what the hell were they thinking when they made MBTs the way they are right now
I got into one today for longer than a 2 minute trek to my demise, and holy fuck, all that armor, all that firepower
and by the time I died the spawn timer was up and my resource pool was full again so I could just hop right back in

With engineer support and at least half as many sunderer's traveling in the pack. Welcome to the tank problem.
Is the sunderer's arm nearby vehicles ability broken? I didn't get any points for setting up near a row of firing tanks, and then I didn't give myself ammo when I drove up near it in another tank (before it disappeared, since apparently you can only own one vehicle.)

It doesn't give points.
Also I disagree with the ability to repair vehicles at the current rate. I don't think you should be able to even repair them on foot.
It doesn't give points.
That's not cool.
And it's not obvious if you're giving ammo either. A huge blue hologram saying "ammo here" like those ubiquitous ammo towers would be helpful. Your team could identify the ammo, and your enemies could identify you as the ammo guy (and so shoot you).
I guess it doesn't matter though, since you get nigh unlimited ammo in land vehicles.
yeah they really gotta do something about repairing tanks. MBTs are overpowered enough when it's not an engineer driving it

maybe require two people at once to repair it. it would definitely encourage that whole 2 people per tank thing that I've been pushing so hard
Where do I download the client?
I activated my beta key a while ago but just can't find the download.

they should have sent the link to your email
Nope, don't see it... Hopefully they send out reminders.
isn't it www.planetside2.com/download ?
Why does it run like shit?

who knows, really
it runs different degrees of shit for all of us
so no patch?
I was kind assuming this full weekend with no server downtime would be for the new cont and getting things more like they'll be at release.
Patch postponed to tmw - 13 hours ago
Ah right.
Eitherway I'm looking forward to amerish.
They're right that they're getting better at making conts each time, hopefully the inclusion of all the PS1 classics will be even better.
I wonder what they'll do about Cyssor. I actually really loved that back in the day... but I was a mag pilot.
Why do NC feel weaker compared to the other factions? This is me being a whiny bitch because they always seem to kill more of ours than we do of theirs.

it's funny because your statement is diametrically opposed to reality.

They talked in the stream about how the engineer tool is going to build up heat if it's used too frequently, so it will slow the tide of engineers fixing up tanks instantly. Even if there are a ton of engineers, it at least reduces their effectiveness as a group since some will be incapacitated for like maybe 15-30 seconds while their tools cool down.
I disagree though, requiring two people to repair an MBT sounds like a terrible idea. It's bad enough waiting around for one engineer to finally respond to my repair request, and waiting for two would be even more difficult as the first would probably just get bored and walk away.
I also dislike the idea of completely incapacitating a tank if it even takes a little damage. By that I mean the damage you take when just going over difficult terrain. I certainly don't want to get into a tank fight when my armor is down to like 80% and then half to wait for two engineers to come by to fix it.
It would overall make tanks even bigger deathtraps and a tank zerg even more successful as there would be so many damaged tanks that the two engineer teams wouldn't be able to help create a buffer of surviving tanks to counter it. Not to mention alternative fire from rockets and aircraft.
I mean that suggestion would require a fucking army of engineers following around tank columns for them to have any sustainability.
That, or it forces everyone in the column to become an engineer and have the time to stop and repair every time a tank takes fire. Not to mention even more of a delay in tank repairs if one of the engineers is killed by enemy infantry.
No, I think that the solution mentioned by Higby for engineers is appropriate, where engineers serve more as a 'tank triage' unit in a tank battle than just grouping around a tank and brute force healing it. That allows for tanks that are already damaged to retreat back behind enemy lines and get repairs in safety in a sort of staggered manner as I don't think a sole engineer will be able to totally repair a tank on his own (much in the manner you seem to want in your suggestion) without imposing some arbitrary requirement on it.
As for the whole discrete gunner issue for MBTs, I'm on the fence.
On one hand, it would make tanks MUCH easier to avoid and survive, and kill from an infantry standpoint, as communication between the gunner and driver is bound to be delayed and hazy.
On the other, I feel like if I'm putting points into a tank for a new cannon I should be able to use it to it's fullest extent without having to rely on another person's learning curve. And again, I think Higby's solution as having it as an advanced cert with some higher powered weaponry would be a more effective use of the turret gunner than just regular tank to tank fighting.
I think it would be fun as hell to communicate to my driver or gunner when I have a proper tank hunting cannon about where targets are and what I need to avoid. Think it would just be frustrating to have that communication block when dealing with the lower powered cannons, considering every shot has to count for ranging and firing, which can be done much more naturally in my opinion if you're also driving the vehicle.

I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic or serious.
Anyways, this phenomena I've found is purely related to who you're playing with and the time of day it is.
Sometimes I'm on NC and we are shitting all over the other two factions, and sometimes we are lucky if a single op goes our way.

The only phenomena is that it only appears to apply to the other two factions regardless of which you hear the whiners play.
As higby once said, if all the sides are whining that the others are OP then they've probably got it just about right.

Sure, there's that. But regardless of whether the game is mechanically balanced, stronger and weaker ones interchange throughout the day based on timezone so that would make it seem like one side is 'better' than the others because more competent people happen to be on at one time or another.
it's funny because your statement is diametrically opposed to reality.
Long words :saddowns: :v:
Whenever I'm on, we're always fighting at fucking Broken Arch road, attempting to take the crossroads watchtower (it's always held by vanu). We push up to it, and when we do, in come the elmos and then we get attacked on both sides, and therefore are forced to retreat. Rinse and Repeat.
Lightning AP shell seems totally useless
Takes like 5-8 direct hits in a weak spot to take down an MBT with one, and you can only do one shot of the thing once every 5-6 seconds
At least with the default shell you can damage infantry as well, and spam fire over a large area which acts as kind of a measure of supression or weakening a larger force.
OK, I'm going to go ahead and say you're exaggerating like hell.
It doesn't even take that many shells to kill an MBT by hitting the front of it's armor. So either you're having some MAJOR latency issues, or you're exaggerating like fuck.
It takes 3 engine shots to kill an MBT with AP rounds. I've done it to a prowler with full health as well as a mag rider. Not to mention I've been able to easily snipe at both tanks from pretty far distances with little need for barrel elevation.
And on that note it isn't supposed to be super effective against front armor. It's a light tank. I use it to support the larger MBTs during tank battles because the shells do a shit ton of damage for what they're worth.
You're also dead wrong about the fire rate as well. It fires one shot every 2-3 seconds.
Please learn how to use the AP rounds before making senseless, whiny complaints about them. Fuck, I also find them useful for taking out Infantry as well when you get the hang of them. You can practically snipe them with it.
Why does High explosive round does more damage that Ap rounds on tanks,HE rounds is devastating against infantry.
They don't.

hey
stop that
i need to shoot stuff

don't leave me :(
it's even worse than before, there they atleast tried to stay with the tank.
Soon they will fly off, away from the tank, going out amazing adventures on their own and fighting off NC and Vanu tank cannons.
oh shit time to make a TR soldier named "Parts" and stay at level 1

Took me a second to catch on. Haha
The one thing that throws me off to no end about this is apparently a max unit with two bursters can take out a galaxy single handedly within seconds
what the hell
