My list of pros and cons for each is pretty much all opinion. Like most others are, but I did use some factual stuff too.
PS3 Pros:
Free online
Blu ray
Nice and lightweight interface
The controller feels right to me
Media center out of the box, no stupid configuration or streaming needed
Capable of upscaling DVD to a higher quality
Excellent exclusives
PS3 Cons:
Online is a bit odd every couple of days when it gets flooded
Most multiplatform games run worse thanks to their native format being the 360
Barely any community interaction other than insults through text
The store can be empty at times
360 Pros:
Massive community
Some decent exclusives
Stable online
Fairly easy to fix and find support for obscure errors
Large choice in the store
360 Cons:
I cannot stand the controller
The community is mostly retarded
The interface is horribly bloated
Avatars are a fucking joke
Almost any useful perhiperals need to be bought seperately
Uses a old format for data storage, limiting the possibilities
And one point which really doesn't matter; the adverts are fucking annoying and eye wateringly spammed.
You probably won't agree but that's what I see in the consoles.
This.
Failure Rate: Xbox 360>PS3
PS3: Free online, browser, Blu-ray, Bluetooth adapters, Light rechargeable controllers.
Xbox 360: Heavy ass gigantic controller that needs 2 AA batteries to run.
I think you know which is better.
Success Rate: Xbox 360 > PS3
Xbox 360: Perfectly designed controllers, powerful console, great game selection, huge community.
PS3: Must buy new controller when PS3 controller charge gets bad.
I think you know how fair this kind of comparison is.
If you just name a bunch of things off for one system, and then name one thing you disagree with for the other it doesn't really justify anything.
It's like democrats vs. republicans , Communists vs. capitalists. people who support one console are naturally going to hate the other.

Most xbox people can't stand the playstation controllers. I for one feel comfortable using both. (but do feel like the xbox controller besides the obvious directional button flaw, is the best controller out there)
There's not that many kids on xbox live. Unless you play halo and shit. I must say most people act pretty mature. Or are infact mature..:) (i play with a bunch aged between 20 and 50)
what's wrong with the avatars? they work just like avatars work on forums.
I have yet to see any adverts. Dunno what games they are in though.
BOTH SIDES ARE FULL OF FAGGOTS AND THE SUPERIOR CHOICE IS PC.
/caps
Nope because every household demands a different approach to entertainment.

You understand how invalid yours and his points are as they are both subjective? The 360 controller is utter shit to me, it's too heavy and too bulky.
Oh and when the PS3 controller battery dies, just replace the battery :downs:

I do see what you mean with most of that, they happened to be more opinion than anything those points. But I'll elaborate on the avatars a bit.
They are a joke as they are just another way for MS to get money out of the masses. They are fairly unoriginal, look stupid as hell most times (especially with half the bought clothing), and they really have no function in the system other than to be there. Until games begin to allow your avatar to be used in them (not marketplace games, full retail games that don't revolve around minigames and the likes), then they have no real use other than a way to waste money.
Why does weight matter anyway? I'd say if it feels solid it's good. I've had a ps3 controller charging which fell from my bed by the weight of the cable.
I like using batteries (rechargeable eneloops, low discharge) because if the controller runs empty i can just put new ones in, still use rumble and play wireless .
The two controllers are much alike. the only difference is that the xbox one moved the left stick up to where the directional buttons are on the ps controller. This avoids stick and thumb collisions.
I can see why they did it to avoid collisions, but I have used PS dualshocks since they were released, and old habits die hard, I just don't like the placement. The weight thing annoys me as I just don't like having stuff that heavy in my hands for long periods of time when playing games, though a Dualshock 3 isn't much better, the vibration motors add a fair bit of weight.

I don't see what you mean by stick and thumb collision, I'm quite sure if it can happen on the PS one, it can on the 360 one.

If you noticed I mimicked his post but changed it around to support Xbox... I was not using my post to say one system was better, it was for an example...
Also, with the PS3 controller, to replace the battery you would have to crack it open. It isn't set up to be easily changed by the average user.
Why do people bring this shit back up again? What is the point?
It just makes it worse. Like picking on a really old wound. With pus flowing out of it. And it's green. And someone probably made a video of it and posted it somewhere in the dank depths of the internet. And the guy with it doesn't want to go to the doctor. And then he dies.

Sorry, faulty sarcasm detector, I'll get that fixed.
Considering my first generation Xbox generation just died, I'm considering trying to fix it, and sell all the games+console to get a PS3.
I like the 360 controller. The triggers are great for racing and shooters

What? But other than that I'd have to agree.
[editline]07:26PM[/editline]
Going from a 360 controller to a PS3 controller, it felt like the PS3's was a dainty piece of plastic ready to just break apart if I used any force. After a couple of days on the PS3, the 360 controller seemed like some massive thing I couldn't get my hands around. One thing I like about the 360 is the placement of the thumbsticks; with the PS3 controller my thumbs were always colliding.
PC Pros:
Mouse Control
Keyboard Control
Better Graphics
Better speeds
No extra fees for internet
Easier to use
PC Cons:
None.

tru.dat
I prefer xbox for a few simple reasons. All of which are relative: I know dozens of people with an xbox (only 1 person with a ps3), I enjoy the live features (netflix, lost.fm, etc.), I love the feel of the controller, and many other small mostly, inconsequential things.
I also don't get all the complaining about RRoD. Sure, its a little annoying... but Microsoft fixed them all absolutely free. They even extended the warranty so people could get it fixed.

Success rate of a 360 is under a little over 50% ( About 53%), PS3 has a 90% chance that it will work to its full potential. And clearly, you have never touched a PS3 if you say the controller is better on XBOX, those analog sticks are about a mile away from each other... You are a Fanboy
I respect your opinion. But Last.fm, facebook, and Twitter are just horrible on the xbox.
PC wins, everyone shut the fuck up.

I was using an extreme to show him how his view was wrong.
Way to read.
You are a Fanboy
I like both.
[editline]10:11PM[/editline]
Each has it's upsides and downsides.
The 360 simply has no games I want that I can't get on the PC, while the PS3 has games I want that aren't on the PC, so I'm getting a PS3.
That and really just don't feel like paying for online.
People, PEOPLE!
Please, if any non-FPer would come along, Facepunch would look like what it is (Lots of simple-minded people/kids who can't agree on anything and a few Einsteins who do what they do and then get flamed).
Now let's look at them bickerables...
PS3:
*Has better hardware
*Has good games
*In it's own way, has a good controller
*Free online things
X360
*Has less powerful hardware
*Has good games
*In it's own way, has a good controller
*XBL Gold
And s-
***SURPRISE ATTACK****
PC
*Has as good hardware as you can buy
*Has loads of good games
***Games are moddable
*Can use both, X360 and PS3 controllers.
*The fat cat can actually sit on it without breaking it
*Free interwebz!!!11
As you can see, if you enjoy sitting on a couch with a controller, you should get a Console.
If you like -
