Planetside 2 Thread v2 - Beta floodgates open GOOD LUCK EVERYBODY

I kind of wish there was a bayonet attachment that replaces your melee attack with one that doesn't completely disable the use of your weapon for a couple of seconds. I think it'd be pretty useful.
I wish I could spend more time on the game, but I only have the weekends to play games online sadly. :(
"Speed is armor". Air doesn't need to hide because it can retreat freely, infantry and armor can't. Their inability to take cover is meaningless because their cover is literally every area that is not where they're being shot. If turrets being worth a damn means air can't charge into areas full of them, well, that's sort of the entire fucking point of a turret. Infantry can't freely charge a MANA turret either, nor can tanks just run at a Phalanx.
Except the battlefield is vastly different for air compared to tanks and infantry. We have the entire sky to avoid in, where cover is lacking. Infantry and tanks can take cover and slowly advance while firing on the phalanx tank. If you make it so that an air turret can wipe the floor as well as a phalanx or MANA turret can we'd be completely unable to be a viable option.
Personally I think AA needs to be effective in short to medium range as in 100-200 meters, at that range it should be dropping your health fast enough to make you need to bug out ASAP with you maybe getting one or two rocket volleys off, anything past that up to 500 and it can be something you need to worry about but not a get the fuck out or you're dead, past 500 you shouldn't have to fear it at all.

You'd be a viable option after you got out of the ESF and did some dirty work on the ground, similar to how those tanks aren't going anywhere until infantry swamps the Phalanxes and get the base shields down. You're not special. You should have a hard counter that requires getting your hands dirty to circumvent.

Fuck that, I hate playing on the ground, there are people who sit in tanks all day why can't I sit in my ESF all day? Tanks also do not have a true hard counter short of hitting them in the rear. It takes what, 4 rockets from infantry to take one out as long as its not in the rear? A main battle tank can easily take out a phalanx turret by himself. I'm not saying we deserve free reign over a base but we should still be able to provide support as long as we bug out as soon as possible.
Protip for pilots of TR and NC.
Don't fly towards a Magrider with a Saron equipped.
Sincerely
A VS player who defended a territory almost by himself as the passenger in a Magrider.
Good lord I haven't touched LA much but I just now realized how amazing the jetpack is.
Just hiding on rooftops shooting people in the back gets you a shit ton of kills. Tons of fun as well.
I once accidentally fell out of an aircraft (Hit E instead of T because I'm stupid) and was falling, I was so lucky to realize I was play LA and that I had a Jetpack. I always forget it exists.
am i the only one that actually likes the VS guns more than the TR ones? I don't know if they do more damage or what, but they sound cool as shit and i enjoy using them a lot more. I feel like i can get more kills with them too

I've accidentally hit E with my fat fingers instead of T and realized my mistake, luckily was able to smash E a bunch and hopped back in. got blown up like a minute later but i felt like james bond
Now that I think about it, I've never been in a situation where a gunship has been used like it has against me. Most of the time I see one, they're extremely high in the sky and raining down huge explosive hell onto us, but when I get in one, every pilot ever is lower to the ground and had dinky guns that fire bullets about as effective as bananas at us.
okay so i'm trying to log in and it keeps saying i have to change my password
what the fuck is going on
it says the same thing for the forums

There are some great spots in Biolabs to hide in and just rack up kills until you run out of ammo.
You need to see more Mosquito's then. That looks nothing like one.
That's a Reaver.
From a vanu perspective, they both look the same. They more or less have the same silhouette from a distance.
Thankfully I just blow them both up because our Scythe looks completely different.
I really need a better mousemat or a better mouse, I can't fly with the book that im using as a mouse mat slipping around all over the place. Guess I'll have to stick to the ground for now.
This game always crashes around 30 mins-1 hour every time I play it. What gives?

The difference being the morons who sit in their MBT all day regularly earn no certs because they're sitting on the wrong side of a force field being lazy assholes. I'm all for allowing pilots to be lazy assholes, but you can go be a lazy asshole that earns no certs then.

I always play LA just because moving across the terrain is a huge pain in the ass as anything else.
It really spoils you once you can just jetpack over those tiny hills you THOUGHT you could run up.

Are other games doing fine?
I had constant crashing once and it turned out to be a faulty RAM.
Else you should probably check if it's some bad drivers causing it, or perhaps just a bad installation.
If you guys are wondering about a computer that's good enough to max this game currently without being uber top of the line, mine pretty much fits the bill
2500k i5 3.0ghz
560Ti
8GB RAM
Decent hard-drive
Win7 64bit
I max out the game with zero FPS problems at all. I'm guessing my computer was one of the things they tested and actually optimized for early on, which is why it runs so good without me needing a high end i7 or something.
I have an i7 920 at 4.0, gtx 580, 12gb ddr3, 64 bit and get worthless performance (often 30 fps average). its more than just people having slightly better stuff getting the same.
My sunderer and all 6 of it's passengers just got blown up because we drove over a piece of smoldering debris from a dead Flash.
Thanks SOE
i was in my magrider and was turning, the front edge got caught on a wall but i still tried to turn and just instantly blew up. apparently the magrider is so powerful that just by turning towards a wall it can tear itself apart
i5-3570k
EVGA GTX 670
8gb DDR3 RAM
Windows 7 64bit
runs on max with no FPS drops whatsoever
it really is just luck of the draw if your setup will run the game well or not
the i5 seems to be a recurring thing though
Took a nice screenshot on my Amerish sightseeing tour while my squad got shot to hell at a tech plant. I'm such a credit to team.

Oh boy we can finally get out of the beta thread.
It says something about the optimisation of the game where you switch it to high and it runs the same as it does on low.

Try winning a dogfight only to fly into the smoldering remains if your victim's aircraft. It's like a giant, "FUCK YOU FOR KILLING ME!"
