As a word of warning, don't do what gabe did and think your account is completely safe with Steam Guard. Giving out your username/password can still expose some personal information about you: your name, address, last 4 digits of a credit card used to purchase a game, and some other things. [editline]5th March 2011[/editline] :wtc: My triple post disappeared somehow. No clue what happened here.
Only if they can access your account, which requires being authorized by your email, meaning now they have to hack you email as well to authorize the account. As long as the thief can't access your email, you should be relatively safe.
Ballsy move
I feel sorry for his inbox.
I feel sorry for his inbox.
Why?
Why?
Because people are going to be sending requests through email. Like a request to have that computer that they were on the computer that the account can work on. At least that what I think.

SteamGuard protects Steam3, but Steam2 is still open for anyone to connect with. It's the Steam2 user details that expose your personal information.
Why?
Its a wonderful feature with tons of emails Needs to be fixed
Well, my activation code doesn't work, so I'm locked out of my account. Edit: Just logged into my other computer, which I never use at all, and SteamGuard didn't work for it, it didn't tell me to enter my code. Obviously this has alot of bugs currently. [editline]5th March 2011[/editline] Okay, I got it fixed. I went on my old computer, it had a pretty old outdated version of steam on it, preventing steam guard from working. I then had to opt into the beta (even though I'm already in it), restart my steam 3 times, and then I disabled steam guard completely, and I now can use my account freely. I advise you don't use the beta at its current state, just wait for all the kinks to be sorted out.
Where's the guy who leaked HL2?
He's banned from ever using the Internet if I remember correctly. So he cannot help us. I also use Steam on a bunch of different computers. I hope this shit doesn't get standardized on all accounts...

This invention of steam's could save the world o: Well, not really, but the Steam World, from getting hacked, but I'm sure theirs flaws. Maybe.

Good in a way that we won't get hacked, gay in a way in the hassle to get started.
sounds like... javascript:document.body.contentEditable='true'; document.designMode='on'; void 0 to me
Inspect element. Far easier.
Anyone knows what's his real Steam profile? I can't seem to find it in Valve developer group.

Ok so what if you buy a new pc? Then you can't use your steam account anymore?
Ok so what if you buy a new pc? Then you can't use your steam account anymore?
How about you read the thread.
His new machine is using Intel's Identity Protection Technology, it has like a binary verification code that changes every 30 seconds. So the only way to break into his account would be to steal the machine that has access to it.
So what happens when you inevitably log into your new PC? And that makes the whole "With Steam Cloud, you can access your games anytime, anywhere!" slogan/ad thing wrong :colbert:
Oh gabe, when you say "Gaben" i just jizz <3
