Got it. My rom had the e with an accent so it must be that the patcher doesn't work for non-english characters?

Luckily, since a lot of the pokemon game's dialog repeats itself this must have been easier to do.

You could also use a Electrode with rain dance and then give some of you're guys thunder instead of thunder bolt. The new electric/bug spider is also a good choice but you can't do that right now.
