could you possibly be any more pedantic?
only 3.7892% more having options is cool, it just sucks when you invest certs or araxium into something to find its uses are so limited that you're better off using the default and dealing with/avoiding the disadvantage it gives you in those situations [editline]1st October 2012[/editline] i know its inevitably a judgment call that values outside research but i don't really think enough information is provided in-game!
only 3.7892% more having options is cool, it just sucks when you invest certs or araxium into something to find its uses are so limited that you're better off using the default and dealing with/avoiding the disadvantage it gives you in those situations
But you're completely misunderstanding the whole point of the cert/araxium system. You're not supposed to cert into better jump packs. Nor are you supposed to cert to replace anything. You cert to get the option of the standard and drifter jump jets. Allowing you the flexibility to chose how to specialise. You now can still use standard jumpjets for standard combat, but now with the added option of fitting drifters when the need is right. I change my loadout several times during a serious fight depending on what I need.
But that is intentional is it not? With AP and HE you'll get a lot less use out of them than HEAT.
The specialization of AP/HE is far more useful than Drifter jets, even though their weaknesses are a lot easier to work with. I wouldn't say they make a great analogy in this case, considering the jumpjets are literally the whole benefit of light assault, and drifter jets trade that for an extremely situational tool with a weakness (doesn't go up) that is impossible to work around. Easier to understand phrasing: AP/HE is less situational and easier to work around than drifter jets
I just don't see the logic that people expect every new cert to be the final word in combat.

about an hour ago, I was defending some north TR outpost out on the flats, the NC zerg was coming in on foot and I was enjoying farming them in my lightning. All except the drifter lights, they kept coming in about 5-10m off the ground making them very annoying clay pidgins I couldn't shoot. We lost the outpost because of that. They're honestly not as bad as you make out.
okay i guess thats pretty legit
I wouldn't object to a small buff for them though. Like maybe the user jumps up about 5 meters or something when you first boost.
well that's like... your opinion man seriously if you don't see a use for them, don't buy them, what do you propose they do, remove them from the game?
I propose they give me the ability to fucking remove them again. Being stuck with them sucks.
I propose they give me the ability to fucking remove them again. Being stuck with them sucks.
oh you can't get rid of them? lol
oh you can't get rid of them? lol
Yes you can.
In the next patch/wipe/esamir they're also reducing the amount of servers. Thank god. They really overshot the amount of servers with the beta population. Hopefully we'll start seeing the crazy battles of the early days before they added a silly amount of servers.
I think drifters would be fucking great if they worked like mini-ESF's or something for a short period of time. Not allowing you to control your flight in the same way mind you, but imagine if drifters blasted you off to about half the speed of an ESF for the first 1/3rd of flight before causing you to glide slowly down to the ground on the last 2/3rds of flight. So you'd start off using drifters and basically blast off in a direction (using up half your fuel), then gracefully gliding down for the last half for a few seconds. Or you could simply double tap the drifters to give you a second boost, but that would use up all your fuel (and thus, less distance traveled through the air, but you cross that distance much quicker).

Ughh I wish Esamir would hurry the hell up. Planetside is kinda boring these days. Not that the game itself is ~boring~, it's just there is so many times you can play a half-finished game with no real purpose before it just becomes pointless.

These jerks won't give me a key
I'm guessing that account with the cd-box key never worked jaredop? :C
Nah it didn't, but it doesn't matter because it turns out I'm dumb and there was 2 keys in my direct messages!
Hah glad it turned out alright in the end. Shit though, I sent like 4 of those cd-key'd accounts around.
If anyone needs a key, one of mine *might* still work. My brother entered it but apparently he already had the beta, idk if it still works [editline]2nd October 2012[/editline] Thanks for trying anyways NoDachi, you're a good guy Too bad you play on a European server
Anyone else think the scythe got a stealth nerf? It handles like shit now compared to the reaver and mossie
The one thing I don't like about the scythe is how slow the shots go. It makes leading more problematic than the others.
The Scythe is my favorite Vehicle but, the wait time is slow when you wait for another one
The Scythe is my favorite Vehicle but, the wait time is slow when you wait for another one
if you max out the certs its like 5 minutes so if you die before the timer runs out then its your own damn fault [editline]2nd October 2012[/editline] i love how people think they can actually do damage to aircraft with small arms, makes them easy needler targets

Then I take out the rocket launcher and fire that at them.
I fire at them to get their attention so they try and shoot at me while slowly flying forward and are basically hovering. Then I take out the rocket launcher and fire that at them.
nc rockets move so slow though, they're easy as piss to dodge if you see it coming
I get like 3 FPS on my laptop, who would have guessed you couldn't really play without a graphics card :(
