Witchcraft I say.
Nothing is impossible when you are loyal to the Terran Republic.
Overclocked my CPU from 3.1 to 3.45 Ghz, let's see if I'll get a performance boost.
There can be only one! *nc*
Overclocked my CPU from 3.1 to 3.45 Ghz, let's see if I'll get a performance boost.
I didn't really notice much difference from 3.3ghz to 4.5.
Probably because the main stress is on the GPU rather than CPU
Probably because the main stress is on the GPU rather than CPU
I thought this game was heavy on the CPU?
Well yeah heavy on both but I would think more on the GPU, he probably doesn't notice much difference because he can already run it fine on his CPU
I didn't really notice much difference from 3.3ghz to 4.5.
I feel like I'm getting a tiny FPS boost. I usually drop down to 20 during fights. Now It hovers around 25-30. But damn now my CPU is at 72 C. I guess that's fine.
At least this looks a lot more terrifying now
Put butter on it, it's 100% guaranteed to cool it down, fetish-action guaranteed or your cpu back
Might as well put some meat on it, then it wouldn't be completely bad if it were to break, you'll just get a bit colder steak.
Isn't there a video where someone cooked meat on a cpu/gpu or something
The ingame FPS indicator. What does the [GPU] / [CPU] mean? What's limiting the FPS?
It shows which part (graphics card or CPU) is bottlenecking your FPS. As stated by one of the devs, it should show GPU when you're out of high traffic areas and CPU when you're actively fighting (multiplayer FPS's draw from CPU more than GPU these days). I have a link for all of you experiencing serious performance issues: http://wpplatoon.com.au/index.php?threads/how-to-boost-your-fps-in-planetside-2.1886/ It basically explains how to find out if it is your GPU or CPU bottlenecking normal gameplay and how to help either problem. My suggestion to add to this: go into Planetside 2's root folder (Steam\steamapps\common\Planetside 2 if you used steam) and open UserOptions.ini. Change ShadowQuality to 0, lower RenderDistance to 500-1500, and you're on a good start. Doing these steps gave me about 15 FPS (I was at a constant 15-20, now I get over 30 usually).
New favourite thing to do is pilot a liberator. Works so nicely with my joystick. So far just had people give me a markers and go there. So far only capping small bases but going to the big fights sounds fun too. I'm not sure on what to upgrade though first. Weapons? Some form of defense? All my CERT has gone into medic/engineer healing/repairing so far. I have 500SC sitting about I have no idea what to do with either. I'm on Cobalt supporting the glorious Terran Republic if anyone wants to man the gun seats some time.
If you guys are wondering about a computer that's good enough to max this game currently without being uber top of the line, mine pretty much fits the bill 2500k i5 3.0ghz 560Ti 8GB RAM Decent hard-drive Win7 64bit I max out the game with zero FPS problems at all. I'm guessing my computer was one of the things they tested and actually optimized for early on, which is why it runs so good without me needing a high end i7 or something. Meanwhile other people's PC's who are pretty close to mine but maybe using i7s or AMD equivalents will get crappy performance. It really has more to do with what they've actually got optimized for what processors/etc and less to do with raw power. If you are running a decent processor that simply was never tested on or touched optmization wise by the devs then you're likely to run the game not ideally. The good news is that they are keen on making it so every chip/hardware/HDD combonation runs good and at their max potential in the next two months, so instead of upgrading I suggest just holding back some and waiting for more and more hardware combonations to get better optimized to run the game at that hardware's max potential.
Meh, at least they're working on it. In a month or two the game will probably run decent on any machine, may not be ultra settings though. I still can't see shit.

Fly high to stay out of effective range of AA, because this thing is basically like a sniper. Tank busters are amazing, but keep in mind your role as a lib pilot is to provide good bombing for your gunner. Using tank busters as such is really nice but situational. The good news is, tank busters completely destroy gals/otherlibs on contact, so you could still have your gunner bomb ground targets while you go after an incoming gal with your tank buster. 500sc doesn't get you the good stuff unfortunatly. I'm assuming you are on membership in which case wait till next month so you have 1000sc. It makes me wish that you could split transactions between using SC and certs, so I could buy 500sc twoards a dalton and pay the rest with 200-300 certs or so. Right now I'm only planning on using my 500sc for a week long XP booster, nothing else to really spend it on (no good cosmetics for vanu yet, nothing I want to buy outright costs 500sc, etc). I do plan on getting $10 worth of SC when they do their triple SC promotion next month tho, so that'll get 3000sc, more than enough to buy a couple of guns I want plus have some left over for (hopefully) good cosmetics.
when they do their triple SC promotion next month.
Where did you read about this? I'm not on premium but I'm willing to throw some cash at the game though.

A overclocked i5 is the way to go for gaming. Also, most people who have been having FPS issues on high-end rigs probably need to update their drivers. Especially the people on SLI.
Wow, 30fps in battle is certainly not "runs fine". I'd figure 45 is minimum what you should get to play smoothly. Even stable 30 is not better than fluctuations between 30-45, imo. I guess most people get 30 fps. I have GTX460 with i7 950 stock and it runs 30-35 fps as well in battle. Bottleneck'ed by GPU obviously.
As I haven't really had a decent gaming rig until last year I'm used to terrible frame rates, to the point that 30 FPS is completely fine for me.

When I had a i7 920, going from 2.66ghz to 3.6ghz was a night and day difference on some games.
I was in my glorious and loyal Prowler death machine, when a xeno Flash zipped past me. He parked it against some rocks and ran away, probably afraid of eating traditional 120 mm HEAT shells. But I didn't shoot him. Instead I crushed his Flash into dust against the rocks. This xeno scum looked at me and couldn't do nothing. I pointed my proud dual gun barrels towards him and moved it to the left and right. In TR that means "No", because we say no to race traitors. I then left him in the middle of nowhere. Where's your technology now, VANU SCUM??

And other various organs I have left out of the list.
If anyone hasn't seen this, this is some nice news to people having a hard time running it. http://forums.station.sony.com/ps2/index.php?threads/quick-note-on-optimization.49152/
I want to make this crystal clear. We aren't done optimizing. We have tons of optimizations in the works, and a team of guys working on them. We meet about them every day, sometimes multiple times a day. We review what you're saying. As long as the frame rate is low, none of us are going to rest easy. I personally have a system that I play on that is only getting 25fps in fights, and I refuse to upgrade the hardware... so this effects MY personal K/D ratio. So any rumor that we don't care about a particular type of hardware, or aren't optimizing... squish it. There is no conspiracy, and no rest. We simply have a lot of work to do. If you hear someone saying it's easy, have them show you their game with hundreds of people and dozens of vehicles within a single 100 meter firefight. I'd happily accept their advice. *grin* Tell them to ask someone who was in the original tech test how frame rate has advanced since then. That was a few months ago. If frame rates are just too low, check back later. We'll still be kickin and frame rate will be higher. For the rest of you, thanks as always for your patience and Keep the Faith.
There's more about that huge carrier thing [t]http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2012/334/2/d/2d73db6452121bb8e793ea3cf8e3623f-d5mojvr.jpg[/t] it flies
Where did you read about this? I'm not on premium but I'm willing to throw some cash at the game though.
They always have traditionally done one during xmas season, last year it was on the 19th or so.
In my gun, my armour, my liver, spine, brain and heart. And other various organs I have left out of the list.
That's some pretty flashy tech you've got, Vanu. Pity it doesn't do shit when I shoot you with my cheap, low-tech bullets.

Hmmm? Potential to blow that up and have the whole thing crash down and blow up in one giant explosion!? Oh man, that would be sweet.
