I don't have either of those problems. Incidentally, are you using an Nvidia GPU? Seems like most everyone I've heard of having the Breen issue is using Nvidia.

Maps do look brighter. Edit: Someone asked for a comparison I do have some higher res skins though so it is a little off, also there is a bug on Breen screen in the update. I wouldnt be surprised if there are a lot of people who cant run it well now, especially if they have a low to mid range Dx9 card or lower. Oh man, the game looks so GOOD now. The Very High texture setting really helps things look better, and don't even get me started on the HDR.

The flashlight still shares battery with sprint/O2, sadly. (and due to me typing it like this, there will be a cellphone ad at the bottom soon)
Besides the extra flashlight effects obviously, i'm really not seeing much of a change. I guess the real added effects of the Orange Box engine have to be inserted into the maps, like the aforementioned HDR on this page. I won't be surprised if people add that stuff in quicktime 'fix' mods shortly, however.
Anyone else notice that Breen doesn't stand up anymore when you teleport into his office in the beginning?
As far as the flashlight goes, is there anyway to improve performance without sacrificing the shadows completely? Because the flashlight totally halves my framerate, and that is no good.

Its funny because all of these bugs were nonexistent in the mod version.
