I feel really discouraged when I play this, because I have no idea what's going on 100% of the time. Wish there was a tutorial of some sort (though that's not easy in an MMO)

I just sort of randomly wander around and get shot. I don't know where people are trying to go or how to capture things :(
Finding a friend to teach you how the game works should be your first step. I imagine someone on youtube has made a tutorial series by now, so you can do that instead.
I just sort of randomly wander around and get shot. I don't know where people are trying to go or how to capture things :(
use the map, go towards bases near the border of your faction's controlled area
Beta key here up for grabs: C6K3-XKJ2-PKKT-TAND-RE9M
If they create tons of new buildings the file size of the game goes up exponentially because every variation of a structure is a new structure. Its a pretty big limitation. The general feel of bases will always be the same as long as they use the same prefabs. I remember on Esamir one of the bases had several underground tunnels that go under the walls, the base felt the same but there was new ways of getting in.
It's like this for every terrain based engine, and other games can get by with it fine (see unreal tournament or Crysis series). All they have to do is make their models modular instead of all one building. That way you can mix and match pieces and swap out parts in-engine, or in the modeling program, without having to make a whole new building and building layout for every base that shares that same style.

They are basically :suicide: I'm pretty sure Unreal and Crytech still let you make everything out of brushes.
they aught to just do something so that you're fighting in the terrain more often than the bases
they aught to just do something so that you're fighting in the terrain more often than the bases
Escorts!
I really wish I could enjoy this game more than I do, but no real progress is ever made. Seriously the TR will have half the continent, I go to another one and fight there for no joke 10 fucking minutes and come back to see the first continent is being dominated by the NC. Plus factions barely get any benefits for controlling continents. More vehicle resources? Cool story by the time the vehicle cooldown is over all your resources are back anyway. PS2 desperately needs a meta game because as is all your fighting is pointless and it's just like any other FPS just on a larger scale. Bullshit this is ready to release in 2 weeks.

I was in apparently the first ever battalion operation earlier today. It consisted of about 4 or so platoons worth of players. Somehow, we failed at pushing the TR back to their warpgate, and only managed to take one or two areas and defend them. I logged off a bit later to watch The Walking Dead, so I don't know how the event ended if it ever did yet.
Anyone know if flashbang is any good?
Anyone know if flashbang is any good?
Not really. It raises the gamma on your screen a bit but doesn't actually white anything out. Fairly small radius as well. [editline]4th November 2012[/editline] Smoke grenades also suck, and C4 is available on better classes. LA sucks.
But jetpacks.
Useful in maybe 10% of combat scenarios, as opposed to heavy assault which gets a better weapon, anti-tank ability, and a damage reduction/mitigation shield. Also conc nades are better than smoke and flash combined.

If I got dual pistols and could pretend I'm Jango Fett I might be more invested.
If I got dual pistols and could pretend I'm Jango Fett I might be more invested.
I really want SOE to hire you like, right now.
I suggested it on the forums and got a bunch of nerdes telling me that it's not realistic. Yeah because a soldier using two low caliber handguns isn't realistic but technical immortality and instant transmission are just fine.
12k station cash. Gonna buy a solid gold prowler at release
Flying a galaxy to a zone when all of a sudden I got kicked out of it and killed. Luckily there was only 4 people in it but they said it didn't blow up. What was that about? edit:Same thing just happened to me again but this time with my Sunderer but this time it just killed me and vanished.
Anybody want a key?

is it me or is the Magshot pistol a portable sniper rifle and SMG in one I love it

Yeah because a soldier using two low caliber handguns isn't realistic but technical immortality and instant transmission are just fine.
It's still stupid though. immortality is just science handwavium for having respawns which are inherently needed. Dualtards running around will just look silly. There is always two types of ~realism~ when it comes to fiction. Excusable ones needed for narrative development such as FTL travel and so on, the second is where things just get silly unless you decide to write some tedious backstory how humans have somehow developed the ability to use two simultaneous weapons while still being combat effective.
it's not like we have any exosuits with humans piloting using two weapons either that would be preposterous
Yeah with computers and servos and everything
