I miss the Gunships from 2142... Those things felt more solid then the fighters in PS2. The drifting controls and a frame that still allowed for hovering made it an interesting hybrid between helos and fighters. The fighters in PS2 just feel like... arrows. They feel as if they have no mass. I guess really I just want more sound effects like straining engines and a hudshake here and there when you're diving or something. And what is the difference between the Gauss Rifle, the Gauss Rifle S and the Gauss Rifle Burst? The burst is obviously... a burst variant of the standard, and the S has far more attachments, but the S also claims to have a select fire. Does it also have burst? I mean if it does then there is literally no reason other than the difference in certs to not save and to get that one. And then theres the DMR, which just feels like a lot of fun. And the GR-22... Is that one more like a PDW or something? MP7 was always fun to use in BF3... I wonder if its similar. Oh well, more trialing needed.
after the patch you mean, because the default version rapidly loses altitude whenever you fire the chaingun
Never noticed that, when was that patch released? Haven't played for quite a while.
ages ago, 2007 probably i kept firing at the aliens and freaked out when the VTOL just started plummeting to the ground and i couldn't get it back up due to the physics screwing up or something :v:
OH. And important question since i can't trial it. How many bricks does one get when you unlock C4 and how does it play? Do you place it on vehicles/surfaces and hit alt fire or something? Can you place it on your own vehicles? This is very important and directly affects whether or not I invest in C4.
You only get 1 brick per life so long as you've spent infantry points like you would grenades. Each brick costs 100 infantry points, you switch to to the detonator, alt to place and fire to detonate. A brick does about ~75% damage to a Lightning, ~50% to MBT's, ~40% to Sunderers and absolutely decimates MAXs. My numbers aren't exactly accurate and am only basing them off of the damage I've done to enemy units. Pretty sure you can attach them onto your own vehicles but haven't tried using it Battlefield style I love it but it isn't exactly worth the 200 certs since you only get 1 when you spawn.

There needs to be some sort of reason to NOT cont-lock. I hopped on Helios to play, hopped into a quick squad, and was bumped from Indar to Esamir, for some stupid reason. Why would you pop someone across continents for quick squad? Anyways, VS holds the entire continent. Fine. We'll push them back. We get a full squad and some randoms (granted the quick squad is likely all randoms), and start pushing. We can't cap and hold a single territory because all VS has to do is get an inkling of organization and vehicle spam the location and they've got it uncontested. And because they only have to hold THREE territories, it means we're absolutely fucked no matter where we go!
How visible are the charges? I was thinking you could sneak up and place em somewhere as an infiltrator and blow em when some silly walks on em, effectively laying a trap. MORE GLORY FOR THE TERRAN REPUBLIC!

MORE GLORY FOR THE TERRAN REPUBLIC!
If you're being cautious you could probably see it just before running over it but put it in a place where someone would probably be more worried about getting to cover than looking for traps and they're fucked. As a Light Assault it's fun hovering above unsuspecting enemy MAXs, drop a charge and setting it off before they hear you.
step 1: place a c4 charge in one of the biolab teleporter rooms step 2: wait for the enemy to cap the corresponding point step 3: drown in points
How much does one brick of c4 do? And does it stick to vehicles?
How much does one brick of c4 do? And does it stick to vehicles?
yes it sticks to vehicles. in the beta it took 2 c4s to blow up a lightning

We cap a point, they spawn MAXes and Lightnings and Scythes and just roll EVERYTHING. What the fuck are we supposed to do? They can just run around, any time their armor/health is low, just run away and repair. But we're forced to be sitting ducks to be able to even TRY to hold the fucking points and cap a location to push out and actually try to take even a single hex back.
So it pretty much oneshots non flak jacket grunts? [editline]29th November 2012[/editline] Also what's a good rooftop carbine for TR assaults? [editline]29th November 2012[/editline] https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?key=0AuOojvNLMApVdEtIU1NKenEzNzZOSWNaanFqSUVxLWc&gid=12 This might be useful for you guys.
Good to see VS aren't spamming vehicles on just my server, any combat with them is boring as hell because its just 150 tank and scythes vs like 20 infantry
Hot damn. The official PS2 forums are exploding with threads that NC guns are UP due to excessive recoil making you miss perfectly alligned shots. Anyone else agree with this, or is it a vocal minority spinning the whine-wheel for this week before moving on?

It's a good tradeoff, they just need to fire in bursts.

if you were contemplating getting the foregrip to help with the recoil don't bother but i only noticed the tiniest difference, i'd spend the 100 certs on something else
also, how long would it take for the sunderer ams upgrade to really pay for itself? placing it somewhere now 900 meters from a major battle would hopefully get me loads of spawn. is it worth it though?
It depends really. While it is true, that Sneaky HAs will try to take your sunderer down, but you don't have to place it in the most obvious area. Hide it behind some rocks, during a major assault on a biolab for example. In most cases the enemies won't get near it because the place is filled with a lot of troops from your side. In that case the "+3 XP (sunderer Spawn)" message will never stop to show up. + You have an actual chance in taking the lab, because your guys can insta-respawn near it.

Eh, the nighthawk is on sale, which is the shotgun I was planning on buying, but it's unavailable for some reason?
I find it amazing that gunners in sunderers will legitimately shoot tanks that weren't looking at them, and then suddenly we're fucked.
Something that gets me is when a vehicle's owner gets pissy you shot at something that did notice you. I've been bitched at for shooting at ESFs while in a Gal because the pilot "didn't want to attract attention", despite the fact that the ESFs were already firing on us. Same with a Sundy on the move because we had a half-dead Prowler behind us and all the HA's were bailing to rocket it. The funniest one was seeing an enemy Sundy with a rear grenade launcher kick a dude who fired at me in a Lightning. No idea if it'd actually mean anything because he didn't hit me, but at least he could have if the owner wasn't a moron.
c4 is a must for light assault and a waste of certs on everything else
I dunno, I've been right next to tanks as HA and wished I had it. LA definitely gets the most use out of it, but I've seen people using it well for anti-infantry stuff as other classes.
-snip, figured it out-
Unless the basic guns you have, have the least amount of recoil, they seem fine considering how much faster I seem to kill people compared to how much damage they do to me. Took me like 2 minutes to realize "Oh maybe I should aim at their chest because the Y axis recoil is pretty huge
Actually. The devs themselves said in the Livestream yesterday that the NC guns are subpar to the other factions. This is supported by the data mining they've done as well. The problem lies with both the lower rate of fire (acceptable trade-off for higer damage) and unfair recoil at longer range (unacceptable trade-off when already combined with lower RoF). This means that even though you may have aimed properly and didn't go Full Auto Retard, the excessive recoil would still make you automatically miss a few shots that isn't off-set by the higher damage of the bullets that hit. At least the developers acknowledged it themselves, so hopefully a blanket buff against the recoil will make NC on par with the rest of the factions on longer ranged firefights. I'm fine with the lower rate of fire, but combined with the bad recoil it just feels bad when compared to TR or Vanu weapons.

Anyone else agree with this, or is it a vocal minority spinning the whine-wheel for this week before moving on?
I think its justified. I use the alpha squad NC LMG with a 3.4x scope and at medium-long ranges, if I aim for the waist, I can get 3 shots to hit before the recoil takes over. 2-3 of the 3-shot bursts kills.
