No matter what I do, when I place Public Transport systems I'm constantly told my layout doesn't work.
I found another copy of sim city 4 yesterday, sadly it did not come with the disc 2. So if anyone wants the key off of it who bought it LEGALLY and needs one due to loss of original packet just message me or post on here. This thread has also inspired me to dig up my old sim city 2000 disc.
That reminds me. I have a copy of Sim City 4 I want to get rid of. It's just the vanilla game, and if anyone wants it, they'd have to be in Britain or Ireland. I can't afford to pay for over seas shipping. Just message me if you're interested.
Well that's sad.
http://www.simtropolis.com/forum/files/file/21355-network-addon-mod-nam-version-29-for-pc/ I am quite surprised this is not in the OP. If those who don't know NAM re-works SC4 AI so its much smarter and add in a load of new transit stuff like new overpasses, highway onramps, intersections, ped-malls, a ground light rail network, roundabouts and turning lanes. It also makes the game much easier because of how horrible the stock AI is.

I know, I know, 8 month bump - goddammit, last time I posted here I was halfway through my year in France, but bare with me http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-01-30-maxis-job-mentions-triple-a-simulation-game
Maxis job mentions "triple-A simulation" game Spore and Darkspore developer Maxis has advertised for help building an "upcoming triple-A simulation-style game". "Good knowledge" of PS3 and Xbox 360 rendering architectures is considered a "plus". Creating graphics that work on a "wide variety of PCs" is considered a "duty". Those are the clues gleaned from a Graphics Engineer job advert on Gamasutra (spotted by Superannuation). Maxis dropped off the radar after delivering Darkspore for PC in April last year. Darkspore was an action RPG like Diablo, welded with the dizzying character customisation of Spore. Eurogamer's Darkspore review dished out 5/10, our autopsy concluding that the game "felt like it had its heart surgically removed". And not in a cool way like in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. A console version of Darkspore was whispered about in the earlier half of 2011, but nothing ever materialised. Maxis' credits stretch further back than Spore, of course - to the glory days of SimCity and The Sims. (Development of The Sims was handed to a dedicated studio in 2006.) Maxis founder and iconic video game maker Will Wright left the studio in 2009 - Spore being his last major work. Wright now runs Stupid Fun Club - a company that conjures new ideas for entertainment.
Obviously not an indication that they're doing another Simcity game, but we can but hope Although if it turns out to be a Societies sequel I am going to write to my MP
Yo, sorry about the eight-month bump, but I need help with this city in SC3K. Unemployment is way higher than acceptable, and buildings are starting to abandon due to poor transportation. To combat this, I continued building additional blocks with far lower RC ratios. Some of the new blocks have ratios smaller than two. This drastically affected the ratios of the city over the past few days, and at this point it is as low as 2.16, 0.14 lower than what I had previously thought was a manageable ratio. Despite this, unemployment stubbornly remains at 8, although it will strangely dip as low as 5 during construction, even though the ratio can go as high as 2.24. So, should I keep going as is, how long before the situation improves, should I change the design, or is more information necessary?
Sorry about the bump again. Does anyone know anything about neighbour deals? (3K)
I opened up my SimCity 4 case for the first time in years today only to find disk 2 missing.
I did it.
WOOOO! YEAAAAAAAAAAAH! I FUCKING DID IT!

Imagine the living conditions there
They're actually kind of okay. I could probably make it an absolute utopia without losing any population, but I want to cram in another 500,000 sims before I'm done and that means avoiding Great Depressions.
You're worried about a depression with that much money? I had a nice scenic city a few years back - god I was still in secondary school then, Christ - Hit a great depression about 100 years after founding the city, but the city account was in the mid millions. Crisis only lasted about 20 years, and much like real life, I cut costs by winding down obsolete city services Still, pretty worrying to see buildings suddenly become abandoned EDIT: Hmm, found old screenshots of that city in my Dropbox. Don't *quite* remember why I kept them, but it's good for nostalgic purposes. God the screenshot facility was crap

God the screenshot facility was crap
Well, depressions aren't crippling but they're really annoying, so I just leave the LE ordinances off. After all, it takes several hours for the game to run 20 years. That's just wasting time I set aside for building. I don't really have to avoid depressions for practical reasons as of yet, but for ideal space usage the only educational structure I can place is libraries. The EQ in this case depends entirely on how many people can live to forget their education. For LE 50 EQ is around 100. This allows a little extra industrial population without lowering the land values too much.
what sim city should I get I looked at the series and I saw that the newest one is way different than the other ones so I have no idea which one I should get to get a good experience
Simcity 4 Deluxe edition
How does that differ from the normal one?:v:
How does that differ from the normal one?:v:
It comes with the Rush Hour expansion pack, which is mostly concerned with transit. You get additional modes of transportation as well as a route query so you can find out which routes Sims are taking. In addition there's this gimmicky MySim thing. All in all, not much. It might come with extra buildings but I'm not really sure.

Also, Rush Hour has improved Sim pathfinding, and that matters
Simcity 4 Deluxe is on sale for $6. Worth it?
Well, it's a really complex and fun game with a really active modding community. Plus, you might be able to participate in another SC4 collab if we ever do that again. :v: So yeah, I'd definitely recommend it.
I bought this!
Just a run-of-the-mill high wealth city. False it's underwater. Does anybody know what the police station radius is?
