Been a while since I've seen anything on the game or played it, does the NC still have a shitty nickelback soundtrack?

So I've been saving up to get the Shotgun, 3.4 scope, and slugs, but I'm curious as to just how well it actually performs. I basically want to use it as a multi-class "battle rifle" type weapon. The main question is: Are Slugs for the shotgun even good? Some say they're bad, some say they're good. If the Slugs suck, then I might not even get the gun at all and just spend the certs on other things. (Currently at 430 certs)

I play VS, but there shouldn't be a big difference. Buckshot does more damage (I believe) if all the pellets hit. Slugs only fire one projectile per shot and do less damage, so it's far easier to miss entirely. Yes, the shotgun with the default ammunition is good, but at only good at close range. It takes about three shots on average to kill an enemy. It only really beats other weapons indoors, but in my opinion, the flexibility of assault rifles makes the shotgun worthless for any class except Infiltrator, who actually benefits from not having a sniper rifle for his primary when sneaking around bases.

I guess my main concern is how many shots it takes to kill somebody with slugs. There's only 6 rounds before reloading, so if it takes 4 to kill someone that makes me pretty hesitant. Oh well. Even if it ends up being bad, I bought it anyways. I'll find out in 72 certs if slugs suck or not.
could someone who has these guns tell me; what certs do the shotguns and jackhammer/mcg have? just curious about what options they have such as optics etc

MCG has double mag capacity and laser sight, but the laser doesn't show on the model and probably doesn't do anything

The killing power I've noticed is the same as buckshot, but you can use it effectively at slightly longer ranges. The problem is that it has horrendous bullet drop and I've found I'm using it at about the same ranges as buckshot anyways so I've given it up on it entirely. With the TR shotgun I tried treating it as a very heavy AR, doing2 shot bursts but even with the grip the recoil is horrendous and you would be lucky to land the second shot at med-close ranges if you're lucky. I've found it's merely OK as a flanking weapon where you're not going to immediately take return fire because landing both shots quickly takes some time.

Probably missed something between balance and cert buying.
So basically all the asinine problems that are constantly in flux in beta anyway rather than some of the more fundamental issues?
