My copy always crashes on exit. This is no doubt due to the massive amount of mods I have enabled, but I don't really care that it crashes on exit. That's not the main issue. The actual problem exists when I try to change graphics settings, and since the game always crashes on exit, it never applies the settings.
Is there any way I can change texture settings within the ini file? I couldn't find anything on the internet, and I couldn't find any external settings app that I can use, so I just don't know what to do. Is there any way to force high textures from the command line? I know how to change the other settings that won't stick, but it's the texture settings that don't seem to be controlled by the ini.
Edit: Nevermind, I fixed it. I don't know how, but it happened. I didn't change anything, didn't disable any mods, didn't even enable any compatibility modes so that I could fix any potential problems with Windows 7. I suppose it just didn't feel like crashing this time, but it was able to save my settings.

the game is notorious for crashing on exit. there are quite a few fixes for it, but memory fails to provide me with any. I think the UOP fixes it...
Judging from the comments made FCOM makes the game a helluva lot harder and seeing as I just bought the game for PC(Buying it for the Xbox was a really bad decision) should I download it or just play without it?
if you can get it to work and you like MUCH more content and just tons of new features then do it
Now that I play with a working version of FCOM I can't go back to regular... just too much new stuff. The modded contest is literally 2 gigs of space.
Although I do have this weird problem were the game will suddenly drop fps to like 1 for no reason. I then have to reload a save and it works find again. My sound also is having problems. When I talk to people the sound cuts out and I can't hear what anyone is saying. The subtitles go faster too. So I can't even read what they are saying.
I'm installing Deadly Reflex and Unnecessary Violence. Is there any special way to install them to ensure that they don't conflict.
Bah, I installed that Dwemer Spectacles mod and none of the glasses/eyepatches fit my character. :frown:

I couldn't even find those. He said it was in that crazy Bosmer's house in Skingrad but there wasn't anything there.

They're sold by Red Diamond Jewellery last time I checked. Maybe you have a different version.

You get that when there are no voice files for the characters, but I got this bug a few times, and its nothing to do with that. I restarted my game and it was fine.
How can you still be playing this!?!
Go tell Bethesda to stop with that fallout nonsense and make new TES instead!
You know what.
I'm gonna email todd himself.

The weird thing is that when I set audio acceleration to low the voices work, but I get this loud static noise every 15 min or so... then when I put acceleration up at all the voice bug happens but not the static one. So right now I'm stuck with the static because I like to actually be able to talk to people.
Go ask that to the people who are still playing Morrowind.
Nah, that's not a valid question for Morrowind. Morrowind is actually a wonderful game that has enough longevity to last another few years. Oblivion has only survived this long because we don't have much of a choice in the matter.
Okay I'm not a big fan of UV. Would it be as simple as unchecking in Wrye Bash to be able to get it to stop being used? I mean I understand that the animations will stay but I don't want NPCs ducking or kicking anymore. I was also wondering if Deadly Reflex only works on new saves because I haven't seen any of the new effects.

NPCs ducking = Deadly Reflex..
How do I set the Controls for Deadly Reflex. I got this game yesterday for the P.C. by the way.
NPCs ducking = Deadly Reflex..
Is it? Because I can do the exact same dodge move with a control that was set by UV. Another thing is the kick. I've seen the DR kick and it's first person. The kick I have goes into third person. That kick is also activated by a UV button.
I don't use UV so I wouldn't know what that one looks like, but the DR kick definitely puts you into third person last time I checked.

I don't have UV, and I have a dodge ability that makes me duck, and enemies also duck. It is from Deadly Reflex.
And to set your controls for deadly reflex, there is an item in your inventory you gotta click.
Do people still play this? I ordered the GOTY version for PC and I'm wondering if it's worth it.

Why should it matter if other people play it? It isn't multiplayer..
But yes, it is a good game. Even better if you mod the shit out of it.

Though modding the shit out of it also tends to increase the crashing..

I save a lot so it doesn't really matter for me.
Are there any games with self shadows that don't look like ass? I suppose there are, I just only notice the horrifically bad ones, a la Mass Effect.
I think that Oblivion's self shadows depend on your hardware. On my old Geforce 6800 they looked like shit - all jagged and unrealistic. On my Geforce 9600 they look unimaginably sexy. I actually spend most of my time in 3rd person mode admiring the shadows on my character.
It might also be a patch or something. All I know is that it is possible for self shadows to look awesome in Oblivion.

What I meant to say is, I owned the Xbox 360 version twice, and traded them in, twice. The first time I got it for the Xbox 360, I thought I was cool and all, then I got bored and sold it. Then a week later, I realized how much I missed the game and then I bought another used copy. I got about 25% through, then got bored and sold it again. I'm hoping that the PC version have a longer playtime for me. Is it worth it even though I already bought it and sold it twice.
