Xbox 360
Pros: Less expensive, Xbox live is superior in many ways
Cons: Costs for internet, RRoD, controllers bulkier,
PS3
Pros: Blu-tooth, free internet, WiFi, controller is easier to control, blu-ray, backwards compatiblity (For some models), slightly better graphics (Not by far but slightly),
Cons: Less of a community, more expensive,
I'm not going to add exclusives personally, because it's all opinion. Yes I do feel Uncharted, killzone 2, and MGS4 beat halo and gears of war, but it's just my opinion.
I'd also like to add that myself and two other friends have both consoles, and we all prefer the ps3 over the xbox. Not that this matters much, though it should show you that i'm sorta unbiased.
You can't really say that the controllers being bulkier are a con, many people prefer bulky.
You can't really say having bulky controllers is a pro. Lots of people prefer less bulky controllers
well I prefer the xbox controller if it settles the argument in this case...
Yeah, I was just making a point that it's a matter of opinion.
ODST was really good. And I recently rented Gears 2, Gears 2 > Gears.
I thought ODST was terrible. Well for the price tag. It had 4 hours of gameplay. That was just boring. But that is what i think.
I didn't have any of the Halo 3 maps so it was a good value for me.
the irish thingy is .ie, and we use .co.uk for amazon... it's just the game is probably a bit dead due to the fact that it can't be found on the shelves anymore...
Why get gears of war?
It sucks.
So I heard your opinion was fact.
op is dead set on defending 360 and cries when someone disagrees on his view about it
why even ask when you're a 360 fanboy already
360. More games. Also, the game servers are run by M$, instead of devs themselves, so a shut down server is never a problem.
If you find small kids with mics annoying, go for a ps3, if you want a bunch of small kids with a mic, go for the 360.

well firstly, i'm not a fanboy, i prefer the pc more than anything else, it's just ALOT of my friends have either, and there is no way i can afford both... both ps3 and xbox have good contrasting features...
I want to know what facepunch thinks...

The 360 has 191 exclusives, the PS3 has 155, based on what wiki says.
And yet, I see a very small amount of games actually worth playing, unlike the PS3 exclusives list, which will destroy my wallet soon.
NOTE THIS IS MY OPINION
Voted 360. I just prefer the controller, it feels more weighty than the PS3, which feels like....nothingness.
I hope you didn't choose 360 just because of the controller. Because if so, I hate you. Both the controllers are great, make the decision based on what you can use them for, like GAMES.
Oh no not another of these threads... But i think i should contribute. Let us take a look at the following points that are important to most of us. The internet is obviously much better in ps3 than in 360 for alone it not being limited to the playstation store and the stores are rather similar in bouth platforms if you think about it. One point to ps3! Then lets take a look at other small costs as well, while you have to pay for products such as dlc's ( obviously) in bouth systems playing multiplayer is free with ps3 unlike in 360. One point for ps3! Then to the controller while there really isn't a big difference beween the sixaxis controller and the threesixty counterpart i still like the desing of
360 conroller more but then again it sucks batteries worthy of 40€ a year and it has a wire i have to stay with ps3's conroller, sure you can buy battery recharger and a wireless controller for the 360 it's not included with the console. One point for ps3! Then to the pressin' matter GAMES while bouth consoles have good games i have to go for ps3 just for mgs4 whitch is the best game ever made for newer generation of consoles there are some other good ones too like drakes fortune etcetera... ( they have all been mentioned on the posts above) then again 360 has titles like halo and..... I don't really know gow 2? But i haven't touched my xbox for over a year i really don't know. One point for ps3! Then again playstation 3 has ability to run dual layered plu-ray discs unlike 360.... One point for ps3! The playstation isn't as cheap as 360 the point goes for ??? One poop for 360! Quilty as charged i like ps3 much more than my rusty ol' 360. Final score is ps3 four points xbox 360 one point.
This has to be my longest post i have wrote. Enjoy the spelling errors!
I'd just personally get which one you think is the best. Which one has more games that you enjoy playing, and then money to blow.
PS3:
pros:
-lots of exclusives
-free online
-blu-ray player
cons:
-no reverse compatibility on the slim
Xbox 360:
pros:
-some exclusives
-it's from microsoft
-lots of social stuff
cons:
-have to pay for live
-controllers are a bit bulky
I would personally go with the PS3.
People say Xbox Live is superior, but I don't see how. I've owned both an Xbox 360 and PS3. My experiences were the same, if not better with Sony.
Sony has servers that actually work. I remember 10% of the time Xbox Live would have servers that would be down for a few hours. This was because of holidays, but there is no excuse for a billion dollar corporation to not be prepared.
I say get the PS3. You will get more out of it in the end.
If your not going to mod your console definitely get the PS3, i have a modded xbox myself for the obvious reasons, but if i were to buy all my games i would definitely go for PS3 for free online and some exclusives.

Being from Microsoft isn't a pro.
What do you want out of a console?
Better game selection = 360
Better hardware=PS3

yep.

1) You are an absolute idiot for basing your decision on a console just because you can pirate
2)Enjoy your console ban whenever MS can find ways to catch all mods properly (unless you aren't on LIVE)
How I see it is;
With the 360 you will get a more refined and more stable online, with a larger community and updates/ news more often. But you also have a very limited amount of exclusives that are any good (in my opinion Halo has been terrible since Halo:CE). You also have a smaller amount of devs supporting your console continuously. Most of which are Western dev as Eastern devs are having trouble pushing games on the 360.
With the PS3 your online experience is mostly affected by your Internet connection, even a good one can have bad days though, you get a slightly smaller community as not everyone will have mics, but you get a lot more exclusives that are worthwhile. The PS3 also has continuing support from a literal asston of first party devs Sony have owned since the PS1, and a lot of eastern developers, giving you more flexibility in game genres.
In the long run the 360 ends up being so much more expensive that a PS3 though. if you keep both for 5 years, buying about 15 games for example it adds up as;
360: Premium console - £170 + Live Gold * 5 -£200 + Play & charge - £20 + Games (£35) * 15 - ~£525 = New Headset (They break easily) - £15 - £50 = ~£930 - ~£965
PS3: Slim console - £260 + blue-tooth/ Wired headset - £30 + games (£40) * 15 - ~£600 = ~£890
These aren't exact prices, but as time goes on the 360 costs much more than the PS3. And Ps3 games are just that little bit more expensive usually (blu-ray does that).
Well if you already have a decent computer you don't need either. Get a 360 because PS3 will never fill the boots of the PS2.
I didn't buy the Xbox for modding, my dad was just in a spending mood and got that, and no i don't play on live. Either way the xbox has alot of games that are not worth the money IMO, while the ps3 has some things i would definitely buy/rent.
Why the fuck do people have to create these console war threads.

Ah, fair enough, if you'd bought it just to mod it, then you do have slight problems, as XBox mods aren't that great, not like Homebrew on the Wii is :v:
With the help of the Facepunch pole you should now see that the choice is clear...

77 for PS3 now :D
You get more with the ps3 without buying expensive extras
Get a 360 for cheapness if you don't need those extras
