2 hits with '50 cal. Vanilla BF2 is unbalanced to shit anyway.
Cool, I don't have the M95.
I'm installing this again, I've never played Project Reality, should I get it?
Alright so every time I try to play online, punkbuster tells me to fuck off without actually specifying what program Im running is in violation. Any ideas?
Are you playing using Steam?
Yup. Well through steam, anyway.
Disable the steam community (Shift+Tab) Punkbuster hates it. And if you have any overlay (mumble, ventrilo), disable it too
Are you talking about the USMC M24? That's my rifle of choice! If you're a sniper you should be going for a headshot every time, don't wanna give away your position. The crosshairs on the M95 are too thick making long range headshots nigh on impossible, the Type 98 is just plain shit and the L996 or whatever it's called is too slow on the reload. The only time I'd use an M95 is on a map where there are shit loads of choppers in order to take out the pilots.
M95, gotta love taking out those pilots. Managed to get myself just within draw-distance of the carrier on Dalian and I nailed a jet whore just as he was warming up the F-35. Bet someone punched a hole through their screen over that. :smug: I hardly ever play sniper, but I sure as fuck wouldn't play anything else if sniper rifles were insta-kill. Long-range rifles being underpowered is good because it causes most people to leave sniping to the ones with actual skill and forces the Counter Strike-kiddies to play supportive roles. BF2 has excellent balance, one just has to accept some dying for every few kills sometimes.

How many people still play 2142? I'm thinking about picking it up, but I don't want to waste my money if there aren't many populated servers.
How many people still play 2142? I'm thinking about picking it up, but I don't want to waste my money if there aren't many populated servers.
Where did you find it available?
Why is BF2 still 29 bucks on steam?
Guys I need help, I'm patched up to 1.5, but the game won't start, flashes a black screen for a couple of seconds then just goes back to desktop. I can't find a fix for it with google, any ideas?
How many people still play 2142? I'm thinking about picking it up, but I don't want to waste my money if there aren't many populated servers.
It's still quite popular. A few thousand players and a few hundred servers last I checked.(a month ago)
Loved it. Cant wait for BF P4F
More like BF3
Sounds like the same problem I had. Do you have vista?
Yeah but it's ok, managed to find the fix after trawling through 15 pages in the EA forums.
Just had a few awesome games as Spec-Ops. I love going behind enemy lines, sabotaging, quietly taking out snipers and other assorted Solid Snakery. I also destroyed an APC while parachuting by dropping C4 and detonating it from high above, definitely the most badass thing I've ever done in BF2. I love this game.
I'm debating whether to get this first or Bad company 2 first if I get a new PC. I'll definitely get it at some point though!
fucking punkbuster.
Wow, vanilla BF2 is so much more fun than PR could ever be, mainly because everyone isn't a giant douche.
Where the hell is Battlefield 3. It's been 5 fucking years damnit, I haven't heard anything.
Found my Special Forces Key :dance: [editline]6th December 2010[/editline] Time to get that F2000
I only got the F2000 for the flashbangs. :v: [editline]8:20PM[/editline] *pffff* *pffff* *pffff* "stop it, jerkass"
I'm debating whether to get this first or Bad company 2 first if I get a new PC. I'll definitely get it at some point though!
I'd get BF2 first, you have a lot more choice in what you do when playing the rounds, jump in any vehicle you want, take whichever route you want to victory and have a much wider range of weapons. Bad Company 2 really limits how you play the map, you're always being forced into choke points, the maps have very few routes and there's not a lot of room for open play. It suits the game because it's trying to be Call of Duty where it's non-stop close quarters action and less about the tactical gameplay. Great if that's your cup of tea but if you're expecting it to be like the other Battlefield games you know of then you'll be disappointed, I was. Double page king!
Grenade spam on Karkand :arghfist::gonk:
Me and some friends friends just got done playing this over a LAN. So much fun was had, I nostalgia'd back to 2007 when I used to play this regularly.
Grenade spam on Karkand :arghfist::gonk:
Infantry-Only is where it gets really bad. Gave up on "INF" servers long ago when I realized how incredibly dumb it is to relieve the game of vehicles but leave the second-most destructive kind of ordnance unrestricted in usage and supply. Stalemates tend to occur on infantry servers as both sides are nade-spamming each other with no armored (splinter-proof) vehicles exist to break it.
Grenade spam on Karkand :arghfist::gonk:
I've owned BF2 around since it came out, but I just got high speed internet about 2 weeks, so I finally decided to play it online. The first map I joined was full of grenade spam on karkand. The next map was Delian Plant, which I played a sniper during. It was a good time. But then my game crashed or something, because I fired a shot, and I was looking at my desktop again.
I remeber when I was in the top 100 for Dog Tags on BF2142 Nearly had 1000 unique tags. Good times.
Let's see if i can a bf2 server working on my debian dedi. [editline]10th December 2010[/editline] :siren:Got it working!!!:siren:
