i lost my 2142
Just played with a really great squad on some random server, parachuting in on all the bases by helicopter and obliterating any vehicles on the ground. Didn't catch their names, and since I need steam community disabled in game to play BF2 without punkbuster shitting itself, I'll probably never play with them again :saddowns:

So i'm thinking of getting battlefield 2. Anything I should know?
It's the best game ever.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK Battlefield 3 is being made on the Frostbite engine. Bye bye 64 player servers. http://www.1up.com/news/ea-beat-cod-better-game

http://www.1up.com/news/ea-beat-cod-better-game
I thought this was common knowledge, but why does that remove 64 player servers? It's going to be on Frostbite 2.0, and I thought specifically designed around the play-styles of Battlefield 3.

2142 is still fucking awesome if you ask me. I just wish the Tactical Gamer server was populated more often since it's the only server where people really work together. You just can't hack it! 64 players on Ghost Town, I didn't let a single armoured vehicle past the bridge. C4 + competent commander = winner!
Enemy infantry spotted! I am on my way! AND THEN INFANTRY WAS TWO TANKS.
What, Frostbite is incapable of running 64-player maps? So much for "next-generation" game engines.
Frostbite 2 will be capable of running 40vs40 games. Frostbite 1.5 is technically capable of 50 players. I just bought BF2, I'm redownloading it!
So any news on this Facepunch server?
How do i patch this?
Reinstalled BF2. I'd forgotten how much of a fucking hassle installing and updating this game is. It takes about an hour to actually get to the game.
Found my Special Forces Key  [editline]6th December 2010[/editline] Time to get that F2000
My copy should be arriving today or tomorrow already downloaded patches and PR for when it arrives.
Why does every gun take like a billion shots to kill someone? I don't remember it being like this back in 2006!
Why does every gun take like a billion shots to kill someone? I don't remember it being like this back in 2006!
Well I don't remember all the weapons being unnacurate as fuck when you're standing
Why does every gun take like a billion shots to kill someone? I don't remember it being like this back in 2006!
Poor hitboxes and hit detection. I was killed earlier buy a guy jumping around in front of me with a pistol despite putting a full magazine from the AK into him. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't...Really fucking annoying when it doesn't!

I played for hours last night. I remember why I didn't play the game very much. The hit detection is terrible and the gun damages are erratic. Sometimes you can kill somebody with an AK in maybe 3 shots, and sometimes an enemy can take an entire magazine and then turn around and shoot you in the foot with a pistol and kill you. Still incredibly fun, but the game would be so much better if they fixed the hit detection. Sniping a moving target is nigh impossible.
BF2 has bullet travel time, ive shot people from over 1300 meters (modz) and the bullet landed like 2 seconds after the shot. aim infront of zie target.
It seems to be so unpredictable though. Sometimes you can hit a distant moving target by just holding the reticule over it and shooting, and sometimes you need to shoot 10 meters in front of him. I guess it takes practice, but sometimes hitting a stationary target at 50 meters won't work no matter where you aim.
BF2 has bullet travel time, ive shot people from over 1300 meters (modz) and the bullet landed like 2 seconds after the shot. aim infront of zie target.
Not to mention bullet drop, most people don't know this which is why they can't pull off a headshot on a target over 200 metres away, revealing themselves and giving you the chance to nail them before they'd fired off another round. For targets that are around 400 metres (near the edge of the game's max draw distance) you should aim about 2mm over their heads. As for hitting the moving targets, it's hard to describe but you soon get the hang of how much you need to lead a target before hitting them.
Shame the default sniper rifle is a pile of shit and does almost no damage. I was shooting a guy and I counted 6 hits and he still managed to get away.
Are you talking about the USMC M24? That's my rifle of choice! If you're a sniper you should be going for a headshot every time, don't wanna give away your position. The crosshairs on the M95 are too thick making long range headshots nigh on impossible, the Type 98 is just plain shit and the L996 or whatever it's called is too slow on the reload. The only time I'd use an M95 is on a map where there are shit loads of choppers in order to take out the pilots.
