Theory crafting despair a bit:
Magic Damage: 24 .
Health Drain: 2.7 % (+0.005% per ability power).
With 300 AP 4.2% HP drain
If they have 3k that's:
126 + 24 = 150 magic damage per second.
2k HP
84 + 24 = 108 magic damage per second.
Get void staff if you're going to carry. MR really hurts amumu. @100 MR they take ~62% reduced damage. That's a LOT considering you rely on small damage over time. But with 70% pen that's ~30% reduced damage.
If you're a tank get abyssal no exception.
Abyssal isn't that good on shen because his AP scaling is weak. It's better on Nunu or even Maokai. Fiddles doesn't really need that, he just needs to not die.

Your progression is R->E->W->Q
Build tank items. Start with Q at level 1. (You level E to get your taunt duration so you can gank better)
Gank and help your carries / bursters get fed.
You can jungle, solo lane, lane bottom, even carry the game.
I have no idea how to carry as shen.
Always remember to farm up though (it's easy to get last hits with Ki strike, but learn how to last hit without it and use taunt, vorpal blade, auto attack to harass. It's a very strong combo.
Aegis is a bitchin' item for most tanks...
I swear to god magma chamber is a 6v6 map. Look at how fucking huge it is...
