The base stats for all of them are pretty awful.. smuglord's is useful when you factor in dream world ability and leaf storm... but the others need a baton pass to be really valuable
btw, narwhalrus is the coolest starter

That's what I've been thinking, Smuglord's dreamworld ability Antagonist with Leaf Storm allows it to attack with constant +2 gains to it's sp.atk. To the uneducated that seems like a godly combination (I say that cause I haven't really gone through with the calculations and grass moves being inneffective against certain common types etc).

it does have a very shallow movepool, its only real useful special attacks are leaf storm and hidden power
Even then, you are still looking at a mon that can get stronger quickly while putting the pressure on your opponent.
Plus it's naturally quick.

yah, and defensive too, i've seen people use choice scarf sets, they can be hard to beat unless you have something that 4x resists it or has herbivore
I find it funny how the majority of Smogon has come to the decision of banning Dream World abilities. Just means that someone who would use preset Smogon Pokemon would get trampled on by a legal, superior party consisting of a few Dream World Pokes.

I don't really like any of the starters this generation (not starting a flame war, just saying in my opinion they suck) so which is basically the best one to choose movepool/statwise?
