent cert farming with medics and engy's? Or do they?
Feels like I barely get any certs as them anymore. I killed a bunch of enemies and revived/healed a lot of teamates tonight and got maybe 2 certs.

By leaving the healgun/repairgun broken.

How many points does a revive get you? If I were to just spam /suicide in the console, somebody could theoretically just revive me forever.
As far as I can tell, 1000 points gets you a Cert point, though it might be a bit more then that.

Healing and repairing ally- or self-inflicted damage won't get you exp anymore

ooh, pretty.
Now if there were only some way to turn some damn antialiasing on.

Also, sneaking up to anti-air positions and watching as the guy inside freaks out as he can't shoot you at close range is fun.

This is an amazing read and hopefully the problems it addresses will be tuned.

Your link looks like it's broken.
Apparently you don't like me calling your link broken.

What about jumping off cliffs? Does gravity count as self inflicted?
And I can think of several other ways to grind certs that I'd actually like to test, seeing as this is a beta and we're supposed to be trying to find flaws.
"You will also notice that offline cert point gain has stopped. That is intentional. We do plan on putting that feature as something you automatically get with a sub and we *may* offer it as something you can purchase as well (it may only last a month btw)."
Yay, I see how the rest of this is going to go.
-snip-
That sucks, was a huge point for me :( Smedly, ruining games one at a time.

So the cert gain is being moved over to subs only? What the fuck!? They have been touting off-line cert gain as a major feature for a LONG time.

Just read through that thread, people are bringing that up every second post. Smed is trying his hardest to damage control the situation, and he's pretty good at it, but as the facts stand right now the people complaining are making valid points.
I do like how responsive they are over there, though. He is right in the fact that the game needs to make money somehow, but they have been talking about offline cert gain as a major feature, and even though Smed claims they never said it would be a free feature, they also never said that it would be something you would have to pay for.
The blue resource seems the most obvious way of making money though, with the new guns/rockets/mag turret or whatever.
Edit: not to mention character cosmetics.
I can't play all day, or even at all on some days of the week.
Without offline cert gain i'll never get anywhere. Your in game cert gain rate is complete shit.

They're not going to sell auraxium, but Station Cash, which basically does exactly what auraxium does either way.
One mistake people seem to be making when arguing over there, at least the way I understand it, is over Implants. The ones you've got to pay for, AKA the golden implants, don't offer any actual effect on gameplay. They're just about exp/Cert gain rates. People keep saying you need station cash for the ones that reduce vehicle spawn time/increase weapon switch time/etc.
Welp, this is about to turn into an ugly cash shop.

I'm just treating the Beta as something to have fun with shortterm, rather then committing to the game in the long run. If it turns into a cashshop when it releases, I'll just bail. Plenty of other decent games out there to play.

for a moment i thought the "secret weapon" was supposed to be an LRAD unlock for the vanguard

Just noticed the golden implants that increase resource gain by 50%. Not just auraxium, but the other three as well. That's pretty unfair in terms of game balance, because it means people with that implant will be able to spawn vehicles almost constantly while others have to wait around after getting blown up twice.
That is, implying both players have vehicle availability time reduction maxed out.

you can buy all of the 3 other resources with araxium actually. its like 1000 arax each though, so even doing arax only its kinda a bonus. Pretty lame imo.
What they fail to grasp is that people buying shit for games dont want to fuck around with stuff they can get ingame normally. Im willing to spend money for camo and cosmetics for instance, but a gun i can get anyway? hah, no. They need to focus the cash shop on cosmetics, and nothing else, or they will ruin everyone's good will and sense of fun because they have to pay to unlock anything in a reasonable timeframe.
PM me for a key.
i just wish the game was more like an MMO
because i don't want to jack back into WoW

The whole "We want skill trees to last FORREEVVVERRRR" thing kind of sets me off, because a game should remain relevant by being fun to play, not because a group of people become obsessed with getting every single cert and keep the playerbase up in the process.

Seems fine and reasonable to me

They want the trees to last for years, which is kind of ridiculous. Some people support this, saying it adds "depth" to the game somehow. It taking me 3 months or 3 years to unlock everything in the game doesn't change the game's "depth" at all, but don't try telling the PS2 forumfags that.
I have a spare key due to buying into the Alpha Squad promotion. First PM, gets it.
I'm starting to think it's not worth playing if I have to wait for a year to know how to weld extra armour plates to my prowler...

I already have World of Tanks to grind forever
Heres the artifacting I was talking about
[t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/8682580/PlanetSide2%202012-09-16%2023-46-09-15.png[/t]
starts after playing for 10 minutes and gradually gets worse until buildings start flashing like crazy
Overheating video card, maybe? Sounds exactly that
