never played 2142
i've played:
1942 - Amazing, my favorite BF game
Battlefield 2 - Decent, not as good as 1942
Heroes - Awful. Shameful.
Bad Company - Seemed strange, it was kind of fun, not amazing.
BC2 Beta - A little laggy on my PC, however it was fairly fun. I enjoyed parachuting in.
I Love BF2, I still play it quite regularly, even enjoy it more than Bad Company 2 if I'm being honest. Battlefield 2 abd Battlefield Vietnam are the best of the bunch, without doubt.
I wouldn't say its died out. There's still quite a few servers.
compare that to just 2 years ago

A+ game. Will play forever.
shit game you say?
PR makes it awesome. vanilla it's a piece of turd spat out by hell.
PR pretty much takes the fun out of the game.
There's such a thing as too much realism.
Jets were awesome in BF2, but I see 90% whine about them so I expect useless jets in BF3 :smith:
I bought BF2 for the mods. The vanilla game is bad, but I love Forgotten Hope 2. Playing in huge FH2 tournaments, full of coordination and planning, it's just ultimate gaming fun.
FH2 is brilliant.
It's a damn shame that it's pretty much dead player-wise though.
And no, I've played on good PR servers where everyone was coordinating everything through mics and the like.
It just went too fucking slowly for my taste.
Not to mention that it takes for-fucking-ever to get anywhere.
Hmm well it looks like ill buy the game. Shame, i remember i used to go to frys and see it all the time, wish i would have bought it back then. Should i just get Bf2, or the 29.99 with the booster packs?

Just buy BF2 on it's own, the booster packs are now free in a patch.
I can never get online it takes hours to log in.

Oh nice, thanks. Steam trying to nickel and dime me.
fanboy squeal
Yep, we're fanboys because you are so blind that you can't find any enemies. Makes total sense.

You can be the best BF2 player and not fire a shot, that's how wide the gameplay is. You don't need to shoot to win. I'm just saying BC2 or BL-ops is much more focused on the individual.
To people with the long login issue try this.
Fixed the problem for me a while back.
Also, I guess I'll give PR another try.
Haven't played it since... some time last year.
"Go, squad, go!"
I enjoy good commanders that give orders and shit, not just spawnkilling with the artillery strike.
And i don't understand the unlock system at all.
Updates on Facepunch Extreme. Its now called Battlefield Facepunch. It will have 3 versions. Normal maps. Custom Maps. and Project Reality
Fuck yes. This is the game that got me into PC gaming way back when. I remember being so blown away by the graphics that I had to get a gaming PC and play this.
Wasn't aware both expansions are free now, I need to re-install this.

And that one special forces map where the Brits start off in a construction site, dog, that map was my jam.
I've actually been on a "play all my old favorites" spree, Super Mario 64 has wasted my entire day today, I'm gonna go hunt down this disc.

Didn't have to look far, the box and everything was right by my desk. I knew I'd never be able to lose it :allears:

Now if only my CD tray would open :sigh:
If you play PR, be sure to use your mic, seriously it really adds to that mod. Man this shit makes me nostalgic i'm firing up bf2 vanilla gulf of uman.

Project Reality's golden days, IMO was back with the 0.4 and 0.5 versions.
This game is awesome when you get a squad that works together.
Just picked it up, and installing now.
Anyone have a server up? I can make one if theres a few people who want to play...
Why do they do that anyways
Ugh, i keep getting " Please make sure battlefield 2 disc is in the tray and restart." After googling it said i have to update to 1.50. But before that i have to update to 1.41. Now i have to wait 2 hours and then download 1.50 :sigh:
I loved flying things in this game. I generally was bad at actually killing people with the jets, but it was fun anyway.
Yeah, flying things in all of the Battlefield games is just enjoyable for some reason.
It's not a simulator but it's also not strictly arcade either.
It feels like the best of both worlds.

Friend showed me these when I was younger and didn't even know what battlefield was. Still I nearly died laughing. I don't know how well they hold up.
Add ninjaguy4 on steam and we can play sometime
