GTX285 1gb, not exactly old. It doesn't kill my FPS at all either, it's at a constant 100+ fps in almost every area.
at least, i couldn't until i upgraded from my 8800
try turning vsync on so your FPS is limited a bit, i know shit all about graphics but if it's being limited to 60 surely it's having to do less work for same view

How do you know if you got into the beta or not?
On my battlenet I have 2 WOTLK icons, one says PTR.
You don't "get" into the Beta yet. Currently it's only friends and family of Blizzard.
When you do get in the beta, you get a Cataclysm (PTR/Beta) account added to your Battle.net account management.
