The Pokedex entries always seemed a bit random

For like the first time ever I started playing Pokemon more seriously and actually paying attention to things like stats, what moves they learn, etc. It's so much more complicated than just using the rule of cool. Never really noticed how surprisingly in depth it is.

To be honest those don't really look like Pokemon, but more like things that someone came up with in like 10 minutes. Yeah the starters are pretty cool kinda, and I'll even admit some of the Pokemon in D/P/Pl were meh, but these just seem like they kinda ran out of animals to exaggerate.

You realize that the goal of the animal-type designs isn't to use completely new animals every time, right?
Is there only one kind of cat, dog, or bull in the world? I don't think so. I don't see how that stops you from enjoying the game.
That's not to say some of the Pokemon are pretty cool, but the ones I've seen (which are quite a few) don't appeal to me as much as the ones in, like, the advanced generation (which is my favorite)

Hm, it appears it is called Gen III in the OP instead. It's also widely known as the Advanced Generation however.
