for some reason I have more fun playing light assault on TR than I do for NC. I'm going to give NC a break for a while. TR attachments seem to be cheap as hell cert wise as well.

does it seem weird to anyone else to go entirely to certs for stuff? I really liked the two currencies before simply because you can spend your certs on small upgrades and such while saving auraxium for the big-ticket items like actual weapons now you can't buy any small upgrades or attachments without it cutting into the retirement fund
Looking forward to seeing Amerish and their other plans.

But I'm worried it might OP SC users. Not because they're buying certs but because they're buying cert weapons without cutting into the retirement fund while still enjoying the 4x cert boost to max out the character certs a lot quicker than anyone else.
I kind of agree actually. Decoupling it from the bases, tying it to XP, and making the rates noticeable drastically improved Auraxium's place in the game. Buying big items and then using certs to increase the effectiveness of those items seemed straightforward to me.
Tying it to EXP kinda works but I find it just prompted me to do anything that farmed EXP the fastest.
Certs are tied to EXP as well.
So cert gain speed is going back to where it was before the new continent update?
Speaking of Auraxium/certs, during yesterdays defence and counter-push on the crown I gained a grand total of around 4000 Aurax plus 20 certs and even more on the few hours after that. Before, in a very similar battle, I barely got shit all. Here's to hoping that the use of certs improves upon that even more.
IMO they should just make arax a purely passive gain you get whether online or offline. it gives you motivation to log on if your faction is getting hammered and you arent making your arax
So cert gain speed is going back to where it was before the new continent update?
4x current rate.
However if it takes him 2 days? That's probably not more than 0.5-1/mbs internet, which is the type of internet that would likely struggle in a full game of CSS, let alone an MMOFPS like PS2.
This is not true, in high population battles (100+ players) my bandwidth would would maybe max out at 50 kb/s, if your speed is that low it would take you so long to patch you wouldn't actaully be able to play the game. On 1.5 mbit I had two computers on a 64 Battlefield server with no lag at all, highly unlikely that CSS would lag. Also it's not only just some areas, Australia as a whole has terrible internet, $50 / month gets us 7ish mbit.
4x current rate.
Then how was the rate before the new continent update compared to the current rate?
Apparently water is now in-game on Esamir so Cleg can now cut his hair

As someone who will probably be buying all of his weapons with SC anyway, it's just going to give me an unfair advantage when I can just save all my certs for upgrades, whereas non-paying players will need to sacrifice said upgrades just to get a new weapon.
I may end up not really buying too many new weapons and just using my certs to soup up my class/current weapons. Cert gain was pretty slow but if it's too quick, people are just going to max their classes too easily.

I've got the alpha pack plus I've already had 4000 SC from the 2x deal they did ages ago. So I'm going to be set for weapons. Although I have no idea about the SC pricing I'm sure it'll more than cover kitting out my TR HA main and my VS magrider character with all the weapons they'll be wanting.
Only thing I'm buying right now is Skyguard turret. Maybe a shotgun.
Oh yeah, can't forget about the sky-guards.
Oh yeah, can't forget about the sky-guards.
My best streak so far is 41-1 at Crossroads/Crown.
0.2 kill death ratio, woo! 3/4 of those are suicides though from stupid mistakes and jumping off too high places.
Check this out http://forums.station.sony.com/ps2/index.php?threads/the-truth-behind-balance.32189/
That was a great thread. It seems TR are getting the dick when it comes to weapon balancing, and watching that video posted earlier, I think I know why. TR weapons are more affected by low FPS users than NC weapons would be due to the different fire rates. Now, that said, the NC COF is absolutely fucking ridiculous, god damn gun fires like a laser even in hipfire. Still, I think TR would be doing a lot better if the game performance was better and/or guns weren't tied to FPS.
Having not read that thread; I feel like VS and TR are pretty well balanced fighting each other, but fighting NC is just frustrating. Their guns seem to do just a bit more damage and their tank is retard proof. [editline]16th October 2012[/editline] Also FPS/ROF bug is being fixed this week or next says Smed.

They're using the old pre-rotate empire territory snapshot.
Can some one explain to me how the fps/firerate issue works? I cant get my head round it. I understand it on a basic level i.e. whats going on, but WHY is it happening?

The actual "shot per frame" isn't 1 per frame, that was just used as an example.
