Battlefield 2 is the best FPS I've ever played. I just hope BF3 will be similar.

If you want a game for shooting as a priority Black ops or bad company is more for you.

This game is 'Battlefield 2 : Inaccuracy everyday' for me.
I had many hours of fun with my friends on it though. Artillery everywhere.
Love this game but holy christ, hit detection is awful.
I can't even hit guys standing still with sniper rifles.
Bought this game when it came out.. so far I have more hours clocked in BF2 than anything else

I half agree. Project reality has a great prospect, but the gameplay side of it has been completely chucked out of the window. Theres an absurd amount of realisim. For instance, to hit something just 10 yards away you have to be prone and still for seconds. However, the teamplay aspect is great, despite how it sometimes fails.
The core game was a bit "nah".
A lot of trolls and a massive absence of teamwork.
And dont get me started on jets. I tried wake island 2007 and regret it to this day. In 2 hours, i still couldn`t get a jet. And when i did, about once or twice i was blown up in seconds after taking off. The bombers were heavily abused, but i disagree about the hit detection. If anything, i could only play the urban maps with no vechicles. My favourites being the SF pack, mainly because it is so awesome to rappel onto a balcony, go inside, clear out the building and escape.
I really enjoy PR and I would play it tons if it didn't take 20 minutes to load up a map only for the round I was joining to end so I have to wait another 20 minutes. Then I get into the game, no problems 45-50 fps, get into a squad, get in a chopper fly to where we were going BAM 200 ping lag spike cant get out of the chopper. I finally do but its when the chopper is about 200 feet in the air. I die but the lag continues eventually get disconnected. But those 4 or 5 minutes I do play are fun.

Not that bad for anyone I know. It's not good, but it's better than BC2 for sure. I played that game for 30 minutes of the full version and gave up...it was even worse than the beta!
BF2 was meant to be played with vehicles anyways. I remember when we all knew the spots and timings for vehicles so we would always get the cobra/z10/jets on wake. I think I have upwards of 800 hours on that map and most people in the server I regulared for years had 3 times that.
There was just so much to do and so many 64/64 servers to do it in for the longest time. At some point I got into 2v2 chopper play and it was amazing. I could play that game all day and never get bored. It's truly a shame it died out but I guess after 4-5 years most people move on and there weren't many new people to fill their shoes. No one I know still plays and I had hundreds of people on my xfire that used to play 24/7 :(
I wouldn't say its died out. There's still quite a few servers.

It's a shame that the modding community never took off as much as the BF1942 one did.
I remember playing this and there was a server where the host had used some kind of editor to make a giant wooden base in the sky with a ramp on it
that was the most fun I had with it, especially when I realized there was a ramp coming from the inside which you could jump on to an aircraft carrier with

Want to reinstall a Battlefield game now, not sure if i should play BF2 or 2142. BF2 was annoying with all the jets, and seemed a little boring unless you had a squad following you and actually doing things.
BF2142 had titans, which was cool with the whole team doing one thing.
Titans were fun when it didn't lag like fuck.
