Planetside 2 Thread v2 - Beta floodgates open GOOD LUCK EVERYBODY

Why -has- NC had so many more members than the other two recently? On Metis and Almathea they have (and have had) quite a big majority over VS and TR constantly.
The Infiltrator better get some fucking cert that lets you hack enemy equipment terminals or something so you can re-arm in the base you're sabotaging. I don't want to be limited to just 2 Mines and then what, I run around cloaked with a pistol and that's it? What happens when that runs out of ammo?
I want to be able to harass the enemy and make them know it, not kill two people before needing to re-arm
You can already do this? Or at least, I've been able to. I don't think I even needed the cert to do it, but there is a cert for it. I figured it just made hacking faster.
You have to go up to an equipment/vehicle/air/etc. terminal and wait for the blue holomessage to appear, then hold E.
Oh man, I'm sad that the Light Assault's C4s can't even properly kill a sunderer, you can only carry two on you at a time and they don't even kill sunderers.
After messing around by certing vehicles, I feel like certain infantry at this point is useless and that only vehicles are worth it, with how the bases are made, it's not like you need to ever get out of your vehicle to kill everything inside a base.

You can already do this if you just walk up to an enemy terminal and hold E (or whatever your use key is). You don't even need certs for it.
Playing a VS Infiltrator. Attach laser and IFNV on my spectre. Continue to hip-fire and kill people with 2-3 shots. It's funny how much people rage at this.
This is why I consider the NC Infiltrator the worst. The only good thing it has going at the moment is the one hit kill headshots. If you either miss or don't get a headshot it's unlikely that you will get a kill since they will run and hide (Unless they're an idiot). With the VS and TR you can continue firing on groups of people and have a better chance of doing damage to multiple people in a group rather than just 1. The NC may be good against a single target, but it's almost useless in most other situations. ( The only exception is in the open desert areas since there isn't anything to hide behind).
I hope the VS lightning get a make over tolook more alien, I get it confused with the NC one.
Every session I've played I've seen NC scoring massive victories against both TR and VS.
if you're on metis thats because of the 666th devil dogs
is anyone in a decent outfit on thyone? i want to play with people who have a laugh, not a bunch of milsim nerds who take everything really seriously and have stupid ranks

Well, we're still around

all of these big gaming groups are really frustrating
PS2 is a pick-up-and-play game. you join in, hop on to a public squad and hopefully you're good to go (if you have a squad leader who isn't retarded)
devil dogs and a few others need to branch out and have squads on other factions too because they're ruining the game

It is possible to do that and have fun, but Planetside has always been about large scale coordinated operations between outfits. The reason the Devil Dogs are a problem on Metis is because every major outfit pretty much claimed their own server after the character wipe. BuzzcutPsycho was talking to Higby about this on his stream recently. There are just too many servers right now for the amount of players actually in beta.
I just came back after a while of being away, trying to make a new character after the wipe, why are all the servers locked? :C
Oh yeah I forgot it's not open during the early morning/afternoon in the UK
Am I the only one interested in the new continent?

Needs underground bases and snow storms though.
Or different bases full stop.
It would be neat if they did a throwback to PS1 and had an area of underground corridors for a base or outpost. Like if it was a prefab thing like the other structures and some outposts just happened to be underground.
And big cliffs.
Don't forget those.
Am I the only one interested in the new continent?
Why on earth would you think you're the only one interested in large scale battles on Hoth?
They better fix the damn drifter jets soon. I hate those, but still can't unequip them even after their hotfix. Not being able to play my favorite class is frustrating.
I don't get the whine about drifter jets. They're awesome at what they're supposed to be used for.

They're not supposed to be 'better' than standard jump jets, just to be used in different situations.
Imagine dropping a galaxy load worth of these at high altitude?
They are terrible because they can't get you ontop rooftops, which is the light's greatest strength. If you are going to be running around on the ground so much, you may aswell be heavy. They may speed up your travel slightly if you are high up already, but that is about it.
Since the cert patch a few days ago, I haven't been able to play for more than 5-10 minutes without crashing, and that's assuming I hotdrop/instant-action to a location. If I attempt to fly anywhere in a Reaver/Liberator, I will almost always crash within 1 minute of leaving the Warpgate area. Considering my role is flying a Reaver (since I put the 12.5k into Rocket Pods), it's pretty much not fun for me to play at the moment. They had that announcement that they were looking into crashing issues the same day as the patch, but I haven't seen any other posts about it. I'm guessing they wont end up fixing it until the next character wipe, which means I wont really get to try the upgraded certs or use the 10k auraxium I saved up again.

The problem with that argument is that you can still do that with the default jump jets already. (referring to stopping a vertical fall, but not so much traveling the same distance after jumping out)
If you jump out of a Galaxy, are you able to control your direction though? It generally seems like when you jump out of a Galaxy it doesn't maintain momentum as much, though I haven't jumped out of a Galaxy that was moving at a high enough speed to notice if there is.
It would make galaxy drops much more interesting. It would make it easier for the pilot seeing how the soldiers can just fly to the desired cap point.

i could just imagine like 500 people doing this at the same time with flight of the bumblebee playing.

alternatively you walk or flash your way over and standard jump up the side of the tower
You're right. I'm going to apply that logic to every mode of transportation in an entire game.
You're right. I'm going to apply that logic to every mode of transportation in an entire game.
Doesn't that logic already apply to every mode of transport, walk or use a vehicle?
Just a quick question, even though I'm sure it's asked a lot; Why in gods name are they giving keys to people on twitter for saying shit like "Lolz can I have a key? ;)" and not to the people to signed up officially and have been waiting for a long time?
I think the argument is that there are very few situations where the drifter jumpjets are better than the standard. You'll get more use out of the default ones than you will the drifters.
That strategy would be good at landing troop on the upper levels of a base which has heavy AA. Imagine 4 or 5 galaxies worth of light assaults drifting in. The galaxy could just poke out long enough to give them a good bearing and momentum, then fly out of range once everyone jumps out. Heck I wonder how far they could be released if the galaxy was at maximum altitude.
But most of the time the normal ones will be better.

But that is intentional is it not?
With AP and HE you'll get a lot less use out of them than HEAT.

if a base has heavy aa then why not attack it from the ground
and if they've got heavy ground defense too then attack somewhere else because they're clearly investing way too many resources into defending a single point

could you possibly be any more pedantic?

well that's like... your opinion man
seriously if you don't see a use for them, don't buy them, what do you propose they do, remove them from the game?
