Because it makes them less likely to CC you, which you WANT.

I don't like FoN because I already had MR from the Abyssal scepter (don't yell at me for getting it, I got it because I wanted to make fidd/ken do more damage and because I needed damage myself if I wanted to carry). the HP regen would have been worthless because they didn't really poke that much, and 76 MR no HP would have done much less than 50 Mr 375 HP and a shield.

Only a total dumb shit team would CC the tank in the first place if you have veil it won't make it any different. And I was SHEN. I have a taunt anyway, i'm going to take hits no matter what.

I was going to defend abyssal then I saw you were shen. Face palm.
BV is great because SPELL BLOCK. It stops ashe ulti, amumu ulti, nunu ulti, lots of bad things.
Also random stuns if you're caught without your team.
Why is abyssal bad on shen? I already defended it. I needed to get some auras to convince fiddles/kennen to stick with me, because they went off alone too much.
