I don't have the flashlight bug, it still has the icon it used for episode 2. Oh well
They really need to recompile the maps though, seriously
They could increase the lightmap scale here and there, and add HDR
As if Half-Life: Source isn't ugly enough..
That would be funny if they did it, it would completely wipe out Black Mesa : Source :D

After 6 years, I guess Breen can't be surprised anymore :v:
I know I'm late to the party, but I thought this was cool. When I downloaded the update, my download peak was at 2.1 MB/s, with an average speed of 1 MB/s. Funnily enough, I have Comcast for internet service.
Plus, here's proof.

achievements made me do things what i wasnt arsed about before, like crossing the sand field without stepping on sand.
As if my respect for Valve couldn't get any lower, They pull a George Lucas and force everyone to accept their "Special Edition" version. The game looks much worse now. The weapons look like they got drenched in water, Alyx looks like a reject from Fakefactory's Mod, The walls have a ugly grain overlay sloppily applied, (again like Fakefactory. Did Valve hire him for this update?) And some maps look far too bright/dark in some areas. Did i mention the stupid achievements that only serve to promote a further dumbing-down of what was once a great medium?
Valve is proving themselves to be worse then Activision and Ubisoft. When i buy a game, i expect it to remain in the exact same state as i installed it without being corrupted by user-content or patches or "official updates". I feel sorry for anyone who actually paid money for this game. Valve better issue full 60$ refunds to properly compensate this grievous injury to gaming and gamers.

uh what
that update was fucking awesome, if you dont like the new graphical settings then turn HDR, motion blur etc off. Yes it is in ep2 engine but that means dynamic shadows, better vortigaunts and better shader effects.
Achievements are great, yes they are not the primary focus but its nice to get them and hell you might replay the game to get some achievements you missed.
So in your theory games do not need to be updated to add extra content, patches etc. Also valve does not price their games 60$
uh what
I think he's just trolling. If he's not, then he should be happy these updates are free, and that they'll be working to fix any bugs and issues the players find. I mean, yeah, it's buggier than it used to be, but Valve works on this stuff pretty tightly.
Also, don't ever compare Valve to Activision, EVER. Fucking hell, no one is as bad as that.

So basically, you are saying that if a game had a gamebreaking bug, you wouldn't want the developers to fix it?
God, I hope you don't ever become a game developer.

Alyx then, Alyx now, Alyx from FakeFactory.
Seriously, who shat in your cereal?
Looks like they took Alyx's improved model from Episode 2 and just stuck it on the original Half-Life 2 animations - hard to notice the difference, but it's there.
How did you host, did you use the normal sv_lan + heartbeat console commands? If not, tell me how, or PM me how.
Agreed. How'd you do that? I've done that before in Portal, but when I tried it in HL2, it crashed.
Also, I thought the "This totally beats synergy" was kinda funny.
I am stuck in Kleineir's lab before Anticitizen One chapter. Alyx won't open the door for me and nothing is happening. Am I only one?
EDIT: Judging from SPUF posts it's a bug. Dammit Valve.

The citadel's explosion still looks horrible though.
Goddamn these flashlight shadows - they are so grainy!

ATi card?
Goddamn these flashlight shadows - they are so grainy!
If I remember they used to not be with ATI then Valve patched it cause Nvidia users said baaaaaawww.
What is it with everyone saying there is no HDR, the maps are a hell of a lot brighter and glowy.
I used to have an NVidia Card and this happened until I updated my drivers.
Then it happened on my ATI Card and I was like what the fuck until one day it magically stopped.
The citadel's explosion still looks horrible though.
I'd like to know why the decided against using the original Models disintegrating. That effect actually looks cool.
0 problems with my ati 4870
Can't wait for them to fix skybox stretching.
Ah. That's what it is.
Also, Alyx looks much better than before. The Ep.2 model does look better.
The Half Life Logo on the train in the first level is no longer there.
I've been waiting for them to put those achievements in hl2 and ep1 for ages, they've been there since the achievement unlocker first came out.
They've used the new, slightly oily and slimy vort textures too.
I likes me dem vorts. :D
awesome!
