i've seen a 5950gs dk with 5 spell pen gems, a 5.8k hunter doing less than 5k dps and many other ridiculous things. you can get carried to a high gearscore.

Honestly, I believe that Gear Score is a somewhat helpful tool. It does go way to far, pvp gear is shitty and gets high gs, and that the mod needs tweaking. I feel that gear score is important because of the fact that it tells you where a persons gear level is at. If I was recruiting people into my ICC and they had a 3100 gs I would probably not let them in because its a pretty low gear level, but lets say someone with a 6k gs gets added to the raid and they are wearing shitty pvp gear, I would probably remove him because he is not properly geared for ICC. I feel that gear score is a helpful tool to view your gear level, nothing else. If your gear was really shitty and you wanted into the hardest raid in existence would you expect to get in? I sure as hell wouldn't. Gear score does go way to far in the game, but no matter how much you want it not to matter, it's not going away.
