Is Rush Hour still available anywhere?
I know both sc4 and rush hour together are on steam, other than that I'm not sure if you can find it by itself anywhere.
I just read this thread while formatting my portable hard drive and I got all nostalgic over the original Sim City, I played it round my cousins house, build small cities and name them after people we didn't like and then, summon GODZILLA!
I've decided to buy this now also, I wonder if there's a mod that'll allow me to build a 40k Hive.
I was obsessed with Simcity 2000 for such a long time.
That game is the absolute shit. I wish Arcologies were in the later games.
How do I install SC3000 on W7?
Run the installer in Compatibility Mode
Internal dialogue box error.
:S
Well then you my friend, are fucked
Bough SC4 on Steam. Problem solved. :v:
cool theard
Hmmmh...is anyone interested in making a group region? I think it would be kind of fun...

There already is one.
My SimCity 4 disc have disappeared :frown: .
Anyone know how to zone larger buildings for commercial and residential areas? Like 3x3s and stuff? Only sometimes I can do it. I was thinking it has to do with mayor rating, but I'm not quite sure.
I'm so broke, I have a large residential area, a medium sized industrial area, 2 coal stations, agricultural area, landfill and commerical on all sides. I've got lots of parks on every corner and my environmental supervisor will not shut up. Oh, and I'm nearly broke.
Cheats or no cheats? I've always played Simcity as a creative game, so balancing the budget is incredibly irritating for me. If you're willing to cheat, there's loads of stuff on Simtropolis, including a mod that enables developer cheats that were initially disabled in-game.
Otherwise, the best thing to do is start again and play cautiously. Skimp on most city services until you've got a reasonable surplus to afford one - go for schools first, then clinics and police stations and so on. Only build a fire station once a fire breaks out and for God's sake don't enable random disasters. And build up your neighbours cities as well. Demand goes through the roof if you get a whole city network going
Falco - The plots will automatically change to 3x3 slots or larger as your demand for high-end commercial services go up. You can't automagically place them
Oh good, this thread is still going... Almost. :v:
Live thread.. LIVEEEE!!!!
Hm, just discovered a new SimCity, but it's Open Source. Kind of a clone of SC4. It's called CityMania.

Looks awesome.
Build your cities as a network, makes things SOOOO MUCH EASIER. Like, Make a medium tile your residential with all your health bonuses and education, then make 2 adjacent small tiles your industry with power plants and garbage and stuffs. Finally make another small tile with commercial. Make sure your transportation is efficient because that's a big thing
My Simcity 4 city is failing. There're no complaints, but nobody is immigrating to the city and I'm not getting money.
Oh God, I wish I could, but lately I've been having to uninstall some things, such as NeoTokyo in order to find the space for Civ V. Bastard hard drive is only 160GB and I partitioned it into two like a moron
EDIT: Cyclo, city growth rates are also determined by certain reward buildings. For example, your city will stop growing at uh 25,000 I THINK if you don't have one of the two stadiums built in your city. If you've got a massive city, apparently the Opera House is poorly coded in that it's a required building for populations of more then 150,000, but it has a tiny capacity. If you've got a well developed city, then this might be the problem. There's a user-patch on Simtropolis that'll fix it
Rewards are expensive to maintain, but there's always going to be a point where you HAVE to have them to grow more. SC3K for example, you had to build the Stadium if you wanted to grow a city of more then 100,000

Try lowering taxes.
I only play Simcity by two things, I can build a city called Latounga and then destroy it in many ways!
Only rewards I had were the casino and mayoral mansion.

One thing, blow up the city!
If you want to make an good city, try to build an small city, and then start making more schools, hospitals and police Departments, but in an slow way. You just need to go in a slow way to build an city.
Bought the 4th one yesterday In the sale, even when I plant loads of low polluting energy sources, the environment meter still goes down, what gives?

Make things like parks, trees, and other stuff.
Is simcity 1 - 2000 free?
I can never play Simcity right.
I somehow always end up in deep debt with really high taxes and all city services lacking in funding.
Ahh, my city failed. I meteor'd the place, that shut the goddamn Environment advisor up.
