Finally found my goddamn play CD but I don't have my install CD looks like I'll have to use my dell latitude from 2001 :P
scaryneighbor Speedboat with lasers!
ah, I remember this game. Probably the first RTS I ever played and definitely one of my favorites. I haven't been on for a few months, but I know a small community used to play the game on the "Game Ranger" service. Don't know if they're still around though.
God I played this for days straight... I'd always go on that map with the ungodly amount of trees... I think it was Endor or something. So much Carbon! This was so fun. Too bad it screws up in Win7.
Too bad it screws up in Win7.
There's a way to fix the colors: close explorer.exe. Start it back up after you're done playing.
Nostaglia sounds like a disease of the inner ear. Chronic Nostaglia.
Holy shit, even though this was literally just AOE with Star Wars, it was the best fucking thing ever. I loved this game.
Just played it for six hours straight. Won on hard with the gungans on a planet with no water, give me a fuckin award EDIT: Also I believe MP has direct-IP connectability so if anyone is ever up for a game just slap your IP in this topic and lower dem ports
You guys every see this mod? Looks pretty good.
the one thing that always bothered me about this game is how we could upgrade units but we couldn't keep producing the older ones. plain old stormtroopers are cooler than those ones you get at tech 4 that have some kind of deployable gun. is there a mod or something like that? that lets us produce obsolete units for a fraction of the cost?

death star spam all day
The mod I linked on the last page is taking steps to remedy that issue.
are they already in place? i hate it how we have to use these troopers we hardly ever see in the movies (or never) as our main foot soldier, rather than the iconic simple blaster equipped storm trooper
are they already in place? i hate it how we have to use these troopers we hardly ever see in the movies (or never) as our main foot soldier, rather than the iconic simple blaster equipped storm trooper
I think so, but I haven't played the mod myself (as it isn't released) so I have no idea.
...when will it be released?
...when will it be released?
No idea, you'll have to check the mod page
They need to put this on Steam. I lost the main game, I still have the disc for the Expansion though.
They need to put this on Steam. I lost the main game, I still have the disc for the Expansion though.
You'd have better luck suggesting it to GoG.
suggesting a mod that doesn't even have a definite release date isn't exactly appropriate. does anyone know of a mod that does this at least cosmetically?
I lost my games for this a long time ago, people online want 20 quid for it too, at most its worth 5.
It kind of sucks that there's probably never going to be another Star Wars RTS as good as this one. Empire at War was a little disappointing in comparison.
Can't decide between Galactic Battleground or Empire at War to play. I could try both but it'd be pretty time consuming
Can't decide between Galactic Battleground or Empire at War to play. I could try both but it'd be pretty time consuming
How is that even a question? SWGBG.
It kind of sucks that there's probably never going to be another Star Wars RTS as good as this one. Empire at War was a little disappointing in comparison.
The only thing that disappointed me in Empire at War was the way ground battles were handled, they lacked the scale that the movies showed and the way the units were organized was kind of stupid. But it did space battles very well. I used to love playing this game and I have it and the Clone Campaigns in a disk holder in my desk drawer.
Not sure why you are saying it lacks the scale, there is a lot more boots on the ground than GB. When you build squads you get like 20 guys or something.
I never played this game, i however did play the Empire at war series. Damn i loved those games.
I just to play hours & hours when I was young.. Great nostalgia thread!
