Rename them to Ingsoc while you're at it.
I went NC originally because of the backstory but then I realized that doesn't rly matter and I like the base TR guns better
I play nearly exclusively NC now because reaver
Speaking of NC...

Played planetside 1 for eight years. Gonna love getting back into this game.
I've played all sides roughly evenly but will probably play VS when it comes out because I have more friends there. Also op vanu tank spam.
I stick with TR because I've met a lot of cool dudes and found an outfit, even if my outfit isn't doing anything i've got a backup platoon I can roll with.
Sometimes I form my own platoon because telling people what to do is fun, also taking a tech station through ordering dudes around with some heavy resistance is satisfying as fuq

I pulled an all-nighter to get in this vid, but fell asleep about 30 minutes before they started.
EDIT: Oh I just realised you're Whalenator. I just recognised your avatar. :D
We almost shut Vanu out of Indar on Thebes. We were two tiles away from their warp gate but they suddenly pushed with a vengeance. so closseee
It was awful, You could see the warp gate off in the distance, we were so close.

Our platoon cut off NC p bad last night it was super satisfying
Another 2Gb patch, goddamnit!
I've stopped patching, you have to download the whole game again on the 20th anyway.
I've been trying to download this game for over a month. I leave it on overnight, but then if I don't play it the next day there is a new continent or inexplicable multi-gb patch that pops up and I'm back to square 1.
I'm not going to invest as much time as I'd like because I simply cannot play an FPS at 20 FPS.
Oh, I love having a GTX 670
But a lot of my friends cant play with me because unoptimization

You cannot stop us
You cannot stop the future
We were really close to getting cont domination on all 3 conts. We totally lost Amerish but we still held out a few territories (keeping our bonus), and we were making serious headway on indar last night but we couldn't really push that much farther than we did
Why do people find flying so hard?
Why do people find flying so hard?
Holding W and aiming where you want to go is hard for some people.
My main issue with flying is that the mouse controls rolling and you steer with A and D, even though the mouse does still control moving up and down. I'd be much happier if it was like Arma 2's flying system where the mouse controls the steering and you turn with the mouse. It makes a lot more sense considering you can turn in pretty much any direction while flying so regulating it to two keys doesn't make much sense.
A and D is not your primary turning function.
Unless you enjoy 2km wide turning circles.

Obviously I don't turn that way in dogfights, but I still don't like the control mechanic. I'm just used to A and D being roll, that's all.

I think a and d are rudder in most flying games
Why do people find flying so hard?
because the only games that have decent vehicle controls is the halo series
That said, I don't think LA's should get full assault rifles/carbines and such, because it doesn't make sense for a class that is so mobile. SMG-style weapons, shotguns, and support weapons (like snipers) are perfect for it though.
Given the number of LA people I play with, and seeing a good number of them overall, giving them snipers would be disastrous. Good luck trying to get at the half dozen snipers perched in various nooks and crannies in the structure of an amp station.
They serve much better as a front line rapid assault unit, so SMGs and shotguns would be perfect for them. Their main purpose is to sow confusion and destruction in a facility before the other classes can breach the walls. Jump packs are perfect for hiding their number count, and c4 is great for sapping tanks and sunderers.
Anyone here that use a saitek X52 for flying in this game? wondering how well it works for it, tempted to buy one for this.
holy shit i'm tired of getting rammed while flying, it's either my teammates or enemies who don't have enough patience to break off so they just keep going

well tbh when they release a new continent or any really big patch they usually mention it ahead of time.
I agree with the smaller multi gig patches though, especially when they are slow to post the bug fix.

I've only ever been rammed by team mates who have no idea what spatial awareness is. I have accidentally rammed an enemy scythe before though when we both turned the same way in a dogfight. I felt kinda bad for that because he probably thought I was just being a cheap cunt.
TR master race!
Why do people find flying so hard?
Dunno
I'm naturally good at it after having played lots of flight simulators.
Some tips*
1. Use your vertical thrusters to gain extra maneuverability and speed (230 kmh). This also allows you to tilt your view so that you fly like a helicopter. With this it is possible to attack ground targets without having to steer directly at the enemy, you keep going forward as normal which can be very useful when doing quick strafing runs and avoiding structures.
2. Having problems taking off from the ground? or do you crash when you get into combat? try to invert your mouse control!
3. Get thermal vision and rocket/photon pods. In notime you will be laughing like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrbKkCp43Ek whilst you are blasting entire groups of enemies to pieces.
4. Plan your attack! Example: http://filesmelt.com/dl/masterplan.jpg
5. Attack enemy vehicles and aircrafts from their dead angles to avoid being shotdown by their machine guns.
6. When scouting for enemies use height to your advantage. Rotate your aircraft so that you can use first person freelook to look down. http://filesmelt.com/dl/Height.jpg

I've got an X45 which is close enough, works fine after mapping some of the buttons to keyboard commands with SST.
It can flake out and require remapping a lot though, but it's early days.

I tried Vanu today because the population was so skewed on my main server which I play TR on, I gotta say since i'm always wearing a headset the guns are fucking beautiful, no more harsh blat blats just soothing thuu thuus. Along with trying out some other stuff like vehicles I've become a convert
