This shows how FUCKING STUPID it is to release with 3 continents, one faction will have complete control over one constantly and just farm Auraxium. They haven't thought out the design of the game at all clearly and it ruins everything.
They have just added the second continent and nothing is final and Esamir is mostly just a testbed right now, to the point they're testing how the new territory system works before balancing the continent system. One of the devs (can't remember if it was RadarX or Higby) even said they'll rework Indar if Esamir proves to be more balanced in the end. They'll even consider having resource gain not depend on the continent you're on, encouraging empires to keep control of multiple continents.
And you know, in the current system, no one will ever 'win', everyone will be stuck in a perpetual three-way fighting over the same area of territory again and again. In PS1 you would fight three-ways from time to time but someone would eventually win due to the other empire leaving, that can't happen in PS2. Two-ways were much more exciting because you felt like you were making progress to capturing the continent and locking it. It's got nothing to do with map balance, its about game design.
I haven't played for almost a month, what's changed? I see there is a new continent.
I haven't played for almost a month, what's changed? I see there is a new continent.
The true extent of how broken the meta-game is has been discovered.
the way resources work is clearly not final, i doubt they will make you want to afk on a locked continent, also i don't get how the lattice system would be much different than the hex system? i'd rather have the core gameplay mechanics fixed, the infantry combat is horrible there are just way too many OSK and the TTK is just too short especially with the new weapon buffs, there's also the problem that fights go towards vehicle fights since there is no closed infantry only spaces like in the first game i also still fucking hate sniper rifles in general, if you pop out of cover for a second in a big fight chances are someone was already pointing there just waiting for you to come out and then you die instantly
Just got the chance to run the game in a long while, are the servers seriously constantly full like this? To make matters worse there's no auto-join feature, so it probably ends up with dozens among dozens of people all clicking on the "join server" button.
I got an extra key in my email, first to PM me gets it. Edit: Taken

According to Higby there is a server queue, although there is no UI for it.
Free beta key for whoever actually does not have one yet. TKXP-X9PM-FJGG-MF4F-H2EG
This game needs a two person vehicle that isn't a tank/APC.
Was fun playing. This is what happens when 90% of the NC pop goes on Esmir.
This whole 1 server for US and EU thing is a mess, I cant even see what I'm shooting at since my screen is full of Doritos.
wow i'm dumb i've been in the beta since august, never realized it

Are the servers down? My loading screen keeps getting stuck at 59% and then crashes to desktop. Also, a webpage comes up stating an error with the code 'G4'. Edit: Seems like they are indeed down.
Key sent.

The servers are down due to the massive population imbalance, no word on when they're coming back up yet.

Thats pretty messed up
People already got rocket pods on the US server. Wonder if they are going to wipe again.
they kinda of accidentally remade sanctuaries, what with one faction pretty much lording over a single continent. the only difference is that people can fight on them. [editline]6th October 2012[/editline] and if one faction has COMPLETE control over a continent their Rax gain goes through the roof knocking SOE's F2P model out a window on the way up. yeah basically they fucked up big time.
I just realized I received an email for the beta back August 24th. Installing and updating now :suicide: Loyalty until death.
they kinda of accidentally remade sanctuaries, what with one faction pretty much lording over a single continent. the only difference is that people can fight on them.
They need to give people incentives to keep some territory on Indar. Just an idea, but having like some sort of "uplink tower" around the middle of Indar to get resources from Esmir would help. You'd also get resources from both continents, although made so the current rate would be the same as now. (like reduce resource gains from Indar and reduce some from Esmir, so both of those combined would be roughly the same as just getting resources from Esmir) Bad idea, but oh well.
I think each continent should be majorly devoted to a single resource and rax. but then again this kind of grand strategic play doesn't factor in at all to the tactics of F2P gamers on the ground. boy this is a mess.

I think the major issue is there exist no innate link between: A and: B [t]http://contest.afghanistanmatters.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/C0049.JPG[/t] And there isn't any place to begin with for A in a non outfit situation because B is just running around shooting at stuff and if he does anything productive it's more or less by complete accident. so this is what happens when an army with a non-existent command body and the majority of people would be to busy gallivanting around to pay any attention to it anyway tires to conduct a multi-theater war. PS2 isn't about armies fighting a war, it's about random people with guns shooting at eachother on a big Island, so giving players any other goal than "SHOOT THE OTHER GUYS" is pointless, not that SOE has actually tired.
I think they are still trying to shoehorn command into the cert system. I can't wait until everyone can talk in global and call in OS's. It's going to be like PS1 all over again, except even worse.

Well, yes, that was my point, that making command a cert is a terrible idea.
