Although I'm going to bring this up. The art team were creating a whole new ecosystem with keeping the old Pokemon out until you got far enough in the game. The problem isn't that they can't think of any new ideas. It's that they can't think of any [i]good[/i] new ideas. Ice cream is just stupid. And I mean the thing is, yeah, a lot of the original pokemon are retarded too. But I feel like every new pokemon that's good usually ends up being a rehash of an old pokemon that's good. The gear thing isn't like magnemite because magnemite almost looks like it might make sense as some weird robot thing whereas the gear is like, well, a gear, with googly eyes. They don't [i]need[/i] to make new pokemon. Nobody really gives a shit anymore. It's just a marketing gimmick. They keep coming up with great new features, filling it up with new guys that only look good half the time, add more and more legendaries (Jesus Christ there were 14 new god damn legendaries in D/P), and then everything else is just the same thing. They're definitely good at expanding on their old formulas, but they show no initiative in experimenting with the very core. For instance, I'm getting tired of type based gyms. How about instead they can try gyms based around stats, such as a trainer who specializes in speed or something. At this point it just feels like I'm playing the exact same game over and over just updated. Except I'm supposed to think it's different because this time we drew a new electric mouse for you.

The ice cream is a good idea. They didn't think of it, and you would think that it would be obvious to have an ice pokemon to be an ice cream. But they didn't.
