Has anyone else been playing around with spellmaking?
Flaming Wizard of Death (a.k.a. Human Torch that can't fly):
-Fortify Magicka on Self 100 for 3 seconds.
-Fire Damage 50 on Touch 1 second.
-Weakness to Fire on Touch 100% for 3 seconds
-Weakness to Magicka on Touch 100% for 3 seconds.
-Fire Shield 20% on Self for 3 seconds.
-Frost Shield 20% on Self for 3 seconds.
-Shock Shield 20% on Self for 3 seconds.
-Restore Health on Self 5 points for 1 second.
The cost of the spell should be around 50 magicka. If it is any higher than that then reduce some of the effects. This was done with a Destruction skill of 100, Alteration skill of 100, and a Restoration skill of at least 60 or so.
It's a self-sustaining chain spell that does continuous fire damage while at the same time protecting the user from most types of damage and restoring health that is lost.
As long as you keep the casting it repeatedly as quickly as possible it will allow you to rampage your way through most dungeons relatively unharmed.
Obviously if your casting is interrupted for any more than 3 seconds then you'll be left without protection and with no magicka. Keep in mind that this doesn't work on creatures that are immune to fire damage for obvious reasons.
As a bit of an odd but nice looking side effect, the spell will set you on fire without causing any fire damage to you.

I wish, Every spell I get, "Not enough Magicka"
Although I'm level 20 and focused on mainly Intelligence the whole game :frown:
[Intelligence: 55]
I guess I shouldn't of chosen Imperial as my class.
Just got into the Arcane University and now I'm getting bored. Any quests or missions I should undertake to stop me from losing interest? I'm level 10 now.

I'm stupid. :downs:
Note: This mod leaves the original Imperial Palace intact. Instead of editing it, I created a copy of the Imperial Palace in seperate cells and edited them instead. This was done to prevent messing up the Theives Guild quest and to eliminate potential compatibility issues with other Imperial Palace mods. So, if you're playing the Theives Guild quest, you must visit the original Imperial Palace that can only be accessed through the Old Way. If you're playing the Kagrenac tools quest, then you must visit my copy of the Imperial Palace.
That's the one thing I don't want a mod to do. Interfere with a quest. When it says "It can only be accessed through the Old Way" does that mean I have to deactivate the mod, do the quest, and then reactivate? Or is the "Old Way" a place that lets you get there.
Read the entire quote.
[sp]During The Ultimate Heist, you go to the Old Way passage to retrieve the Elder Scroll.[/sp]
[sp]During the Kagrenac quest, you presumably go through a different passageway into White Gold Tower.[/sp]
It says it created a copy so that it doesn't mess up The Ultimate Heist.
This thread persuaded me to buy Oblivion GOTY. Thanks monk :neckbeard:

If that version is the PS3 version, then be careful around vampires, as on the PS3 GOTY version you are incurable of the disease they give you.

Yeah, after looking around facepunch for good PC games, I went out and got the Game of the Year Edition for 20 bucks at the second closest London Drugs to my house. Best 20 bucks I've ever spent, minus the 20 I spent on shrooms that time I went grad camping and didn't want to drink, so I did shrooms while everyone got hammered.
Fuck, that was awesome.
Ah fuck i had to reinstall oblivion and now my mods are all gone. I'll try to check out Fcom then.
Is there anyway to get the steam overlay working in oblivion? I've added it to the games list and while ingame I can see people logging on and messages I have received but I can't actually open the overlay. Anyone know how to fix that?
Anyone link me to the prostitute mod so I can get out of jail/fines without paying up? (I'm a cheap bastard)
What about a link to those mods?
Just added, glad to help.

Get Sorcery's Toll. It removes all magic level requirements (I.E. cast giant fireballs at level 1 if you have enough Magicka to cast) but gives a chance that, if you can't cast a spell that powerful, you will suffer permanent effects to your health. Currently I have that activated and have gotten the effects Conductivity (Weakness to Shock 100%), Flammability (Weakness to Fire 100%) and Frostbite (which was removed from the old version, because it did 1 frost damage every second, making fast travel and waiting/sleeping nearly impossible.). I got them from casting super-high level spells right after getting out of the sewers and buying them. Like my custom-made Open Very Hard Lock in 300 feet on target, which got me Frostbite and Conductivity. Shit, I got off-topic. Point is, it's a great mod that gives consequences to overpowering yourself.

I use "Oblivion.exe" instead of "OblivionLauncher.exe"
I use obse_launcher and just rename it. Same with Fallout 3.

Any tips on how to destroy the Wraith Ghosts?
Fucking annoying ghosts they are.

Yeah just started doing that and it works.

I think their weakness is silver, so get a silver sword or if you're a bowman, get silver arrows.
I'm downloading Qarls texture pack, but I'm worried my system won't handle it.
If it can't handle it, can I easily turn it off? Or will it like overwrite the original textures or something.
FCOM didn't work either.
When i start it it goes back to destkop.

You installed it wrong.
I can't get into this game as much as I did with Fallout 3. I got out of the dungeon, dicked around a bit, but lost interest.
I will try again after seeing this thread.

You need mods my friend. Check the OP for a good list.
Or for an even better one, http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Recommended_Mods

Make a backup of your textures folder. It might take up a few gigs of space and take some time depending on how big your folder is, but it'd be easily fixed.

I wish this had a Settlers mod like Fallout 3 does.

You should download the redimized pack if your worrying about performance issues. It still looks sexy and doesn't whore FPS.
I pretty much played through all the sidequests (except shivering isles), and the main quest on vanilla oblivion.
Is there a list of mods to download that can make it feel like a new game again?
