Yay I found my CDs with the expansion pack too.... ....I lost the key code :saddowns:
I always hid behind barriers and used it as a static defense.
Probably THE most underutilized feature in BF2. Getting the right angles for sustained fire can be hard, but the jeep MG's can really punch the shit out of any helicopter. Unless the pilot spots you pretty damn quick he will have no choice but to back off from your buddies (hopefully all the way back to base for repairs). I don't find the jeep guns much useful against infantry though since the gunner is left immobile and mostly unshielded (DAT SNIPER), but in a situation where you can surprise attackers it can be really powerful. On Wake Island my team had just taken the airstrip which left the enemies (PLA) attempting to bumrush it from the southwest since all the northern flags were taken by USMC. By positioning my jeep on the flat grassy patch between the MG towers and the helipad I could spend the next few mins unloading at enemies running up the crest of the hill, which works well since (as anyone who assaulted the airstrip will know) the slope makes it impossible to see what's waiting for you up there until you've already made a target of yourself.
you could duck in the turret though and the average sniper was pretty bad so spamming up and down worked well. aiming at the cockpits was a near instant kill on cobras/z10s because they were often already damaged a little bit and even a semi flank was enough to catch them in an awkward position. Some of my most fond memories of wake was sitting either near the airfield or on the carrier picking off the j10/f35 with a sraw. You could sit behind the essex gun in the platform underneath and get a glimpse of the nose of the f35 when it spawned. because everyone would be fighting over it you could get 3-5 kills every time and they couldn't tell where it came from. making me want to go play for the first time in forever!
I might play this tonight.
We need a PR server for facepunch. One that is causal, but kick trolls out. Not like some elitist servers. No mic? Fuck off!
We need a PR server for facepunch. One that is causal, but kick trolls out. Not like some elitist servers. No mic? Fuck off!
First off, there's a lot of people here that don't have/use mics, but still play just as well. Second of all, I don't think we have enough of a population to warrant a private server. Better we just play as a group in the populated servers.
I've been playing BF2 randomly for the past 2 weeks, loving it again, last time I played was like.. '06
everyone raved about the demo and people still do. as always, a few people complain and they change it and overtime the game becomes progressively worse from 1.0 -> 1.5. I played with more people than I can remember over a 4 year period and everyone always complained that they missed it, I've never met someone that hated it other than the people who complain(ed) about EVERYTHING. you had to be smart about using them. they weren't made for cruising around with your friends or checking out the scenery ;)
Wow. Hahaha. Obviously you haven't played the game dude.
Project Reality. If you own BF2 fucking download it and you probably won't turn back. [editline]3rd December 2010[/editline] Looks like I'm a few pages late in suggesting that. I usually play on the UKWF , *NwA* or =MeRK= servers under the name SHAz_181
Wow. Hahaha. Obviously you haven't played the game dude.
obviously you're not very good at the game dude :(
I'm going buy it again, really want to play PR again.
obviously you're not very good at the game dude :(
sorry for not spending all my life infront of a computer playing video games dude. the day you have to play EXACTLY the same way as everyone else to just avoid getting killed, is not a fun game.
Help PLEASE. My BF wont launch. It launches then crashes. No intro. It just goes black then back to desktop.
Now I remember why I didn't play this that much even though it's great. Punkbuster :sigh: [editline]3rd December 2010[/editline]
The last real Battlefield game. Bad Company 2 is NOT a Battlefield game. Tiny maps where the entire map is a choke point, and sometimes each team gets a helo and a tank or two. Battlefield 2, where you can spawn in your main base and take your pick of humvees, tanks, APCs, mobile artillery, helicopters or jets...THOSE were the good times...
BC2 wasn't meant to be anything like BF2, it was made as a sequel to BC1, small scaled battlefield type gameplay. Not a full battlefield game, I don't know why you were expecting BF2 gameplay since BC1 is nothing like BF2 anyway.
PR server. causal
I think it would be hard to play PR casually. I mean, you have to focus and work as a team to win. Having squads for different things are going to do that. Not everyone everywhere.
I just got kicked from a server for not having a Mic, and I was killing lots of shit really good with the A-10, saved a whole bunch of people. THEN I got kicked for not having a mic. The joys of PR..
sorry for not spending all my life infront of a computer playing video games dude. the day you have to play EXACTLY the same way as everyone else to just avoid getting killed, is not a fun game.
there's no single way to avoid getting killed by jets in a car, that's part of what makes bf2 a great game. you don't have to play much at all to figure out how to get in a car and dodge a jet. pretty typical response. "I can't do basic things so the game is broken and requires you to play all day to figure it out!"

This game was the best. I look at the Modern Warfares, the Bad Companies... and am still baffled at how they got no where near as good as this.
Well hey there BF2 disc, why not slip yourself into my drive and unload yourself all over my PC? Ima go play some Wake Island 2007
I think it would be hard to play PR casually. I mean, you have to focus and work as a team to win. Having squads for different things are going to do that. Not everyone everywhere.
It depends what you define as casual. For me it's casual to jump on a server, join a random squad that uses VoIP and do some good teamwork.
sorry for not spending all my life infront of a computer playing video games dude. the day you have to play EXACTLY the same way as everyone else to just avoid getting killed, is not a fun game.
But you don't, really. It just happens to be so that for every strategy (whatever vehicles and tactics it may involve) there is several effective counters, meaning there is always a way to get you. This is very pronounced in BF2 specifically because of it's careful game balancing, which makes co-ordinated effort more important than specific individual's combat strategies. If you're not doing well in BF2, most likely you're not teamplaying good enough.
Even though my first BF game was 2142, and I loved it, BF2 wasn't bad. The only thing I hate about is is the server browser which is consistently locking up on me. Oh god I miss BF2142..good times

Oh god I miss BF2142..good times
I was intending on buying BF2142 around its release but talk about the intrusive upgrade system (lol no grenades for you) along with the in-game ads, combined with the fact that the game was running on the same engine, kept me off. I was given mixed opinions on the fabled "Titan mode" from peers and since in the end I didn't see anywhere near as much praise (or even general discussion) for 2142 compared to BF2 I never got around to buying it. I'm aching to try it now but after all these years stores long since stopped stocking it and it's not on Steam, so I'm not sure what to do.
Was just killed in an impressive way. I was in the pillbox overlooking the flag on the beach, as a sniper with my M95. I spotted a hovering US jet out to sea, he'd also spotted me. I fired off a round, hit the glass but no joy. The pilot also began firing into the pillbox with his machine guns, I fire off one last round into the glass and kill the pilot but he also kills me with his MGs. I've never seen anyone actually use the hover on a jet before and was surprised by the pilot's accuracy with the MG from that distance.

It's only fun (sometimes) when you have like 64 players in the server. Conquest is still a lot of fun, but the Northern Strike expansion gamemodes and maps are fun too. The ingame ads aren't really a problem, and you get grenades after like one level which takes like 5 minutes to get. I tried playing it recently but didn't have as much fun as I used to..hmm
BF2142 is a blast. The unlock system isn't that bad at all either. Doesn't take that long to unlock anything really.
