There is a 2.5 gig update downloading, but there's no news of it.. Why don't they tell us what is in this update that is half the size of the game itself?
I'm hoping it is the Resource/Heavy Weapons update.
Servers were going down so we had some fun. Sorry for low settings, though the built in video recorder adds a bit of ugly too.
didnt kamikaze 0/10
What the fuck is up with being randomly damaged like you are in a pain field? I was capping a flag at biolab on Esamir and it kept happening to me whenever i crossed some invisible line in the middle of the corridor.
Patch notes.
The servers have been updated so here is a little information about changes you may notice. Underslung Weapons Available Need a little extra punch? Strap one of our new under slung weapons to a Carbine or grab a Shotgun when you breach your next base. Whether it's a high explosive grenade or devastating shotgun round, you'll clear a room with ease. Certify for using these weapons today Empire Heavy Weapons Every soldier knows a successful engagement requires significant amounts of firepower. Prove yours is bigger and show up with a Jackhammer or Lasher to turn the tide of battle. Check out the Store and earn yours today. Notable Changes: Certification just got easier (lower) on a number of weapon attachments. Population bonuses now display appropriately. We just wanted to remind you how outnumbered you were. Vehicles now pass through shields without any graphical anomalies. And by anomalies we mean randomly vaporizing personnel traveling through it. So no more hosing that smell out your Sunderer! World: Generator destruction effects and voice over are now available. Weapons and Certifications: Shotguns are now available for purchase. We'd like to remind you these are not for "hunting game' in the Warpgate. Underslung grenade launchers and shotguns are available for compatible weaponry. The keyword here is compatible so please stop duct taping things to light machine guns. Heavy weaponry such as the Jackhammer, Lasher, and MCG are now available. We aren't sure why you'd carry anything smaller than these but hey, we don't judge size. Vehicles: The Lightning, Vanguard, and Prowler now have certifications for Tank Rotation and Braking Force. However, these will not prevent you from being "that guy" in the armor convoy. Vehicles now have a critical damage state. This means they are on fire. Beyond the fact you are basically roasting in a mobile easybake oven, it's going to affect their performance. Good news! Fire suppression system certifications have been added to repair critically damaged vehicles. We advise not breathing in the fumes from these systems. Look we can't safety test everything. Aircraft have had their health increased to compensate for critical damage. Stil keep in mind this just means you are roasting in a fast moving easybake oven. Composite Armor for aircraft now also reduces Flak damage and is now 4 ranks. We still don't advise playing chicken by hovering in front of a Burster armed MAX unit. Tanks now have access to Proximity Radar certifications. A reminder if they can see you, they can run you over. Pedistrians do not have the right of way. The Liberator is now much more resistant to Flak and slightly more resistant to antiaircraft fire. Paint, better armor, silly putty on the wings. We've just stopped guessing how it's being improved. The following weapons have had some tuning adjustments. P525 Marauder G30 Vulcan Enforcer C85 Modified Light Aircraft Rotary cannons Light Aircraft special weapons Resources: Resources have been renamed to be more intuitive. Auraxium is now only rewarded to active players. This means you can probably stop killing people idling in the Warpgate. Probably. Social: Outfit tags are now displayed on player names. You can now get out there and embarrass your Outfit at will. Performance: We continue to make performance optimizations to improve your gameplay experience.

show up with a Jackhammer or Lasher to turn the tide of battle
Where's my Chaingun?
taking bets on the new resource names
taking bets on the new resource names
Galaxies and grenades are made out of Smedlium. Be honest, sounds like something they'd do on april fools or something.
"Green Resource", "Red Resource", "Yellow Resource"
Also, premature kneejerk reaction time
Vehicles now have a critical damage state. This means they are on fire. Tanks that don't have to worry about situational awareness or infantry support?
Come at me Maxes. Also I really like the new lighting for the model previews. It's a small detail, but a nice touch.
So no more base Auraxium
So no more base Auraxium
Nope, but somehow VS and TR are still afraid to go to Esamir.
The MCG cuts right through MAXes, so much for armor
Multiple planet's confirmed
Our plan is very simple. It’s continent, continent, continent, planet. We’ll add continents to a planet until we’re done with that planet. Then we’ll make another planet. We don’t want there to be the Scottish highlands on every single planet. We want them to be really different, meaningfully different. Some of those places will have continents that are empty, that players can build bases on. All of them have resources. We’ll make really super-rare resources, where if you’re on this planet and you’re fighting. This is a great example of emergent gameplay. “Here’s what we’re giving you. It’s a map. It’s empty. It’s got resources on it. GO!” They’ll build bases on it, and they’ll have to defend those bases, 24 hours a day. If people blow them up while they’re offline, tough shit. That’s what we want. We’ll see how it works.
http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/10/13/planetside-2-eq-next-and-soes-player-driven-future/
meta game? In my planetside?
That would be a nice change. They need to make water tech ASAP.
They need to make water tech ASAP.
ASAP? Not really.
ASAP? Not really.
Water is of importance to giving Vanu something to set them apart in battle strategy. It also makes the map actually look interesting instead of these plain squares we have right now. If the rumours of Searhus being the next continent after Amerish are true then they need Lava.
Will the servers be able to handle a large increase in max population? Because i'd imagine that spreading only ~2000 players across multiple continents across multiple worlds would make each area really lonely.

Unless you don't actually mean 'ASAP'. Because you know, in light of all the current problems, water doesn't take priority.
Well in PS1 the servers only seemed to crash if the player limit on the continents was raised above something like 500, there was never a problem with people fighting in other places.
Will the servers be able to handle a large increase in max population? Because i'd imagine that spreading only ~2000 players across multiple continents across multiple worlds would make each area really lonely.
It is 2000 per continent.

The only problem I have with them is to do with the current meta game.
Will the servers be able to handle a large increase in max population? Because i'd imagine that spreading only ~2000 players across multiple continents across multiple worlds would make each area really lonely.
I hope it turns out like the PS1, so a side can capture a whole area, and the battle continues elsewhere. Not sure how well it would work with new resources though
It is 2000 per continent.
Well then, this changes everything, dunnit. Also could they not have put a little more effort into the new resource names? You could call them "Infantry Alloys" or something. Still easy to understand and way better than just "Infantry" or "Aerospace". Not to mention it makes more sense, I mean "The Vanu on Indar are running low on aerospace!"
Looking forward to araxium being based on XP instead of passive. Not only will this make idling useless (making it so you can fight in low-pop territories and still make decent arax/XP), but it'll also mean I don't feel like I HAVE to only play within facility territory in order to get an Araxium XP bonus - because now I get that XP bonus everywhere, no matter what. I do think they should have facilities add to your modifier though. Like each facility you own adds +1% or +2% to your XP/Araxium gain (just like the population bonuses), in addition to whatever special features they'll feel like putting in later (i.e. you need a tech lab to have high tech attachments on your vehicles or something). That way theres a reason to hold facilities, and it makes it so you get a nice bonus if you manage to capture some while low population.
Well facilities should soon start provide empire benefits like they did in PS1. So the sole reason to provide Auraxium isn't really needed any more.
Also, premature kneejerk reaction time ugh I know the developers absolutely adore battlefield 3 but do we have to keep trying to turn this game into that? Critically damaged vehicles? Tanks that don't have to worry about situational awareness or infantry support?
Oh hey look I was right critical damage is implemented just like it was in BF3 aka shit. [editline]13th October 2012[/editline] Also Lasher is so far inferior than the other HA's it's a bit of a joke. Doesn't help that it's using placeholder graphics and no sound.
