daniel craig's depiction of bond was pretty close to the bond in ian flemming's novels. a bond that wasn't "perfect", occasionally made rash decisions, and was more of an anti-hero.

Except we're not reading the books we're watching the movies. The Bond that has been depicted and built up over the years into something people cherish is what I wanna see. Not this brooding angry Bond crap. If I wanna see an action movie with a protagonist like that I have plenty of other action movies to choose from.

is there a problem with a new bond being faithful to the books though? casino royale was a reboot of the series, you know. the old formula of bond meeting this really wacked-out villain with really unrealistic plans and spouting out cheesy one liners was getting tiring. if anything, daniel craig brought bond back to his former glory. he may be "different", sure, but change isn't always bad.
I don't think there's any way to make a perfect Goldeneye remake.
They could give it nothing but a graphics upgrade, but then people might say they're not changing enough, and it'd be pointless.
They could implement ragdoll physics/Euphoria, but then people might complain that it's less realistic than the old motion-capture animations. On the other hand, they could leave the motion-capture animations in, and people would still complain that it doesn't have up-to-date ragdoll physics like every other shooter.
Basically any change made to the mechanics or the interface or anything would be met with dislike from some group of fans.
But at any rate, I think this is fake.

The reason they got rid of Mr invincible perfect Bond was because he was becoming/had become completely unbelievable (and subsequently unrelatable to the audience) especially when the Bourne series came along and proved you could make a spy film without dumb gadgets and all of this shit. Die Another Day was an absolutely horrible film, gorging on product placement and references from previous better films in the series (mostly the early ones). Personally I love Casino Royale, it's an incredibly classy film. There's an actual storyline there (unfortunately ruined in Quantum of Solace) that you can be interested in, not just 'dumb supervillain wants to ruin the world, James Bond saves the world'.

Bond has always been about having something somewhat plausible blown to ridiculous proportions.
Underwater bases and space stations are both very possible in real life but if they were realistic in a film it wouldn't be fun to watch.

Look, it doesn't even have to be a new IP. Look at Arkham Asylum, that was a great game. Red Dead Redemption isn't a remake or a sequel or anything (it has nothing to do with Revolver) and it's brilliant as well.

Activision? Craig? Remake? Uggg this is going to be horrible. Specially the Craig bit. Each Bond had their own style. Whenever they changed actors for 007, they had a massive change of style for the movie. Putting Craig in Goldeneye is like putting the Gears of War people in a splinter cell game.
