How many levels can you go up in the demo!
I am currently on level 7!
Level 15.
[editline]05:43PM[/editline]
Oh, and your levels won't carry over to the full game, unfortunately.
What items will you end up having by the end of the demo? So far I have the Ion Cannon and the Armor.

I'm pretty sure you'll pick up the Plasma Launcher.
Which happens to my favorite weapon. It's basically a grenade launcher. That causes massive damage.
Meh, not worth a buy, demo was moderatly enjoyable.
I friggin' loved the demo of this game last thread but could never get around to getting it and forgot about it
Maybe I will once I feel I hit any limitations with the demo which I haven't so far

More maps in full version, and you'll hit the demo level cap of 15 fairly soon.
Though you still qualify for the competition. Which is something perhaps I should clarify.
If a person knew about this game before hand and thus have a head start, they're just as eligible as everyone else; in fact, it is a perfect guarantee that they will play the full version.
Don't get discouraged, though. Not a lot of people knew about this game.

Except that there was a thread a few weeks back about this game I think
I bought the game today for 7$ and love it, especially the sense of speed and the first person tank cockpits.
The bots anally rape everything though. :gonk:

A month and a few weeks back. Still, practically no one posted there. It was pretty much just me, yelling out how much I loved it. :v:
oh man, looks cool as shit. I might not even play DiRT 2 until christmas just to get a free copy :v:
Sign me up.
The Steam Servers are too busy to handle your request. Please try again later.
no goddamn you I want the demo now :gonk:
yay there it goes :unsmith:
I guess I can give this a try
how are you gonna determine playing hours for people, if it doesn't keep track of demo hours on steam?
unless I'm blind or something and I went right past it in my hours list

It does keep track.
Might be me, but as soon as I quit, I got BSOD'd. I'd love the ability to make maps. but it's whatever.
Is it supposed to crash AFTER I level up and press continue?

That has to be you. Probably some sort of driver or something.
Is it supposed to crash AFTER I level up and press continue?
You're the second one to report this, but I've never heard of it happening before this little giveaway, so I imagine it may be some sort of obscure demo problem.

This is a problem. It definitely counts the hours, and it displays them on some profiles, but not on others. Odd.
well goddamnit I really wanted it :saddowns:

It would appear that the only way to judge demo hours is to have the game be in your top three played games the past two weeks.
Maybe I have to rethink this strategy.
I purchased a copy for my friend for Christmas too. :v:
He noticed I had a new game and was all "I want it too so we can play together" - so we may just revive this game.
On another note, been practicing offline, got to level 21 with a fair selection of the weapons - and Hyperspace is my favourite powerup :P
Not decided on my favourite weapon yet.
As for the contest, I'm sure you'll manage to work out who's most interested in the game. Though you may have to jump on the Metal Drift demo server with them.

Hyperspace, bah. Autorepair is where it's at! Seriously, with the Plasma Launcher, I can continually regenerate health.

Idea for selecting winners: Highest level in demo? (15 would be an auto-win, I guess. If there were more than 5 15s... I 'unno.)
In retrospect, that's a terrible idea. But I really need a way to choose winners. GIVE ME IDEASSSSS
Moar like football, or soccer for all you Americans.
Wouldn't x-fire keep track of how many hours you've played? It's free anyway.
Wouldn't x-fire keep track of how many hours you've played? It's free anyway.
It would if X-Fire had support for Metal Drift. But it doesn't. :saddowns:
I'm running out of ideas. Surely someone can think of a good strategy for picking winners?
hell yeah Steam is finally keeping track
guess it had to pass Audiosurf
I also think gameplay time is a good way to win
I wish it still worked for me. I can't even play the demo anymore because it tells me that I need to run steam.
Seriously, it's being launched from steam!:black101:
Oh man, I've been wanting this game ever since I first heard about it in October. Downloading the demo.
Someone wanna tell me why the source is zipped in the game's directory?
Someone wanna tell me why the source is zipped in the game's directory?
:v:
All you got the do is guess the password, which I haven't, nor really care to. There'a raw .dds files and .max files when c++/c script files (you can open the zip use explorer).
What's the top demo play time?
