Just make it a tool. you shoot it and it goos you up like the heavy shield and you can pass through.
Apparently, TR is not very good at tactics. One base cap and they lost all resources on the map. Twenty minutes later, apparently NC is not that good at tactics either, angry terrans strike back:
It's the problem when you've got like 30 people online between the whole server. My squad made up the 10%. When we logged on we had nothing, so we pushed the killfarmers back and started retaking. We just took the amp station before I got bored.
Is instant action multi-continent now? I just hot dropped onto the crown from Amerish.
just give infiltrators a grappling hook [editline]9th November 2012[/editline] whoops new page
Why in hell would the LA need a grappling hook? Their jump jets to the job just fine.
I wasn't thinking of the LA whoring it to himself, but tossing one and letting his teammates climb the rope.
I swear nobody in this game shoots at airplanes. It was me and a friend supplying me ammo, and we shot every jet in the area to 1/8 health, but then they'd fly away as I reloaded. If one AA can do that, then really you should be able to clear the entire visible airspace with three guys. Three guys is all it takes to stop having every vehicle shot to death from missiles, and nobody does it.
The Mosquito's M14 Banshee is awesome. It's basically a rotary autocannon that shoots EXPLOSIONS. Rapes infantry, and the best part is they get almost no warning about their imminent rape, unlike the big SHOOT ME HERE missile trails from the dumbfire rocket pods.
Sometimes this game can be so incredibly fucking fun. Other times this game can be so boring that you just want to log out and play later when it might be more fun. The sad thing is that I don't even think there's a way that this problem could be remedied.
Does other empire can hear my proximity mic? Havent noticed before.
Just a quick question, what does the "Squelch other channels" button do in the voice options? Because I pressed it and I don't think I can hear voice comms anymore.
Why not just give the infiltrator a shield diffuser just like the sunderer, that makes it so he can go through shields for a breif moment. Replaces invisibility ability, so its more balanced (you'll be able to go through shields but you won't be able to easily sneak around everywhere). Though I guess that would kind of undermine an infiltrator, that couldn't cloak. Because the cloaking is best for actual infiltraton, but the most valuble targets to be infiltrated will always be behind shields which means you'll never go for the thing that makes you invisible if you want to actually infiltrate bases.
thing is, the cloak really is the infiltrator's best defense against getting shot and killed. I don't have any evidence that isn't personal and anecdotal, but they have the weakest shields and armor out of everyone. An infiltrator without the ability to cloak is essentially a flightless bee; they are exceedingly easy to kill even and the damage they would do to the defenders of a base would be almost nil. I mean what would they even be able to do without drawing considerable attention? If they go for shield generators, they would have to rely on the defenders being particularly oblivious for them to go down without a fight, and the only weapon I can think of that would enable them to slip away would be a shotgun/claymore combo. I guess there could be some equipment that makes shield gens go down much faster though. But other than that it doesn't seem like there would be much else the infiltrator could do other than some mild base harassment, which would be cut short with anyone with two working brain cells. Just seems incredibly situational and puts the infiltrator at a huge disadvantage unless they also got access to some really powerful sabotage gear. Like some sort of remote emp charge that when detonated temporarily disabled vehicles/turrets/enemy infantry shields within a certain radius. would be pretty bad ass just disabling some MBTs that were camping a shield gate entrance, or turning off one of their important sunderers for like 30 seconds or more. [editline]9th November 2012[/editline]
Does other empire can hear my proximity mic? Havent noticed before.
Yes, they can. Or at least earlier they could. I remember sneaking into an enemy held bio lab and running behind one of the landing pads and yelling loudly into my mic while in prox, which scared the hell out of one guy and got the others to start investigating and yelling in turn lol. [editline]9th November 2012[/editline]
I wasn't thinking of the LA whoring it to himself, but tossing one and letting his teammates climb the rope.
Well, aside from some balance issues the main problem I can see would be the rope physics. Unless it was some sort of zipline system which would only work one way it would be really wierd seeing people just sort of float straight up, like in the source engine games. The other issue is that the bases aren't really designed or balanced for it, and aside from making them into more enclosed fights, I can see it still being abused pretty heavily. You get units and loadouts that were never meant to be in places they find themselves in an easy and repeatable manner slaughtering defenders with ease. Eliminates a lot of the defender's control of a facility.
Just a quick question, what does the "Squelch other channels" button do in the voice options? It sounds like you have filtered everything out.
Generally squelching a radio channel refers to filtering out signals that you don't want. It sounds like you have filtered everything out.
Yeah, I realised a few minutes ago that it actually just turned all my comms volumes to 0%. I then proceeded to shoot myself.
It's a shame that big battles are the funnest part of the game, yet the performance issues just destroy all the fun it in. I usually just avoid them now, because I hate when the fps drop to 10. I wish they can do something about this, even though small to medium encounters are still really fun.
Kinda hate how I have to run the game at low or else my FPS is like 10, even though I can run modern games at maximum witouth problems
Speaking of Infiltrators...
BTW Infiltrators can no longer equip shotguns. >___> #WeAllSawItComing #Planetside2

Infiltrators get awesome Scout Rifles though. #Planetside2

Speaking of Infiltrators...
Welp, shotguns are useless now.
Welp, shotguns are useless now.
Light Assault disagrees.
This may just stem from me getting angry over losing the shotgun, but that seems like a bit of a poor decision. I know that the infiltrator being able to cloak and having a weapon that does most damage at close range is more than a bit powerful, but come on. I obviously haven't used scout rifles yet, so I can't vouch for their usefulness in CQB, but as an infiltrator wanting to do some actual infiltration pre-shotgun any enemy encounter amounted to me cloaking and running the fuck away as quickly as possible (as a terran, mind you). Now, obviously the infiltrator isn't supposed to be a CQB powerhouse, but given how easily people see you as an infiltrator even when cloaked and how little health you have, taking away one of the most effective CQB weapons seems like a bum deal. I thought the idea of Planetside 2's class/cert system was to make it so that with time you could create a class that works best for you. As it stands, infiltrators seem to be forced into engaging at long distance, which I don't particularly enjoy, and unless this has changed in the last few patches, the Planetside 2 devs also removed the suit modifications that would allow for stronger melee. Again, scout rifles might be excellent for mid-to-close range combat, but as it stands, I can't help but feel like infiltrators are becoming the de facto sniper class, with very little deviation. Edit: Also, I haven't been keeping up lately, did they ever get around to making it so infiltrators get EXP for hacking consoles/turrets?
Good change, game doesn't need invisible people killing you in one shot.
How easy do you think it is to spot a cloaked infiltrator? Unless they run right past your nose or you somehow know the general location of one, they are not easy to spot. If you're on low settings you can forget about even trying, they literally don't render.
I think it's piss easy to see infiltrators, except at night; If I'm guarding a base, zoomed in while driving my tank or inside a turret, I'll pop them from 200 meters away when I see a shimmer running across a road or through trees. (High settings) VS infiltrators are especially easy to find, as they basically have a giant glow-in-the-dark crosshair painted on their head when uncloaked. [editline]9th November 2012[/editline] I'm okay with Infiltrators losing their shotgun, but they should get a SMG or be able to strip the scope off of their rifles.
ugh removing shotguns from inf is awful and the class makes no sense I don't even get the class because cloaking + sniping ?? doesn't make sense.
I find it hard to see infiltrators because they are literally invisible on low settings.
ugh removing shotguns from inf is awful and the class makes no sense I don't even get the class because cloaking + sniping ?? doesn't make sense.
All they will do now is camp and snipe, at least with the shotguns they were encouraged to "infiltrate".
They should have a role beyond "that class that has the sniper rifle" but that role should not be invisible shotgun warrior.
I find it hard to see infiltrators because they are literally invisible on low settings.
"Infiltrators should be nerfed because I can't see them when playing on my snes"
"Infiltrators should be nerfed because I can't see them when playing on my snes"
I never said they should be nerfed. Also snes lol? This game is blatantly unoptimized. My friend gets less FPS than I do with his GTX 560/i7 rig. It's a ridiculous oversight that the infiltrator is designed to be blurry for people playing on medium and high but is totally invisible on low. Are you high?

Last time I gave it a try it had shit accuracy and could barely hit people, I just used the needler against infantry and light vehicles.
