It used to happen when moving into new zones full of players.

I believe so, it doesn't give points if the damage is friendly or really small amounts. And they added a cool down to it.

cool. I'm not really bothered about getting points for repairing, I was just sick and tired of futilely hosing down tanks with the repair gun while they were slowly being destroyed because the gun only worked in a tiny, completely invisible sweet spot
Sometimes when I open the map my monitor will literally turn off and then back on again. Luckily I've not been checking my map in the midst of battle but.. I'm hoping they will fix that. I don't even understand how or why it does that

Sounds like your graphics driver is crashing, you might want to check the logs.
I think it would be interesting if they gave the option to use plain ironsights on the sniper rifles or maybe a reflex sight on them. It would be cool to see how the high damage vs. low firing rate would play out in close/mid range.
What server are you all playing in, i was on eu2 but now that they all have completely nondescript names i have no idea what is going on.

The same way it plays out in battlefield 3, probably.
You get the jump on your target, you will probably win. You don't and you will die.
There is an increased priority to aim for the head since it's a 1 hit KO, but it would play out in a similar way slow firing/pump action shotguns work, except less aggressively.
I would like the ability to remove the scope on the semi auto though because I prefer using semi auto weapons, much more satisfying and I feel like more skill is involved.
This game royally pisses me off when 47 tanks can't kill a single fucking HA. No, I'm not complaining the HA is too powerful, I'm complaining that sometimes your team is filled with dumbfucks.
Skyguard cannons really should be able to kill light aircraft with one magazine, at least at close range. Even if you're shooting at a perfectly stationary Reaver, requires more than 40 shots (the magazine capacity) to kill it, and the gun has no magazine capacity addons.

It's less important when you generally have like 3-4 skyguards per sector.

A single skyguard shouldn't be able to deny air in any reasonable capacity. Especially when there is always at least 4 or 5 of them accompanying most armor columns.
It's essentially the same reason why they're nerfing the A2G rocket spam so a single reaver can't take out a tank in one pass.
I still think that a Skyguard, a tank with no capacity to do anything but shoot at airplanes, should be able to down a fighter at point blank range with a complete magazine. You can change the falloff, that's fine, but it seems wrong that a full magazine can't kill one at point blank range.
Also, MAX's are better than skyguards at the moment I feel. They're harder for a plane to hit, and they can re-outfit to not be useless when there aren't airplanes around.

I don't agree with this really
I mean sure, not everything has to be balanced for 1v1, but if you spend resources on a versatile air fighter, and I spend roughly the same amount on an extremely specific counter to that one thing, why should I lose a 1v1 confrontation?
the skyguard literally cannot do jack shit except its one specific role: taking out light aircraft, so why the hell do you need three or four of them to take down one guy?

I mean at close range - even at effectively point blank range (sub 50 meters), a Skyguard cannot kill a Reaver ( and probably a Scythe) without reloading. If the aircraft comes from the sides or from above, it'll easily kill the tank before the aircraft takes critical damage. Even in my poorly armored Mosquito, I can kill Skyguards easily as long as I know where they are and I don't attack from the front.

Honestly they need to just seriously rethink how the skyguard works
Its hopelessly broken/OP if it can easily down a single aircraft in a single clip because you can generally snipe/hit targets 700m+ out, which means a single skyguard can easily deny an entire airspace. This is ESPECIALLY true because the thing is basically a mobile turret. It has easy 360 degree access to hit anywhere in the sky around them, while ESF's can't just shoot their volley of rockets easily at any target within 700m of them - they have to line up the shot and basically face/go right at their target. People really underestimate the advantage you have just being able to shoot into the sky without having to deal with your movement speed, vector, etc. All you do is point and click which makes it very easy to target [B]multiple enemies[/B] while an ESF can only ever target a single enemy at a time.
This is exactly why they were so OP before, because they could take down an ESF in one volley, while possessing the natural "turret-esque" advantage of being able to easily target anything in the sky and attack multiple targets.
The problem is now of course, is that they were nerfed in DPS to account for this natural advantage, which in turn makes them really situational/useless because you can't really use it for much more than a deterrent. Which ideally, is how it should be, but the way you go about doing that is rather counter intutive.
IMO they need to just redesign the gun on the thing to make it so its very deadly in close range (aka works even better than it did before), but not that great at long ranges. I suggested before that they should make it out to be more like a shotgun than a constant stream of death. That way you have to dedicate your shots to a single target, and you have to aim it well to make a hit (all or nothing). It'll make it so at really long ranges it'll be easier to hit targets due to the shot spread being much larger, but not that much damage is dealt because it's impossible for all the pellets to hit. Meanwhile, if you are really up close or within 300m or so, a good well-aimed shot would decimate an ESF.
Alternatively, they could keep the chaingun motief, but make it work a lot like the BF3 AA guns - TONS of fire down range, but terrible accuracy and recoil to where a single bullet hit from a skyguard does poor damage, and you'll hardly hit anything at long ranges, but up close enough bullets will start hitting to do some good stuff, and if its REALLY close you'll be able to shred.

I just got into the beta on a whimsy and haven't cared about PS in fifteen aeons. Is VS still the best faction for a man of action with a penchant for sniping? It sounds like some people are saying NC is the new thang for cerebral weight loss surgery.

I tend to die to NC snipers more.
If you're going to be sniping though, please don't sit around all day in one spot waiting for someone to show up. Find a fight and be an accurate rifelman along with the rest of your assaulting team.
