no dice, "Service Communication Failure"
Hehe, I get it, no DICE.
Jegus, I need to reinstall this tomorrow.
Is this game still worth getting 5 years after its release? ($20 from EA website)
Of course.
It still has tens of thousands of people playing every day.
I spent hundreds of hours on this, and even more hundred of hours on PR.
I've been looking all over for ways to get this game. Is there a sort of demo anywhere? I'm flat broke so I can't buy it.
Ok I'm having a problem with this game. When I join an online game, 9/10 times the game freezes and I have to close it. Now I know it's not a hardware issue because I can play singleplayer with 64 bots on high settings so any ideas?

Don't know if they still run the demo, but it was really great. It features more than half of the game content on the best map in the game and there were always lots of servers. That was 5 years ago however...
Every time I am near my friend the only thing I hear is GRENADE Frag Grena-GRENADE - Frag grena-Frag grenade GRENADE! GRENADE! Frag Grenade!
And the worst bit is He isn't even holding a grenade. It was horrible, I can't do awesome sniper missions with him or anything.
Aaah, jets.
Sorry for being one of those jet-whoring 15yearolds back in the day. But it was so much fun to kamikaze people, even if it did shit on the team's efforts :ohdear:
My game just suddenly exits on Win7, and my previous PC had some really weird graphical hiccups, so I've never really been able to play this optimally, and I don't understand how the patches work.
4 years spend on trying to get it to work :smith:
at least the demo still works.
Buying the game on Steam is the best decision I have ever made ever. No more installing/updating.
The last real Battlefield game.
Bad Company 2 is NOT a Battlefield game. Tiny maps where the entire map is a choke point, and sometimes each team gets a helo and a tank or two.
Battlefield 2, where you can spawn in your main base and take your pick of humvees, tanks, APCs, mobile artillery, helicopters or jets...THOSE were the good times...
I'd play this game so much more often if it weren't for Punkbuster.
Punkbuster is a crime against humanity.

Last I checked (a year ago) there were a few servers and people still played the demo. Like many games, the release version was the best. Shooting in mid air, c4 chucking, etc. >:(

o hi thar.
Played this loads a few years back, the hit detection was godawful but many laughs were still had. Then I uninstalled it and managed to lose the disc at some point, so no nostalgic re-installing for me :smith:

The C4 throwing was not a good thing. That's one thing that made the demo unplayable.
I just realised..
I lost my second copy of BF2 :smith:
So many fond memories of spec-ops and c4

Hit detection = still fucking awful.
The singleplayer AI commander is a dick. Especially the enemy commander.
Fucking artillery.

I'm in this one :3:
Purple heart of shame =(
Jet combat flight 8 meters over the ground, awesome.
Please delete this thread! The more I read the more nostalgic I get. I wish Dice would stop churning these crap console based spin offs and go back to doing what they did best.

the cars weren't even useful because they got blown up to bits by jets anyways.

everyone raved about the demo and people still do. as always, a few people complain and they change it and overtime the game becomes progressively worse from 1.0 -> 1.5. I played with more people than I can remember over a 4 year period and everyone always complained that they missed it, I've never met someone that hated it other than the people who complain(ed) about EVERYTHING.
the cars weren't even useful because they got blown up to bits by jets anyways.
you had to be smart about using them. they weren't made for cruising around with your friends or checking out the scenery ;)

Oh god, i remember havin' good time as a squad leader... but then... AI commander starts spamming the same order even if i agree with it... Oh god.
The fucking J-10 :argh:
I was always the only person on my server who could land it without crashing.
It was fun to try to fly through that hole in Kubra Dam. It worked even though the wings were wider than the tunnel.

Yeah, but you can usually find it cheaper retail. My copy was $10 at Best Buy I think.

I always hid behind barriers and used it as a static defense.
Except when the jets were out in full force, anyway.
that video reminded me of how awful BF2's ragdolls were.
