Well, yes, that was my point, that making command a cert is a terrible idea.
I HAVE A BETTER IDEA!
PS2 FACTION COMMAND TOP LEVEL: NPC COMMAND "BRASS" AN AUTOMATED DYNAMIC "QUEST" GIVING SYSTEM SIMULATING THE DECISION MAKING APPARATUS OF A MILITARY, WHICH WILL ASSIGN STANDING MISSIONS TO SQUADS BASED ON FACTION NEEDS AND ENEMY NUMBERS AND STRENGTH AND HAND OUT REWARDS TO SQUADS WHO COMPLETE THEM. EXAMPLES: FACTION CATALYST INCOME IS LOW: THE BRASS ASSIGN XP AND COMMAND XP BONUSES TO CAPTURE AND DEFENSE OF FACILITIES WHICH PRODUCE THEM. ENEMY FIGHTER AIRCRAFT ARE PRESENT IN LARGE NUMBERS: THE BRASS AGAIN ASSIGNS POINT REWARDS THEIR DESTRUCTION AND DESTRUCTION OF VEHICLE CONSOLES OR CAPTURE OF POINTS FROM WHICH THEY CAN BE OBTAINED FROM. THEATER LEVEL: SQUAD LEADERS "SARGENTS" PLAYERS THAT ARE PLACED IN COMMAND OF A SQUAD ETHER BY MAKING ONE OR RANDOMLY BY THE SQUAD FINDER WITH PLACEMENT BIAS DICTATED BY COMMAND RANK. COMMAND RANK IS A RANK SEPARATE FROM THE CERTIFICATION SYSTEM AND RANKS ARE OBTAINED BY COMPLETING THE MISSIONS ASSIGNED TO YOUR SQUAD BY THE NPC BRASS, THE LARGEST SHARE OF THE BONUS BEING GIVEN TO THE SQUAD LEADER. THE COMMAND CERTIFICATIONS CURRENTLY IN GAME ARE REMOVED AND PLACED BEHIND THE COMMAND XP SYSTEM WHICH INSURES THAT THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE SOME IDEA WHAT THEY ARE DOING ARE MAKING THE TARGET CALLS ON THOSE MASS DRIVER STRIKES. GROUND LEVEL: SQUAD MEMBERS "GRUNTS" MEMBERS OF A SQUAD WHICH WILL BE THE ONES WHO CARRY OUT MOST THE ORDERS OF THE BRASS AS DIRECTED BY THEIR SQUAD LEADERS. BY COMPLETING OBJECTIVES THEY GAIN INCREASED XP AND COMMAND POINTS WHICH ALLOWS THEM TO ASCEND THE COMMAND STRUCTURE. IN ADDITION WHEN A SQUAD MEMBER COMPLETES AN OBJECTIVE THE SQUAD LEADER ALSO RECEIVES A SMALL REWARD.
BAM, instant, easy to understand and effective goal driven Command Structure.
Looks they're starting to give access to the people who signed up on the site now. Because I just got access! ERMEGERD!
Anyone know of an outfit looking for a galaxy pilot? I can't stand getting on the ground and fighting in FPSes anymore, flying however I can do. Just love trying to outmanuever a reaver/mosquito on my ass in something three times his weight and at half his manuevarability.
Oh neat, I finally got invited to the beta. Looks like they are past all the twitter keys and priority access shit now and inviting people who have only signed up on the website.
I haven't gotten to play this update, is there any performance optimizations? Last time I played I had stuttering.
I think it would be cool if they made it rain once in a while.
God fucking damn it Vanu...
I just spawned a Flash, when it was going out of the spawn area automatically a mosquito landed directly in front, flipping me over and killing me. Right before I even had control of the vehicle. [editline]6th October 2012[/editline] Also does anyone know how to fix many of the interiors of buildings just being solid grey?
managed to log in, game runs worse and even looks a little worse, ugh. I love the gameplay but I just can't do anything at 20 FPS.
So, massive tank zerg of Terran vs NC (both sides have. so. many. tanks.) on the top european server, i just managed to be part of it until i was randomly blown up. before I even got there. It lags quite a bit though, which I didn't notice before. [editline]6th October 2012[/editline] And since when do blue lifts push you down?
it's weird, some people say that performance got worse but my fps increased by a lot actually
My fps is great, but the lack of a US East server is making it kinda hard to play.
Mweh, finally got the beta key but I don't have enough time to play...
Well Smedley said on his twitter that one optimization didn't quite make it in this patch, but that could have been anything.
My game crashes instantly when i press "Play". Is this a known issue, and more importantly is there a fix for it?
My game crashes instantly when i press "Play". Is this a known issue, and more importantly is there a fix for it?
It does that when the servers are down, just wait for them to come back online
(TAKEN) XRH6-66N2-NHE7-AJJX-KPD3 (TAKEN) That's a beta key that arrived by email. Please reply if you have taken it. edit: One of my friends took the key and replied to me by Steam Friends.
How the fuck has this patch been live for hours and nobody posted any patch notes?
Esamir… The word itself conjures visions of cold, an arctic expanse of snow, ice, and rock. If you are interested in a wintry vacation from the heat, taking in the sights of a beautiful frozen land, or relaxing under the stars as hot ordinance rains down, then Esamir is the continent for you! Or something like that. There’s also none of that Indari sand getting up into everywhere. Look, all we know is that there are valuable resources crucial to our survival on this frigid continent, and you’re going whether you like or not. Now, suit up for winter and pack your thermals, soldier! We’re bound for Esamir! Head to the terminals in the warpgate for briefing and transport. Capture methods for various large bases have been adjusted. We've toughened up shield generators, so we’ll have no more disabling them with a brick of C4 or a simple can opener. You'll need to start an overload process and make sure no one interrupts it by holding that position. Sure, you are a sitting duck and you’re likely to get stepped on by a lumbering MAX unit, but it takes dedication to drop that shield. New Certifications are also available! Among these, we’ve been asked to have you pay careful attention to the Flash’s new afterburner. We're not certain how many of you haven’t learned to drive and are too afraid to ask, so we’ll be requiring advanced training before you can use it. For those of you who still manage to survive driving your four wheelers off cliffs at 70 kph, this will ensure you hit the ground even harder! And that you might be right side up when you do it. Tired of being shot at by that same old carbine? Good news! All Empires have new weapons available for you to cause you bodily harm with. Check under the Weapons section to learn more. Notable Bugs: Players should once again be able to send messages to players on friends or outfits list by clicking on the Send Message button. The battlefield is no place for miming. Players with Nanoweave armor can once again be revived. There wasn't really a problem, we just had to teach Combat Medics how to unbutton it. Instant Action options should no longer send you where you don't select. Seriously we mean it this time! A bug was fixed that prevented people from shooting if they died with the Ammunition Belt equipped. You were of course weighted down with ammo so if you don't want things realistic just say so. Weapons: New Conglomerate light machine guns are now doing slightly more damage. We haven't adjusted the weapons so we're looking into the possibility it's fueled by rage. Vanu Sovereignty light machines guns are now better designed to fire on the fly. We tried to pin this on rage also but it's the Vanu Sovereignty. What expressions DO they make under those masks? General infrantry weapons are now a little more accurate. We'd like to say this will make you a better soldier but realistically this just means you are going to get shot more. Why did we change it? Surplus bandaids. These babies gotta move. Certifcation: Overall certification rate gain has been slowed significantly and costs have gone down. This is math and we don't expect you grunts to think much about it. Just focus on not getting blown up. Vehicles: The Flash and Sunderer now have certifications to increase Top Speed and Braking Force. Let's be honest. Brakes really aren't going to help you run people over and crashes are more spectacular at increased speed. The Flash now has a certification for the NFI-2000 Turbo which will temporarily increase its speed. We know you are going to try it because it has the word Turbo in it. Don't worry about the fact you effectively have a small afterburner beneath your crotch. We've tested this thing successfully at least twice, and sometimes the driver didn’t even die. Vehicle collision has been adjusted, meaning no more Jenga towers with the tanks. Seriously people, do you know what that does to a front end alignment? Classes: An ammunition belt certification is now available for the Infiltrator. Yes, we know everyone else already had one, but YOU guys were the ones who complained it didn't come in black. The MAX will now start with one of each weapon type. A previous shortage in flamethrower fuel has been rectified. Unrelated, tiki torches are no longer available for afterhours parties. A Recon Detect Device is now available for Infiltrators. This will allow you track vehicles by hitting them with a tracker. While tagging your fellow soldier may seem fun, these are PROJECTILES. Does someone really need to have an eye put out? World: The new continent of Esamir is now available for players. Ok, technically it's not new and it's always kind of been there on the other side of the world, but Maintenance now has the warpgate issue fixed. Really! We've only had one incident of body parts being rearranged incorrectly, and you'd be surprised how easy it is to learn to walk on your hands. Shield Generators in the various bases now have to be overloaded as mentioned above. While they've been improved enough to be immune to C4, unfortunately all you need to do to overload them is stand close enough to start breaking them. We've nicknamed the person who gets this responsibility "bait." Note: There were a few hiccups with shield generators. Overloading doesn't display the correct effects and alarms, The HUD indicators aren't blinking yet, and we don't have the voice over. We'll have this resolved as soon as possible. Population caps have been put in place for Empires and continents. We understand some of you may be concerned we are tampering with who can enter a certain area, but the alternative was tampering with your DNA. Trust me. This is much better. UI: New voiceover is available for spotting targets. We originally had a creepy kid whispering "I see dead people" but we think you'll prefer this.

And since when do blue lifts push you down?
This confused the hell out of me when I was on earlier. Also, if anyone has a spare key, I would appreciate it. I've got a friend I would like to play with.
Can't wait to hop in after this patch especially with the optimization fixes.
Oh gee cant WAIT to play the new continent! *logs in* 9% VS population, no low population exp boost, NC own everything *logs out*
Ammo packs are bugged. US East (Where I live) servers are down. 0/10, will not play until next update.
Yeap, NC were tearing up the new continent on the EU server. I feel that cert points take way too long to acquire now.
so i have no clue what the fuck i am doing in this game When I click on the quick action button on a combat zone or whatever it starts a countdown and absolutely fuck all happens.
so i have no clue what the fuck i am doing in this game When I click on the quick action button on a combat zone or whatever it starts a countdown and absolutely fuck all happens.
It's a new bug.
Sooo I log in to find myself in the northern desert standing on a pile of bodies surrounded by about 50 TR. GG
So I finally remembered I actually had this sitting around, not installed. Spent an entire week downloading the bastard (my internet connection is really slow again for some reason, and I barely touched my PC). And last night actually had my first semi-serious session on it. Just using the auto-join squad function, I was instantly dumped into a 12 man squad, with people actually working together. We had a guy in some aircraft I have yet to learn the name of, hauling our asses around to new outposts and shit, dropping us off and flying somewhere safe to park it while we did our thing. People were covering each other at capture points, reviving each other (when the revival mechanic actually chose to work). It was actually really, really fun. I didn't even realise I had spent an hour doing it. We took two or three facilities nearby just through sheer teamwork. A very nice first time experience for any game. As much as I like games like the Battlefield games, they never have anywhere near this much teamwork. Even in organised squads people are more likely to just fuck around more and do their own thing. Shame about the new update coming out and requiring me to re-download all ~5GB of the fucking game. I don't think I'll bother somehow, because no doubt, the moment I finish updating there will be more updates. Why the hell does it seem to want to download the entire damn game again.
Why the hell does it seem to want to download the entire damn game again.
New continent just got released.
New continent just got released.
Yeah, I read over the patch notes earlier today. But I don't see why that requires near enough every single file to be changed, surely it would only need to add new files for the continent, and patch a few older ones? Going by the content in the game I've seen so far, it should be another 4GB for that.
6RCD-DEJE-XD62-JREX-AEF4 Rate useful if you use it please.
