Barfo to these server issues.
Can anybody tell me how to fly a fighter jet thingy without being totally useless? I'll empty my entire magazine into an enemy fighter, and it'll just roll away and be fine. I can do the same to a tank on the ground, and they'll just kind of look around, like, "huh?"
I can't even kill people with the darn thing. They're too small, and it's too twitchy to aim the main gun directly onto them (apparently you have to land direct hits with your great big gigantic explodey laser minigun?).
I might get a couple of assists here and there, and on occasion I'll pick off a low health lightning or something, but actually taking something down mono e mono? Fuhgeddaboudit.
I mean, surely the fighters must be able to accomplish something without the 1000 cert rocket pods... Right?
Make sure there are no fighters around/aa and find your target. Do a slight diving attack on your target (tanks are really easy to do this to) and then when you pull up go to 900 meters and lose all your speed and nose dive on the target while holding s.
It takes like 4 magazines to kill a tank.
Has anyone else been unable to equip titles today?
Default fighters have a main gun that is incapable of denting anything.
Has one of the highest DPS ingame. It's pretty good against anything.

Unless you cough up money for a rocket pod, then you can do it in one. How can these developers possibly argue that this isn't a pay-to-win game?

Four full magazines to kill a tank doesn't sound "pretty good" to me. That's basically your entire ammo reserve, over about two minutes, to take out one target. Meanwhile, you're dead the second somebody notices you.
Is there a way to rebind the mouse as a joystick for flying? I'm not fond of having the roll on the mouse X-Axis.
Is their a way to turn all shadows off, my computer craps itself when 400 tanks all draw shadows, i'm tiered of constantly playing on 20 fps because I cant disable them. I tried changing shadows to 0 in the options.ini but it doesn't work.

It should only really take two good passes. You just got to remember the armour sides and damage degradation.
is the back the weakest on a lightning?
also what would be better, front or side armour?
It goes Front, side, top, back in order of weakness.

I will join you.
We should make an outfit, League of Terrifying Max Units.
EDIT: We all also got to work on our Bane voices for prox chat.

That fucking sucks.
Two, four, whatever. The point is, this game has some serious balance issues between free players and paying players, especially when it comes to vehicles. In every vehicle, in every instance, the 1000 cert unlocks are a direct upgrade, and a very, very dramatic one. The only potential exclusion to this is the MBT's, but even still, their heat round cannons are better than the default versions in pretty much every way.
Take a Liberator with default guns vs. a Liberator with a Dalton. Zero contest about who's the bigger threat. Ditto all fighters, ditto Lightnings, ditto Main Battle Tanks (to a lesser degree). I'm having a lot of fun as infantry, but the vehicular balance is so borked that there's just no way I want to spend a month or more to grind the certs needed to become viable with any of them, because the default vehicle setups are so ineffectual that they're not even fun, and there's no way I'm going to drop money just to get on even ground.
All of the servers seem to be fine for me
I wouldn't call them ineffectual and not fun. I had a blast in stock magrider and scythe before I upgraded them.
But a tank with an upgraded secondary is still always going to be better.
What the devs should have done was make the vehicles scale in spawn costs depending how much shit you upgraded it by.
How the fuck do I have the veteran title for playing Planetside 1. When I've never played it.
I have it too :v:

I don't know honestly, it's true that some of the side-grades are devastatingly effective in certain situations but for the most part the default stuff is fairly well balanced.
for example the tank guns, the default excels at nothing but can do everything, it's arguable whether it's balanced but I wouldn't call it useless, and the default lib gun is extremely easy to use
[editline]edit[/editline]
for me the more obvious imbalance are the non-weapon upgrade slots such as defense and utility, which goes down the bf3 route of giving you nothing to start with, so that people more experienced get direct and often very powerful upgrades (even when within that slot the choices are fairly balanced to each-other), similar to how faction specific fighters were without rocket pods before they got afterburner tanks

Yeah titles seem really fucked up today. I got it too as well as a bunch of rank titles even though I was playing on a fresh character. Also I can't equip any titles either.

The shredder on the liberator from what I can tell is actually very effective at shooting down aircraft. Meanwhile the dalton and the zephyr cant hit anything in the air.
Also about the ASF weapons seeming to be rape the rocket pods are not a one magazine kill for tanks and it takes about 3-4 near hits to kill infantry. The A2A missiles are also not as deadly as they seem once you get flares and many times when I used A2A missiles I couldve just easily used the main gun instead.
I disagree. We may have the worst playerbase, but the burst damage and heavy armor make up for it.
Plus, the lower IQ means they are easier to lead. Just yell at them in prox voice or the chat, then once 3-5 vehicles are going the same direction, the entire army follows them.
The smarter players really show in the middle of a battle, seriously sit back and watch a big fight over an objective.
You can clearly make out the leaders and the drones following them.

I think that's the big advantage of NC, we have a lot of dumb players but they listen to the good ones.
Why are NC and TR have huge Max's where Vanu's are just tall dudes.

I love it when you can get a sunderer in just the right place, and watch the cannon fodder flow through that AMS so fast your screen is constantly bombarded by 2xp notifications.
Also, in big battles, Im only a leader when Im MAX and I get an engineer to pocket heal me. People like following MAXes.

I just found this in a random google image search for Planetside 2 wallpapers.
Wat.
Apparently the New Conglomerate has the best most beautiful flowing hair. Maybe I should defect to them considering most of us TR have just crappy buzzcuts.
As much as I want to pimp out my MAX, I love the stock build too much. Scattercannon rips infantry limb from limb, and the falcon does decent damage to tanks and infantry.
Does AA in general just suck? I find that on most bases (TR) we just get swarmed with Galaxies and gunships which, unfortunately, even our own planes do fuck-all to dent them while they're pounding the shit out of our ground troops.
Do a lot of people play NC in PS2 or is it just the people in this thread? I used to play them back in PS1 a lot, but I don't want to join an overpopulated faction
it's pretty balanced on briggs (AU)
jooiiiinnnnn usssss

If your squishy one man fighter is the only thing on the battlefield capable of attempting to take down a tank, then your faction has already lost the battle. The way I see it, the initial role of an ESF, without any upgrades is to provide air cover, and stop any other possibly upgraded aircraft from interfering with things on the ground.
The upgrades are there to specialize, and while you can go with an air superiority main gun and air to ground rockets in an attempt to multi task, you WILL lose in any engagement to someone with lock on rockets, unless they're a shitty pilot. Which can't be helped. The only direct advantage as far as vehicle weapons to buy I can think of is the HEAT main gun for the lightning. It's only 250 certs however, and can easily be obtained with a week of casual play, or 2 days of hardcore planetsiding.
If Vanu on Briggs I'm DoomsDayDanu
