So yea, apparently I have to destroy them because they are corrupted, parts of roads and highways missing. And what's with the lag, do I need to use software or hardware rendering? And how does the RCI meter work? Higher bar = More demand?

My computer ran SC4 just perfectly fine. My favorite sim city is sim city 4 with the rush hour expansion. i love driving around and naming sims after family members... 0\ 0/
Hey, Suddenly, I want to play sim city! I have 3, which I love, but I hear that 4 is better. Is it true? Which one is the best?
I hate 4 so much...
I ran out of money. Had to start again. :(
That's a boring region, way too flat man, :geno:
Personally, I gave up on making my own region, and just edit the shit out of basic maxis regions. making a region worth a damn from scratch is not my cup of tea.
I quoted him and not you? err.
And I added my own opinion to the matter. :v:
Simcity 4 Deluxe is on Steam! http://store.steampowered.com/app/24780/
Simcity 4 Deluxe is on Steam! http://store.steampowered.com/app/24780/
someone should test if mods work for it. I know most 3rd party steam games support mods like their retail versions, but you never know.
That's a boring region, way too flat man, :geno:
But I like it flat :(
Well, I never expected sim city on steam. I hope all the other Maxis games are made available. £10 is not bad for both games, but I'm not sure if it's low enough for me to rebuy them. (And I prefer flat regions as well).
I like my regions rough :D
I like my regions rough :D
I like how it looks realistic from that point of view.
I like my regions rough :D
What mods are you using?
I wanna know!
Oh man, that folder I had was massive...but to get the region looking almost like that, I remember a few key mods that helped it look like that(Although I don't remember the names of them...sorry :( ) They can all be found at either: Simtropolis.com or SC4Devotion.com 1. a coastline mod that made the coastlines less...smooth I think. That mod together with the erosion tool makes for some of my fav coastlines(although not really good for cities since you want flat and straight for cities, not rugged and all over the place) 2. A water mod that made the water look darker blue(Hattiwatti has the same mod I think...) 3. LOTS of tree mods. Going through a tree phase, I dled a lot of realistic trees, and this can take a LOT of work, but you can get really nice looking forests, both in city AND region view. 4. Higher elevation rock mod - I distinctly remember downloading a mod that changes the texture of the higher elevations, making it a little more realistic. This mod, combined with - 5. A snow mod - made those mountains in the picture look the way they are. Or were they one mod?? (I seriously don't remember, it's been so long...sorry this is so vague :P) man...I had plans for a super massive region complete with 2 large megalopolises, High mountain ranges, low grasslands, rolling hills, Islands, farmland, suburbs, megahighways, peninsulas, jungles, forests, everything....never got to it, and now it's all gone. :/

I don't have any traffic :v: [editline]06:30PM[/editline] You should see the subways.
@Sekrit Jay - haha, It just looks purty because I made it neat-looking with photoshop - here's the original without it: And even that is a small part of the region, here's the region a few years ago: (It was about 3.5x bigger than shown here right before I deleted it...sadly I don't have it anymore, but I still have the pics) Pic dump - from a simcity journal I used to do at simtropolis
That makes every city I've ever produced look like a ghetto. :smithicide:
Damn...I got put to shame badly....
Between balancing the budget and traffic, my city are always blocky and look nothing like the cities I've seen, like the one above. As for balancing said budget, I usually have to micromanage the utilities and civil services (like health and education). Basically, you should have the max capacity about 100 above the current usage. With power and water, it's better to leave them alone if you plan to expand. I'm currently working on a city at about 12k citizens with a 2k monthly surplus. Yes, some of that is due to some areas not getting proper healthcare and policing, but that happens in real life too!
God I love this game, I've got to reinstall it soon, I've had this huge city when I was little and got tired so I went to bed early, while asleep I forgot to save, and my brother destroyed my whole city with every single disaster 10 times... :smithicide: I put three months of work into it...
EDIT: wwhoops, the below paragraph is for Jon-Ace ^^^I do that too. The thing that a lot of simcity 4 players don't know, is that not all residential lots need EVERY single type of service - the big hospitals, police stations, high schools, colleges and fire stations are unnecessary budget hogs in the early part of the game. At the very beginning I usually only have an elementary school and a small clinic, and that's it. when a fire appears, That's the time I put a firestation near the site. I only put police stations if its THAT bad, or if I want to increase the desirability of the area. I think that at some point I may install this game again and this time around keep track of all the mods I download, just so I won't be so vague when answering questions. and to Swilly and mac2468 - I used to feel the same way, which is why I went on a mod hunt to find the best. And even with those, my cities STILL don't compare to some of the ones out there which are just insane. (It just looks cool because I edited the colours to put a mood in the pic, and darkened/brightened areas so your eyes gravitate toward the focus of the pic [ie, if you look at the text in the image dump, the space directly behind the text is ever so slightly bluer/darker than the rest of the pic.])
God damn it now no ones going to respond to my city.

It kind of looks like Vancouver from a distance.
