wouldn't that mean that gordon would be on the ship and he meets chell?
No, the original disappearance was presumably around the time of HL1.
snip wrong thread
No, the original disappearance was presumably around the time of HL1.
but if gordon was on the ship and it warped into the future where chell found it and he took it back to HL1, would that mean that she would meet him correct?
but if gordon was on the ship and it warped into the future where chell found it and he took it back to HL1, would that mean that she would meet him correct?
Where have you got that idea from? The idea was that the original disappearance of the ship, which was before HL1 (probably) took it to the time of Portal 2, and then chell sends it back to the time of Episode 2.
No, the original disappearance was presumably around the time of HL1.
When was that presumed to at all? We have no clues at all, all we know is that it disappeared one day.
When was that presumed to at all? We have no clues at all, all we know is that it disappeared one day.
Well it must have been before HL1 or around the time, because they were working on a project of some promise, and then it disapeared.
You all realise it probrobly valve throwing us off
You all realise it probrobly valve throwing us off
I really doubt that. They can't go back from Borealis being related to Aperture Science.
Portrait of a lady. Announcer? Women Glados's AI is based off? OR JUST A LADY?
The thought of a human GLaDOS is truly terrifying. It's too bad this game (supposedly) takes place too far in the future for us to encounter such a person in-game, though. Which is fine by me. In my opinion, Portal's atmosphere is a lot better when you are the only human element trapped in a box run by computers.

Imagine they made it so that GLaDOS uploaded her consciousness into an extremely realistic android? (It'd look human)
website is down for me
A human GLaDOS would be very terrifying. Imagine they made it so that GLaDOS uploaded her consciousness into an extremely realistic android? (It'd look human)
I would imagine it would be ten times as awful as that if GLaDOS was actually a person encased in the machine, and the whole thing is like a huge life support, but we know thats not whats going on. Although it is presumed Cave Johnson uploaded his brain into the Aperture Science database.
glados is too spleeny and excentric to be an actual person

The casing falls apart, and out comes a lady, attached to wires all over the place. Long hair, and in a white, tight suit with the Aperture Science logo on her stomach. Flashing red eyes, and some flowing white hair. Everyone'd know she's a woman to be feared! No living creature would survive her wrath, and everyone would know not to ever cross her path. GlaDOS is her name. GlaDOS is her name. GlaYOU, GlaME, GlaDOS GlaDOS is her name. Screw you guys who rated me dumbs, you don't know a classic movie when you see one. :saddowns:

how is glados immune to the neurotoxin if it's not entirely a machine? [editline]3rd March 2011[/editline] well okay, if CJ completely uploaded himself into it, I dig it

I never did understand what the genetic life form part of GLaDOS meant. Maybe it could mean she has a bit of the organic stuff inside. Also, octocentenary celebrations!
I never did understand what the genetic life form part of GLaDOS meant. Maybe it could mean she has a bit of the organic stuff inside. Also, octocentenary celebrations!
I think it means that it realistically recreates the intelligence of a human. (Possibly)
The achievement names like Bridge Over Troubling Water and SaBOtour are pretty good references. Also the companion cube pin is definatly from either an achievement or from pre-orders knowing Valve.
When you kill GLaDOS, notice the insects that come flying out of her as she falls apart.
I thought those were leaves from somewhere.
When you kill GLaDOS, notice the insects that come flying out of her as she falls apart.
Really? I've never seen this before.
you know I'd really, really, REEEEEEEEAAALLY want to look at these but I also don't want to spoil the game. :frown: fuuuuuuuuuuuck. god damn it I looked at them, looks like we're shipping out to the Borealis aren't we?
She proabably uses one of those drives that use genes in the DNA of micro-organisms as Bits. That seems reasonable as, considering she is sentient she must need a lot of memory. I don't get why she'd need a DOS part, though, if she has a GL part.
probably dna as molecular hard drive?
You beat me to it. [editline]4th March 2011[/editline]
When you kill GLaDOS, notice the insects that come flying out of her as she falls apart.
Those were debris particles. Someone brought this up before in the Megathread.
I'm looking forward to playing Portal2 as soon as it gets released.
I'm interested to know who/what the Rat Man is.
"Overclocker" is about completing a test chamber within a certain time. A clock is used to measure time, which is the duration of events. Read more about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time
It's also a reference to overclocking, a method used to force pc components such as cpu to go faster than its reccomended speed.
